The power of BS might be a play somewhat but this is science as well. It's a neuropsychological phenomenon that contributes to phantom limb syndrome. The human brain does not like discontinuity and is constantly trying to fill in the blanks as a protective measure. So we see faces in things that don't have them, jerk away from a hot stove before we actually register the burn, and fill in the gap for sensations. (There's more to it than that but you get the gist)
I agree with most of these. Jerking away from a hot stove, however, is a physiological phenomenon which I don't think fits - the brain isn't involved in the response. Skin receptors send a signal to the spinal cord/CNS, and that reacts in a reflex arc before pain signals ever reach the brain.
If you doubt this, check out Mirror Neurons. In Phantom Limb Syndrome, people with amputated limbs feel sensation in the absent limb and it can be traumatic. Relief can come through therapy using a similar method as this video.

I find it hard to believe. The illusion can only go so far. If your real hand is getting burned, real nerve damage and cells dying is accumulating. There's no way that can be ignored by the brain. Same thing if a finger was chopped or a bone bent in an unholy way, the damage would send signals and the illusion would break as the pain is inescapable

Can Magic Arm Experiments be adapted to suit different types of prosthetic limbs, such as hands, arms, legs, or feet, and their respective motor functions? What neuroscientific principles are applied in Magic Arm Experiments to enhance the brain's ability to recognize the prosthetic limb as a functional part of the user's body?
I've heard of treatments for phantom limb that are similar but using a mirror instead of a rubber hand, so a person who's missing one limb can see at the reflection of their intact limb where their lost limb should be. Apparently it can make them feel like their phantom limb is mirroring the movements of their intact limb. One guy I heard of had the feeling that his phantom limb was painfully clenched and couldn't relax, so they did the mirror trick and had him clench his intact hand and then slowly relax it, and it helped. It can take practice to work, though, it's not an instant thing.
The rubber hand test shows that the mind works on an imaginary plane, we are imaginary. Here the mind does not switch from a physical circuit, nerves, tissue, skin, to a fictitious circuit - the rubber hand, but switches from one imaginary circuit to another, equally imaginary.
