Awesome stuff brothers! I absolutely love Eddie Shaver. It fills my heart with happiness any time some sings praise to Eddie and Billy Joe. Two great human beings and musicians. Like father, like son. God bless you men!
i cant imagine being a guitar player in a band with eddy shaver... there was never, ever going to be any contribution thst wasnt overshadowed by him.. RIP.
Damon's story on meeting Eddy reminds me of Robbie Robertson's story of when Roy Buchanan sat in with the Hawks....Robbie described him as a "gun slinger"....Eddy surely was another guitar playing gun slinger...a very small and elite group right there.
Eddy was a monster - certainly the best I’ve ever heard. He was on a different planet from Stevie Ray Vaughn, Clapton and the other alleged greats. He and Hendrix were peers, maybe, but I can’t think of anyone else who could rock out like Eddy could. It’s no wonder Dicky Betts gave him a Gibson 335 when he was 14. Dicky knew.
Great story Damon on your awakening through meeting Eddie Shaver! I was living in North Little Rock Arkansas when I heard Billy Joe Shaver on the radio as I was driving to Hot Springs and was instantly captured by his authenticity unlike the current music scene around..Delving deeper into Billy Joe’s musical catalog I found another gold nugget in the form of Eddie Shaver..So fortunate to have had the radio on and heard these two great artists..The motherload of gold was struck after hearing these two..So happy for you to have had that opportunity to grow as a human being
Damon .we were ptoud of his guitar work on Brother Cane..that name.if your from the Baptist faith. U would have regonized that name. Hard shell Baptist. There band to me was on spot. In the early nineties. Alot of was going on the north west. But them and George Satelites keep it bluesy rock. GREAT JOB. FROM it little Geraldine .Bama. got no shame. Eddie Shavers. Was home brew Texas spanish style .Cowboy days .great player .Nuthin fancy about them..Thanks.
@@jongalleog3486 Not sure if he’s on any recordings, but he did fill in for Pete Anderson some. Here’s a video of Eddy w/ Dwight: th-cam.com/video/tj3PG3FSgfY/w-d-xo.htmlsi=e6RLb2HyiAyQzx1F
