never heard of these guys before, and I'm 17.. but I've been listening to them all day. I was definitely born in the wrong time. it's so FRUSTRATING to live with the music of today and then find things like this!!!
The unofficial house band for UNT. I will never forget them playing this song to open up at Otay’s on the back patio and everybody went nutz. We were so lucky back then to have all the great music being played on campus.
They were my first show ever when I was 15 in like 95' at the Bronco bowl in Dallas. My older sister's friend had an extra ticket so I went and they totally blew my little mind haha! saw them 10 times , Favorite band in Highschool. I still love all their albums but Jesus hits like the Atom bomb still gives me butterflies. You ever have certain songs that you cant describe how they effect you? Like they feel like a warm blanket over your body? Some songs feel like how love feels like inside your body.......... "Trying to talk about music is like trying to DANCE to architecture." I am fully aware ;)
Same but i am about 10 years your senior - I passed out in the middle of one of those moshpits and woke up to the whole crowd surfing me off ! IT WAS EPIC!!!
man i try to explain to peeps but there just arent words.. freedom and wild fun shows every few days . just dont seem to capture it all. DFW in the 90's was a dream
Saw these guys on Halloween some night in the early 90s before Bill was released on major label. Down in Deep Ellum. Trees maybe. An awesome show from what I can recall. Early acid years for me, ya know. But....I loved what they had to offer musically and still do. Tim's done a lot of great music with the Daisies and afterward. Hope he and them continue. Take care.
They used to play at Ricks in Denton when I went to UNT. Heard them all the time along with the Nixons and Deep Blue Something. Lucky to go to school there at this time of age.
Umbrella... you where a scrum bumb. Oh yea, that was you in clamation in BLOWN AWAY!! 😂😂😂😂. HAPPY FOR ALL OF THEM!! so sorry for the loss. But still the best of life to all.😅
I remember we used to play the "tour" in Dallas/FW... and we used the same practice facility as they did (or one of them anyway). Our bass player comes in one day and says "Holy @#P#), T-D's next door!!" Of course, by this time, they were a legend. So, we interrupted their practice and got to hang out with them for about 20 minutes. Really cool group of guys. Sure made our practice better and more inspired that night!!
Dallas Texas will never be Dallas Texas to me without Tripping Daisy. Met Tim once out of the many shows I’ve been to in Deep Ellum, Granada theater, Trees etc. Loved the outdoor shows with The Polyphonic Spree and friends.
I only recently found out about Tripping Daisy recently and Bill is probably my second favorite album of all time, only beaten out by GodWeenSatan: The Oneness by Ween
Not to be a pick me - Bill was this crotchty old man that owned one of the last actual record stores in Dallas. He was a fixture for many many yearsl - met him ages ago - accused me of shop lifting I was banned and came back a week later. LOL
Me and my best friend hung out with the lead singer at shades night club Jax FL without knowing who he was. My buddy was like that guy's Kool. Next thing the lights go out and the dude comes out the back stage. We kicked it with a rock star without knowing. Awesome show
This video takes me back to a Tripping Daisy's show I caught in Denton in the early 90's at that club that later burnt down. This wa only my second time body surfing and the mosh pit was just a large group of courteous people in love with the world, jumping up and down and lifting each other up - exactly as a mosh pit should be.
Was so weird after seeing them play in front of thousands in dallas to a handful of people at clubs in colorado after i moved there, but what a treat. They have always been first class gracious and humble!!! Thanks Tim
The musicians were able to take the record industry by storm thanks to Seattle, I can't tell you how happy I am today knowing all the music I've heard seen and felt, no more rolls please, I've felt too much!!!!
Deep Ellum in the late 80's an early 90's was something! Also over in Ft worth at The Hop bye TCU i saw them. Never forget the first time i heard blown away; it was on Q102(anyone remember it?) about 4 in the morning. I sang it for weeks before they caught on on radio. Remember when "X" was legal?...on the bars in bowls and Edie Brickel was on stage. Wonder how many trips i took in Ellum???The Trees and Club Clearview were my faves.
I saw U2 when War came out. $9 dollars. General admission in Chicago. They were at the Vegas Sphere a few months ago. $4,000. What a band of the people huh?
It was a honour seeing these guys in dallas in the 90's.everyshow i would go to i couldnt get through a set without laughing bc this dude was so fucked up on drugs..lol
Thank you! I was trying to remember the name of that club! That's where I saw them too. It was one of the best concerts I ever attended, along with Jane's Addiction at Bronco Bowl.
Ive watched 2 of theyre shows at Montreal, both with only few months between and i always remembered we were the ones where they were the most loved compare to USA. I remember them pretty much, awesome shows and true they should be there again.. farewell and thanks Tripping Daisy for your musics
Saw them at the CBGB in... 92? 93? They were touring Bill. I came from France on a trip to America and saw more good bands in three weeks there than here in 10 years. They were intense and they looked dangerous and fun. Beautiful but short gig.
i met him at mohegan sun fing awsome dude great to fans he was opening for bowie he had a beer with me and my dad and watched bowie play changes with us hes a fan of him it was great
@jram415 Ned's Atomic Dustbin played at Trees, even. When times are good, you know it, but damn- why did it have to be followed by the likes of what there is now?
@xXBRAP44Xx That's great. Rest In Peace to your (Dad's) cousin (your second cousin?) They've made some great music people all over including myself have enjoyed since the mid 90's. (I'm 28)
😆 I’m floating in this video @ Dallas Trees.
God I miss the 90s

