I just watched your video and have the same problems with food and wieght. The only thing that will kill my hunger and stop my enormous craving for sweets is intermittent fasting. I am insulin resistant also and it's supposed to help with that. I've fallen off the wagon because of some medication I have to take for 4 mos before my endoscopy to check my acid reflux and hiatal hernia that makes me eat uncontrollably. And I've gained 12 lbs and have 2 mos left! Please pray for me that I can reverse my insulin resistant and that I can get of this medication or the side effects go away and that I can start intermittent fasting again because it is the only thing that works on my compulsive out of control eating.( You'd think I'd stop falling off the wagon wouldn't you?) You and your Mom and whole family are such an encouragement to live a Godly life in these crazy times. Thank you all so much for sharing your faith and family with us. And I always listen to your Dad's preaching. It's so good. Also thanks for all the you tube channels you all have started so those of us who have watched you from the very beginning. Yah! I loved how mama bates explained how she felt when Alyssa first started wearing pants. I grew up in a church that said that women wearing pants was a sin. One time a girl was wearing pants outside of school/and church, I think it was at a grocery store, and someone from the church saw her, told the pastor, and she got in trouble at school the next day. In 8th grade, I made a video explaining Biblical reasons and my research on why wearing pants wasn’t a sin. I made this video because I wear pants (modest ones) and I would get into arguments with my friends because they said it was a sin too. Anyway, two days after I made the video I got in trouble at school. I’ll never forget that day. I was told to take the video down, and was told that as long as I go to that school and church, I have to follow the same standards they follow. Anyway, there is more to that story, but I won’t get into all of it. The point is, as a Christian, the Holy Spirit convicts me that I’m doing wrong when I’m sinning. When I lie or disobey my parents, I immediately feel guilty. I don’t feel guilty wearing pants though, and haven’t been convicted otherwise. I’ve known many very kind, godly people who wear pants, and honestly, they are nicer than the people who judge me (and other young girls) for wearing pants. I know this comment is long, but let this be a lesson to all, to not judge anybody on what they look like. If they are doing wrong, God will judge. We are all sinners, and we can’t judge each other. 💛
Romans 8 answers the law side of religion vs having a relationship with God. There is no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For in Christ Jesus the Law of the Spirit set you free from the Law of Sin and Death. Rom 8:1-2
God does not see us from the outside, He sees the heart, the soul. We can not do anything to help our Salvation, EVER! Our righteousness is as filthy rags. Now does that mean we can do as we please? NO! We are to dress in women's clothing, be modest, dress to please our own husbands, if you're married, walk unashamed so the world can see His Glory. Kelly is always so joyful. @@nancyj9892 I think Kelly's attitude has evolved in a healthy way regarding her adult daughters' wardrobe choices and she understands that a woman wearing pants is not a character flaw. If you choose to only wear dresses/skirts, that's fine. However, it should never be a cause for holding everyone else to the same arbitrary wardrobe rules. Fashion is a reflection of culture and the times. What might be considered strictly a woman's or man's article of clothing in one period may not hundreds of years later.
When it comes to multiple children (I only have 3) I have always answered the question "who's your favorite" by saying, "I love them equally, but I have to love them differently!" Like Kelly said, it's because every child is different and have their own personality and needs.
I love how Mama Bates writes lovely unique birthday tributes on her Instagram for all the kids, their spouses, and grandkids! She sees each person as they are …unique, special wonderful people!
First Kelly, you deserve a standing ovation for birthing 19 kiddos!!! Not only for birthing them but you then raised each and every one of them to love God. You are amazing and you look fantastic! But if you are wanting to loose some weight for health reasons my advice for you is to start small and be consistent.
Gosh, we could all learn so much from your mom. Thanks for sharing her thoughts with us. I teared up a little when she was talking so openly and honestly about the pants. I think we all have to grow and learn as people and parents, and that's not easy. I love how she reminded us to be open to our kids hearing from God for themselves and how we can both do different things for us and that that's okay. She's just the best 🥰

I agree that the Bates are a very attractive family. However, Kelly is obviously concerned about losing weight. Her doctors have told her it's a health issue and that her quality of life would improve if she does. She'd also likely live longer with good health to enjoy her family. Telling her not to change a thing about herself is basically saying that her doctors don't know what they're talking about. I speak from experience. Carrying around a lot of extra weight can and does carry significant risk to one's health in general- among them are high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, heart and kidney disease. I know that losing weight and keeping it off is hard work, however I'm sure Kelly wants to enjoy many more years with her children and grandkids, as they do with her.
Your mom is so real and down to earth. I so appreciate her views on how we all change and grow and how its ok that we dont remain the same. No shame in that, no guilt in that. How healthy!

