Those who suggest building a 5-10,000 seater stadium must enjoy watching a snooker match through binoculars or on an overhead tv screen.
I was there for the whole weekend and I saw Hossein Vafaei walk in the front entrance with a friend when I was in the foyer. It certainly does not smell and Hossein appeared very happy and comfortable when I briefly spoke with him. All the talk is for the headlines ladies and gents, Hossein loves to stir the pot! The Crucible is a brilliant venue

Well said Allan. No other venue can replace the Crucible. It's like a pilgrimage for the fans. Also, the pressure with the fans being so close during the early stages of the tournament is what it's all about. If they move it to China the european fans will not be able to watch most of the matches. Saudi Arabia showed during the Riyad event that the fans there are not that interested in it and behaved poorly during matches with the food and not standing still. It will be a massive mistake to move the WC from the Crucible. Sometimes, it's not all about money and big crowds.
you ahve to keep it in great Britain but they can make a new nicer venue with separate musltiple rooms for different tables and like we need more space all around. the fans have to be british

At least Ronnie had earned the respect of players and pundits by his performances and has been doing so for over 30 years - so, you can value his opinion a little bit more, and not have a knee jerk rection like they have here with Hossein.
In the grand scheme of things, if Hossein retired tomorrow, he'd only be remembered for smashing the pack up vs. Ronnie... his opinion is worth nothing. In fact, he should know his place and respect the conditions like everyone else has done since 1977, until he wins a few ranking events. People then *might* take him seriously.

The biggest snooker event needs a bigger better venue, players sitting beside each other, less than 1000 people backstage is a dump, this is now a world sport time to lose the nostalgia file. Jimmy doesn’t complain when Ronnie gives out about it. The masters had nostalgia in Wembley conference, has it suffered moving to Ally Pally? I don’t think so. I’m with Hossein here

Yes, I agree with Alan and Jimmy. It should be remembered that the snooker table is relatively small, so what's the point of building a huge arena for 10,000 spectators if it means that the table is just a dot in the horizon. Moreover, the world championships and Masters are, in my opinion, only tournaments, which have a unique atmosphere. The added pressure of the cramped space, crow sitting right next to you, and the noise from the other side of the screen is part of the challenge of becoming world champion as much as the ability to be able thrive in a long format.
This is why I love to watch the world championships. Whereas other tournaments in the calendar are more or less the same. Same table, quite similar layout of the arena, and matches best of 7 or 9.
Great thing about the crucible is you can see the tables easily from anywhere as it’s not too big. Move to some massive arena then you’d better off watching at home on the tv as you won’t be able to see the table in row Z

ally pally would be a great place while the crucible gets a proper renovation. where outside the uk could you fill 2000 seats/ session for 2 weeks? the crucible is a great, intimate venue. if someone wants to pay for it to be replicaded with 5000 seats, go ahead, it will most likely lack atmosphere and be a financial black hole.

The crowd booed him, and from memory, he was fined about 4 thousand pounds. Vafai won't get anything at all. This is purely about moving the WC to Saudi and getting everyone prepared for it.

Ever since the crucible was built in the early 70s actors adore the place ..this is a venue held in very very high regard by the majority of snooker fans ..who cares what he thinks ?..the world championships belong at this one off venue

I'd say there's a ring a truth about what he's saying. The world snooker championships should have a better venue. Look at the top football stadiums round the world compared to years ago. Same with Grand slam Tennis venues. Same with other sports. Snooker needs a top venue holding 5 or 10 thousand people and none of this 2 table set up . The game , the fans and the players deserve better.
I'm 25 miles from the crucible but I still think it's time things changed. Snooker is a world game now and needs a proper world championship venue. If it was up to me I'd rotate it between 4 or 5 venues worldwide including the crucible. One in China, one in Saudi for the cash injection.

Hossein is complaining about the conditions purely because he lost. Simple. I mean, if he said its too cramped around the tables, fair enough, but that's part of the atmosphere. He's not even referring to that, said it smells and is "really bad".

I've never been at the Crucible, I've heard other players say that it's an old venue, that it needs some renovation, but what Vafaei said was plain rude. Even if it is horrible, even if it does smell, you are a guest there, you can't go public and talk like that about your hosts.

I'll be visiting The Crucible for the very first time next week. Clearly there has been many comments, by many top players, over the years about this facility being antiquated. Let's see what it's like... but I don't blindly trust talking heads.
