I'm writing a book review for Noujo Ami-San, and when I look at the old footage, it is plain to see how deep their relationship goes. In the beginning, Kii-Chan wanted to be close to her so bad, but I don't think Johnson understood Kii-Chan's personality. Ultimately, they ended up becoming one of the greatest duos that Nogizaka ever produced, and I hope they are still close. Most people who think of the 2nd gens and their struggles don't realize that they were chosen barely a year after the 1st generation had taken the stage, and Nogizaka's direction and trajectory had yet to be defined; no one knew what they would ultimately become, and it was up to the members themselves to find their path to greatness. This was especially true of the UnderGirls, and it was relationships like Jo-San and Kii-Chan that completed that early group, bonded the two generations, and put them on the road to the form it has today. Even today, as recently as last night's Jingu performance, I can still see glimpses of those early legends; Satsuki's dance performance gave us an instant of the "Marika Pose", and I could almost hear Kii-Chan's voice during the intro of "Actually" ("You know I need to find something, real bad[-o]" )! Kii-Chan, as always, much love from the USA, and if your schedules ever permit, take your beloved sister Jo-San out to lunch someday and enjoy remembering those precious moments!!