She really does love each and every one of her children and she is also so very honest and true with her feelings. I found a way to get around “ the favorite child” issue with my two daughters. I have a favorite Sara and a favorite Lyndsey because they are both so special to me. I think this would help when this “favorite “ issue comes up!!! 😀💕💕💕
I only have 2. I honestly answer by saying each of them have parts of my favorite in them. It’s true. I love them the same, but also different. I hope that makes sense. I also have 1 boy and 1 girl.
I absolutely adore these questions and answers. As a mama of 4, each 2 were 1 year apart, but it was HARD. My husband is usually deployed and I have no help and I try and keep everything clean and tidy and cook home cooked meals but it is work and to see a woman have so many littles and still look timeless and so well spoken, it's inspiring.

I’ve gotten rid of 240 pounds - without surgery/medication. Honestly- the best advice came from my ob/gyn. Only shop the outer perimeter of the grocery store (dairy/produce/bakery/meat) and nothing white/processed. Then go to the shelter and fall in love with a hyper dog that needs daily walks. When I started walking it took me an hour to go one block and back and I had to stop and rest half way. Challenge yourself to 50 extra steps every single day. Im up to 7.3 miles a day, found I actually enjoy jogging and I feel so good. Just keep trying. Don’t cut out your favorites- just make sure you eat a lot through out the day- no missing meals- and do not eat more than how big your fist is. That’s how big your stomach is- so you shouldn’t eat more than that- I eat 6-8 times a day- sometimes a handful of nuts, but just something. The more you eat, the better your metabolism will be. You’ll probably gain a couple pounds the first week- just keep going, it takes time! And it should!

He said yes, let’s make plans! (This was April 2021.) Our Grandson was graduating High School the end of May 2021! We live in Texas (in the western part-close to Odessa/Midland). So we left home on July 9, 2021. We are retired so we can travel and visit places and see things and not have to be back any certain time and that’s a blast!! I would have loved to have visited your Dad’s congregation!! That would have made my year!! We drove to Kentucky and went through the ARK!!! Oh my…that was FANTASTIC!! I never would have known anything about THE ARK ENCOUNTER if I hadn’t have seen it on the show!! Thank your parents for me!! That was so very inspiring to both of us!! We have told our families about everything we seen and the thing we did and took pictures of the Ark and sent them to our family’s. (My niece and her husband are planning on going and my sister-in-law and her husband are planning on going!). We have even talked about going back!! If we do, we want to be in your parents area, on a Sunday--we would absolutely love to be Visitors in your Dad’s Church!! So fun and delightful to listen to Kelly! Kelly try intermittent fasting. No diet, no points, no tracking. Just go at least 12-14 hours without eating or drinking anything other the plain tea, coffee and water. It allows your body time to use stored fat for energy. I’m in my late 60’s and have lost 30+ pounds and kept it off for a few years now. I no longer have acid reflux too!! Thanks for sharing with us.❤️

I would LOVE it if you could make this a type of series .... whenever one of your siblings come to visit, or you go to visit them (i.e., your grandparents, your aunts and uncles, of course your dad, etc.) you could have a video of just them - either asking them questions from us or asking them to share what they've been up to since filming stopped ....anything to let us all still "spend time" with them. When it comes to multiple children (I only have 3) I have always answered the question "who's your favorite" by saying, "I love them equally, but I have to love them differently!" Like Kelly said, it's because every child is different and have their own personality and needs.

I love how Mama Bates writes lovely unique birthday tributes on her Instagram for all the kids, their spouses, and grandkids! She sees each person as they are …unique, special wonderful people!

First Kelly, you deserve a standing ovation for birthing 19 kiddos!!! Not only for birthing them but you then raised each and every one of them to love God. You are amazing and you look fantastic!
But if you are wanting to loose some weight for health reasons my advice for you is to start small and be consistent.

