Lou was an introvert. Introverts are the coolest. Nobody compares. Extroverts can be cool too, but they're not as cool as Lou. Except Mac Demarco. He's a pretty cool extrovert with Lou like qualities.
I came for the promised Reedisms but stayed for "Lou's Views"! As an aside, this would've been a great addition to the Coffee & Cigarettes movie (had he had a cuppa within reach and this video been filmed in black and white)!
I bought Transformer LP a week before he died and it arrived the day he died, I listened to it on the day and then on that night I heard the news. Crazy. I felt like something had gone from the earth, sort of a sick feeling, I felt the same when Manzarek died.
Only the good die young. You weren't young. But you were good, and gave more to the world than you took. In your next life, may you be happier, even if it leads to less great music. Take care, good luck, and see you next life. The world peace on the next life is going to be a real party. PS- "Berlin" was his best.
Jens Lekman mentions that part where Lou talks about Sweden being scarier than New York in his song “The Cold Swedish Winter.” That’s one of my favorite random pop-cultural references in song.
This and Get Crazy and One Trick Pony and Lulu on the Bridge (which was otherwise an awful flick). Lou had a great sense of humor and should have acted more. But I guess that would have bit into his music time, and there was nothing he loved more than making music.
Both of these movies were amazing. Too young to be a hard-core Lou Reed fan, but my dad is. Jim Jarmusch was in one of these movies talking about the last cigarette or some shit. Was bomb. Love Jim Jarmusch. Mystery Train, Down By Law, and Ghost Dog are some of the best movies made by a human, ever.
So did we - I recall them just being a stick of incense, so maybe we weren't using the correct term, but we did call them Punks and lit our firecrackers with them as well.......
Njew York is a hell hole which brought forth some amazing art....unless you're financial secure, who the fuck would want to live there though... Wonder what year this was ..the ridiculous curly top says ± 1982..... "Why are you still smoking"..that question was sooo fucking ahead of its time....facking filthy habbit......I'm down to two cigarettes a day....one with the evening coffee, one after the evening (night) meal.....
I love how easy it was for him to talk...and say stuff that he really means. Many other celebs struggle when they have to get really deep.
That Sweden line is classic. This is very subtle and hilarious. Lou was a genius.
RIP. still laughing about the bit about Sweden, Lou.
Lou was an introvert. Introverts are the coolest. Nobody compares. Extroverts can be cool too, but they're not as cool as Lou. Except Mac Demarco. He's a pretty cool extrovert with Lou like qualities.
this is so fucking sublime. Hilarious, genuine.

A punk is for lighting fuses.
mama luves baby
is that "punk" "cigarette" a real thing? i can't find it. punk wood is like dry rotted wood that you use to start fires...
A punk is like a particular kind of incense stick. They're thicker and typically used to light fireworks

Shit movie, *BEST PARTS*

2018: Lou's glasses are still ahead of time.

Lou's Views --> Lou's VU's
I think this is best interview of him most open.
Also, I remember when "punks" went from green to light brown. we'd light our firecrackers with them in the empty lots.
Lou Reed is my God
This and Get Crazy and One Trick Pony and Lulu on the Bridge (which was otherwise an awful flick). Lou had a great sense of humor and should have acted more. But I guess that would have bit into his music time, and there was nothing he loved more than making music.
Lou was hilarious.
Miss you, Lou. Great film, by the way..........
Long Island is Significantly worse. HA HA HA Ain't that the truth.

Lou Reed R.I.P
I used to smoke ‘punks.’ So funny. Lou is his amazingly eccentric self. He rules.

Long island is still terrible.
yep, a burning stick was called a 'punk' in upstate NY too. And Manhattan if I recall right.
Creepy control state in Sweden has only gotten worse since this interview. Lou very perceptive.
See you later, Lou...

So did we - I recall them just being a stick of incense, so maybe we weren't using the correct term, but we did call them Punks and lit our firecrackers with them as well.......

Honor the trolls that came before
Its tough, going from famous to not famous, You can feel the agonising pain of denial.
Brian Monahan I don't get the impression that he cared about fame, I think his struggles were in other areas of life...
Wisdom?????
or Lou Reed loves new York because it's a Jewish stronghold ..
It would have been easier just to say how much you wished you lived here.