I saw them live. Was AWESOME for many reasons.😂😅😮😮😊
I found an autographed tripping daisy poster in a house today. I thought it so fitting as I still have and listen to them

What a great time, with great music.

I miss the 90's. Awsome bass lines.
Infectious song.
I loved the 90s. Bands like candies in a candy store.
I wholeheartedly agree!
The greatest band few outside of Texas knew (besides that one song). I miss y'all. RIP Wes.
I’m in Wisconsin dude ! The Bill album was one of the best that year !
These guys were incredible live! Ahh, the 90s...

We might've bumped into each other at that show 😊
They used to play at Ricks in Denton when I went to UNT. Heard them all the time along with the Nixons and Deep Blue Something. Lucky to go to school there at this time of age.
I worked backstage at several of their shows in Lubbock Texas in the early ninety's. They were the best
saw them around this time at Trees is Dallas - great energy
This has got to be the most 90s song/video ever made.
Left my computer on all night with a video on by accident, autoplay got me here. Im grateful for autoplay now ^-6
i really miss these guys.they were so awesome and original. R.I.P Wes
We used to go crazy when they played the song. I used to see them anytime they came back to N Texas! GOOD OLD DAYS! "Trees"
RIP Wes.....one of several good friends who have gone too early
Crowd surfing was still going on, at their shows... it was gone elsewhere, but IT WAS IN FULL EFFECT at their shows!
I crowd surfed at one of their shows in Odessa TX 🤩
My girlfriend loved this song and I loved her. RIP. Laura !!!
Umbrella... you where a scrum bumb. Oh yea, that was you in clamation in BLOWN AWAY!! 😂😂😂😂. HAPPY FOR ALL OF THEM!! so sorry for the loss. But still the best of life to all.😅
These guys carried the college scene nationally where R.E.M. had ruled 12 years before... Such legend
This band makes REM look like hacks.
Long live the old Trees!!! Deep Ellum is foreva!!!!
A shade of its former self now (imho), but I was slamming with you there fifteen years ago. Cheers!
Still love these guys. UNT in 1997 was awesome seeing them at Rick's Place.
East Texas State in Commerce about the same time.
Jason Brown we never get good bands out here anymore.
The show at Rick’s was amazing
I love tripping dasiy.wish they would come back with some new stuff.

It was a review by Krueger on the UK show Noisy Mothas in the 1990s how I got to find TD.... always grateful to him for recommending them..
I had no idea there was a Bill Hicks / TD connection. I'll have to punch that up.

Anyone remember when edgefest had a stacked lineup at starplex and had tripping daisy close the show? Against perennial national acts.
@grazores Tim still is a great dude. Check out his crazy choir / symphony / rock band, The Polyphonic Spree.

"Bill" that was an amazing album. I still got it but its scratched to hell.
Trees!
Now I get "Blown away".
What happened to Tripping Daisy. Are they still together?
Without Wes, they added members and became The Polyphonic Spree, who just started playing this song again.
Does anyone have an idea where they can get their hands on the live clips from this recording
Denton Fry St. Fair Represent
Shit we probably know each other somewhere down the line.