Gosh, we could all learn so much from your mom. Thanks for sharing her thoughts with us. I teared up a little when she was talking so openly and honestly about the pants. I think we all have to grow and learn as people and parents, and that's not easy. I love how she reminded us to be open to our kids hearing from God for themselves and how we can both do different things for us and that that's okay. She's just the best 🥰

I agree that the Bates are a very attractive family. However, Kelly is obviously concerned about losing weight. Her doctors have told her it's a health issue and that her quality of life would improve if she does. She'd also likely live longer with good health to enjoy her family. Telling her not to change a thing about herself is basically saying that her doctors don't know what they're talking about. I speak from experience. Carrying around a lot of extra weight can and does carry significant risk to one's health in general- among them are high blood pressure, diabetes, stroke, heart and kidney disease. I know that losing weight and keeping it off is hard work, however I'm sure Kelly wants to enjoy many more years with her children and grandkids, as they do with her.

I only have 2. I honestly answer by saying each of them have parts of my favorite in them. It’s true. I love them the same, but also different. I hope that makes sense. I also have 1 boy and 1 girl.
I absolutely adore these questions and answers. As a mama of 4, each 2 were 1 year apart, but it was HARD. My husband is usually deployed and I have no help and I try and keep everything clean and tidy and cook home cooked meals but it is work and to see a woman have so many littles and still look timeless and so well spoken, it's inspiring.
The golden nugget of information was her response to the “pants” question! 🥰

I’ve gotten rid of 240 pounds - without surgery/medication. Honestly- the best advice came from my ob/gyn. Only shop the outer perimeter of the grocery store (dairy/produce/bakery/meat) and nothing white/processed. Then go to the shelter and fall in love with a hyper dog that needs daily walks. When I started walking it took me an hour to go one block and back and I had to stop and rest half way. Challenge yourself to 50 extra steps every single day. Im up to 7.3 miles a day, found I actually enjoy jogging and I feel so good. Just keep trying. Don’t cut out your favorites- just make sure you eat a lot through out the day- no missing meals- and do not eat more than how big your fist is. That’s how big your stomach is- so you shouldn’t eat more than that- I eat 6-8 times a day- sometimes a handful of nuts, but just something. The more you eat, the better your metabolism will be. You’ll probably gain a couple pounds the first week- just keep going, it takes time! And it should!

The one episode where The Bates Family went to “The Ark Encounter!” At that time, I didn’t know that even existed! I paused the TV and immediately looked it up on my iPad! I showed it to my husband (we’ve been married almost 44 years) and told him I would like for us to go through THE ARK! He said yes, let’s make plans! (This was April 2021.) Our Grandson was graduating High School the end of May 2021! We live in Texas (in the western part-close to Odessa/Midland). So we left home on July 9, 2021. We are retired so we can travel and visit places and see things and not have to be back any certain time and that’s a blast!! I would have loved to have visited your Dad’s congregation!! That would have made my year!! We drove to Kentucky and went through the ARK!!! Oh my…that was FANTASTIC!! I never would have known anything about THE ARK ENCOUNTER if I hadn’t have seen it on the show!! Thank your parents for me!! That was so very inspiring to both of us!! We have told our families about everything we seen and the thing we did and took pictures of the Ark and sent them to our family’s. (My niece and her husband are planning on going and my sister-in-law and her husband are planning on going!). We have even talked about going back!! If we do, we want to be in your parents area, on a Sunday--we would absolutely love to be Visitors in your Dad’s Church!!
I would be interested in hearing what your Dad’s answers might be to some of the same questions that was asked if your Mother!

So fun and delightful to listen to Kelly! Kelly try intermittent fasting. No diet, no points, no tracking. Just go at least 12-14 hours without eating or drinking anything other the plain tea, coffee and water. It allows your body time to use stored fat for energy. I’m in my late 60’s and have lost 30+ pounds and kept it off for a few years now. I no longer have acid reflux too!! Thanks for sharing with us.❤️
Alyssa - I cannot thank you enough for doing this video!!! I miss seeing your mother and father so very much since the TV show is no longer on. I would LOVE it if you could make this a type of series .... whenever one of your siblings come to visit, or you go to visit them (i.e., your grandparents, your aunts and uncles, of course your dad, etc.) you could have a video of just them - either asking them questions from us or asking them to share what they've been up to since filming stopped ....anything to let us all still "spend time" with them. Please, please, please consider doing this!!!
You could even do one video where you ask each grandchild (that you can get to at the time or have their parent ask them and film their answer to send to you) a specific question - it would be great fun to hear all the different answers you might get!
