- Continuing the backyard golf green build and getting the area ready for some seed. Seed preparation is one of the most important steps in this whole build. If we don't do this right, I could be dealing with weeds and lots of other problems.

I wish I saw this video in spring. I prepped my front lawn and just put some couch seed straight down. I've literally got half a green bin full of crab grass and crows foot that I've hand pulled over the week. Germinating as much of the weed seed first is definitely a good lawn tip. Live and learn.
That's some project to do more or less on your own. I have been filming a golf green getting made at Clandeboye GC this Autumn and winter. I hope to finish the filming this week. It's been really interesting to watch your video as I work on my own one. What you have done here is amazing.

Preparation is the key your doing well.
Best to spend a bit more time now dealing with weeds etc than later when you got seed down.

Where I live you must keep buffer zones when spraying near open bodies of water, 10 m in most cases

VERY interested to learn that glyphosate has such short residual effect - I have laboured under the belief that it took six weeks to break down. Great to know now.

Quick question from NZ - currently have a kikuyu lawn that we're thinking about either renovating or replacing with Bermuda or Perennial Rye. We're in Auckland so clay soils, lots of rain/humidity etc. What would you do in our shoes?

Yo Ben loving the series mate! Not sure if you have already mentioned it somewhere but just wondering what happens with the black plastic sticking out the top? Do you cut it off? Or you still building up the height of the green/surround?
Great expansion of the purpose of bent grass and the weed spraying Ben. Will there be any residual weed seeds in the soil after 2 or 3 cycles of water & Glycosol?

There will still me some weed seed in there I have no doubt. Can only prevent so much, hopefully I get the majority of it though!

Yeah unfortunately the pre- emergent will stop the grass germinating

OCD rule number one never rush a perfection grass layout
Do you have any concerns about the shadows the trees behind the green are casting?
Not at all. Luckily it’s only the first few hours in the morning. I was filming around 7-10 most mornings in the vid when the shadows are there.
The trees will get a little trim though to help a bit on the other side of the fence
Hi Ben. I noticed that plan has a bunker around the green. Are you still planning to put this in? If so, wouldn’t it be ideal to do this before seeding the rye?
I’ve decided to move it up the back of the green. Won’t be doing that until winter. (Will be behind the rye)
What's the temp there? Here in the US, our days are getting longer, so yall are on the downward swing in daylight hours. Right?

Couch is the same as Bermuda grass 👍🏽
Just be aware Reece are extremely over priced, I don’t know your set up, quantities or endorsements but they are around 3-6 times more expensive then almost every other irrigation mob. Being a plumber myself I hardly ever go to Reece because they are such a rip off.
But on topic I can’t wait to see how this goes as I’m doing the same to my own. Know of anyways to get rid of kik out of a lawn permanently?
