I like your mathematical reviews a great deal. When you recommend a book, I look for it online right away - bookmarking it if I find it.
The stamp on the title page says “LSU.” Nice!!!!
:)
“I can just smell the mathematics!” You are the best!!
Hehe
Separation of variables and method of characteristics are useful in solving PDEs.
Definitely!

Hey, I'm a subscriber, and I have been seeing your videos for a while and I was wondering if maybe you could just make a video on a book(s) good for the Math GRE subject test and data science (I want to switch majors into this one)? I can't find any single good book, but maybe you might know best! If you don't have time for anything like that (given the type of your content), are you familiar with the test and major enough to recommend a solid book? (My college books are unfortunately inadequate outside of introductory calculus).
Thank you!
so, I don't know where to ask this question...but so far no one has been able to give me an answer I can understand. I am teaching 5th grade. The state wants us to teach converting fractions to decimals. This all makes sense for things such as: 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 + 1/4 =1 and when changing 1/4 =0.25, then similarly, 0.25 + 0.25 + 0.25 +0.25 =1 . However, when looking at 1/3 + 1/3 + 1/3 =1 , changing 1/3 to a decimal give 0.3 (repeating), and so when adding the decimal, you never actually get the sum to equal 1, as in other decimal. I do understand this idea of the number approaching a sum that equals one, but makes not sense when you think about breaking apart something that for some fraction/decimals it will equal one and other it will not. I am sure these is some math logic in the way numbers work, which I understand, but when considering physical object that can be divided into thirds I don't know how to explain it (especially if a student will point out that 0.3 repeated and added 3 times does not equal 1. Can you explain?
👌
