I had a long distance relationship with my girlfriend. We waited for each other a year and the distance between us was 8000km. It was really hard, but our relationship became stronger - however, I wouldn't do it again, because it just drains your energy.
After that year, I moved to the country she moved to the year before and we've been living together ever since.
My advice:
If you're in a long distance relationship, always remember this; it's like taking a leap of faith and nothing can prepare you for the experience. You have to communicate a lot with each other, talk about your fears, explain the smallest details of things you're up to, have patience and just trust each other..

Sharing is important because it makes the other person feels included in eveything you do.. people you meet.. what a certain person makes you see things in another way for it helps your person to understand your thoughts and learn the you that you discover from.talking to others..
I've been in a long distance relationship for over a year, America/Australia and it's the happiest most beautiful and strongest relationship I've ever been in. I've never felt more in love and stable in my life, I'll be moving there one day and trust me if you're in a long distance relationship, pull through and fight and love with everything you have because a couple months, couple years is nothing compared to a lifetime

I had a long distance relationship that felt awful similar to the one shown in the video (nobody cheated, but the insidious disappearance of love was just the same). The best thing you can do is try to break up on good terms. It hurts initially but in the end it becomes so much better. Living your life missing someone and being on your phone as opposed to in the moment never appealed to me.
Just know that if it's meant to be, it's meant to be.

My aunt met her partner online. Canada/Bangkok. They communicated for months. After 6 months her partner came to visit her. She stayed for a couple of weeks. A month later, my aunt moved to Canada. They got married, and have now been together for 10 years! They even have a scrapbook of their love journey. Literally goals.
That gives me so much hope. I myself am in an LDR, but tbh, it's even harder when you're still young. There's the control of the parents, money, etc. but I think it depends on both of you and how willing you are. If there's a will, there's a way. I would literally move mountains and oceans just to see my gf, but then again, we've only been together for 4 months. No rush. It may take time: time to build your relationship, and time to prepare, but if you love each other, it's worth it. =)Best wishes to you all. ^.^

I know this all too well. Me and me gf lived on opposite coasts of the United States. She was in California (where I'm from) and I was stationed in Washington DC at the time. We were long distance for a year. Constantly texting, FaceTime every night. I got to see her 3 different times throughout that year. Tearful goodbyes every single time we parted. I was lucky enough to get stationed back in San Diego so now we've been living together. My advice to anyone in a ldr; don't give up, communicate, always try to set a date to when you're gonna see each other next. Just don't wait for nothing. It really is worth it in the end and it makes you a much stronger couple if you get through it.

man, I've got u a crazy story.
Not all LDR are like this. I have been with my gf for what is going to be three years in May 2017. She's in Florida, US and I'm in Sydney, Australia which is probably one the most furthest locations you can get. We are very much so in love with each other and we always talk about the day when the distance won't matter. We'll be in the same bed and wake up together. We'll be able to have our own children and make sure to raise them to not be hateful and that they're loved unconditionally. We just want to grow old together and create wonderful memories. It is going to take a little time to be able to be with her but I won't give up until we're together and she's in my arms. I just hope others won't give up on their LDR.

I have a girlfriend. We've been together for 6 months and 13 days. I know I'm kind of lucky because I can meet her more than just once a year. I know I am lucky because she's only 1h30 away from me. I also know that I shouldn't complain. But I fucking know how it feels.
Everytime we meet, we feel so happy, and complete. And everytime I have to leave her, I feel like leaving a piece of me with her. Everytime she leaves if feel like my heart is breaking. And it gets worse with time. The first week is okay, the second is good, but when it becomes a month or more, we just can't take it. We just start fighting for nothing, I get insanely jealous, she can't even sleep, and we're both talking coldly, until me can meet again.
But everytime I can see her, I know, deep in my heart, thatt's worth it. She's worth it.

This short film really touched my heart. It' so easy to find yourself hopelessly in love with someone that you can't realistically be with. And even though you know the limitations of that relationship...of that person, it doesn't stop you from wanting them.
This made me realize how I truly like this girl, a friend of mine for years, who is miles away from me. Dang, should have said it before but now it's too late.
I've been in a long distance relationship for almost a month now. And even though its been such a short time, I feel so happy with who I'm with. it's difficult a lot though because her parents take her phone a lot and they don't know about us. I lived in Colorado my whole life. In 7th grade I met my best friend. We were both relationships so I never noticed him. I moved to Texas in july of 2016. Both of our relationships ended with those people and we started talking more about our life and ourselves. Got to know eachother and ultimatly fell deeply in love. Im moving back this summer and this long distance thing has showed us so much more about eachother and I plan to share the rest of my life with that man. I'm glad there are so many lesbian couples out there that are even happy and in a stable relationship at least. Me and my gf have only been together for 3 years but have been doing this LDR thing for 18 months and she already has a side girl. Damn. Because she "couldn't handle the loneliness". So appreciate what you have, girls! Even though it's long distance and the wait is frustrating, at least your girl is loyal and committed, makes you feel special and hasn't given up!
I was 15 when I first watched this video, I couldn't even imagine I would watch this video again when I am 19 and just had a breakup after 2 years of long distance relationship. It hurts how real things become so meaningless and turn into memories... She was here a couple months ago, me made Christmas plans and just a week after that she told me she needed to not be in a relationship anymore, she ended it. Now Christmas is coming and even though everything she made me go through while we were dating, I still remember the good times we had and it hurts.

Ooh this reminds me of my long distance relationship. We were together for three months then, separated by distance, only lasted two more months. Long distance relationships sucks! It's just so much missing.
this hurts me. i've never been in an actual ldr and honestly don't think I'd ever be interested in one nor need one since my girlfriend lives 5 minutes from me. but I wouldn't be strong enough to handle that

Im so happy someone captured the true struggles of long distance. SOOO many people say omg your goals when really it hurts us so much. A lot of work gets put into it and it feels like ur waiting for something that may not even come u just want to feel their hands on you and their warmth and know the wait is over. JUST SO U CAN WAIT AGAIN!! I really do love this me and my gf have been dating for 6 months now and this is just wow (: And the truth is everyone in a relationship around me takes theirs for granted so i laugh when they brake up in 2 weeks or LESS!! This is the strongest relationship i have been in and im proud to be in it despite the pain.

I was so close to having an LDR work out.... we were together for a year and a half. A month into planning her moving here, she left me. I've not been with anyone since. It was the most devastating thing I'd ever gone through, relationship wise. I hope I can have an everlasting love someday.
