excellent display of natural body movements transitioned to atttacks, and the relaxed sense lets you feel when a hits comming since your paying more attention to the person's aggro rather then what your gonna do.
I remember you! My friend and I trained with you a few times until our military schedule became too difficult. I still remember those few things you taught me for 5 pounds. Get their body to bend in different directions and watch them telegraph their shoulders. My friend went to Serbia to train with one of the senior instructors.
I'd recommend going to a Systema studio to feel for yourself how devastating these strikes are. The hardest hits I've ever taken were from Systemists. A big part of it is the lingering, deep penetration of the hit. Rather than snapping back the strike, there is great follow-through and severe shock on the body.
I'm thinking of getting into SOME Martial Art (I have yet to figure out what one I would like to learn most) but I like taking non-East Asian styles into consideration as well like Systema and Capoeira. Thanks for the strengthening tips it should help prepare me once I chose. :D
All martial artists can learn from this..the style I pass on is (similar)with this fluid understandig of "what does what."...its like cooking, you know what ingredient will generate a sensation, feeling or reaction, therefore understanding .
im a boxer and just looking at the techniques i just dont think they look like they would do enough damage to disable someone, theres no weight going into the punches. although some of the self defense parts i.e misleading an opponent into them thinking you arent going to strike are pretty cool and well thought out. i also like the look of some of some of the exercises you guys do, like climbing the pole, thats a great tricep exercise. ill see if i can find somewhere to give it a try myself.
to mma fighter: systema is a street fighting style, thats means they can eye gauge you, use the hook, groin strikes ..... and dont take me wrong mma fighters have great abilities in,fact i have done it for over 2 years now and i know that we can beat a boxer or a street fighter by bringing him to the ground simply, but to all fighter you gotta realize that in systema are involved many urban features such as knives, fighting on concrete and using the enviroment against the enemy
Not speaking in favor of -or against- Systema. Some folks whom I greatly respect this training methodology so I'm going to give it a try & see for myself. From what I've seen the concepts are feasible for everything for empty handed fighting to optimal use of the AK in CQB. MMA is to be respected but I don't give a shit about sports fighting. I want to be lethal with everything at my disposal.
I share some of your misgivings...... i'm interested enough to seek out Systema training as soon as I can get to a seminar......but the static exercise do look as though there isn't as much power. Guess i'll find out!
I like this and it does make a lot of sense, however, this concept of pre-emptive striking is not new nor is it limited only to systema. Bruce Lee and many before him have propagated this concept, hence the name Bruce used to describe his art Jeet Kune Do (Way of the Intercepting fist) which is all about pre-emptive striking. The one-inch power punch is perfect for someone getting in your face and wanting to do something.
Lingering, deep penetration? Dang, that sounds a lot like an internal kung fu strike. I've really gotta meet some Systema guys and check out how you guys hit.
i do muay thai myself and have had an interest in taking up systema for sometime, but unfortunately with unpredictable work schedule i have time only to do muay thai *sigh*
Crap. I hate it when you're pretty much right. This IS what Aikido was supposed to be. This is the kinda stuff Ueshiba was doing in the Russo-Japanese war. This is the kinda stuff that had him breaking people in his younger days. I train in Aikido that's similar to this, but, yeah, the art as a whole has really gone down the drain. I may have some problems with SYSTEMA training methods, but it solid and it works.
@hobbesthecat7 Muaithai is a sport where you're facing someone in a ring practicing the same sport, doesn't try to kill you and doesn't have any weapon. Muaythai won't be of a great help in such situation.
I've been street fighting since i can remember. I've never had my ass kicked so easily as in systema classes. I've been doin it for almost a year now and its incredible. I also love Mua Thai but dude have an open mind. Ill put money on it that you've never tried systema and of course your bias to your style of fighting, thats completely understandable but just do some research other than youtube... knowledge never hurts
In British law you ARE allowed to hit someone first if you BELIEVE you have to at that moment - as long as whatever force you use is reasonable and justified.
I used to train at Vladimir's school in Thornhill, but recently I've moved to Edmonton. Is there anyone here that would be looking a training partner, experienced or otherwise? Feel free to message me on here and maybe we can set something up.
UFC has rules... ufc fighters train with rules in mind. they fight for fighting's sake. systema and a lot of other martial arts fight to defend yourself. the single thought in the mind is going home in one piece. in that sense, ufc is pointless. great entertainment though.
Rob P consistently puts the best Systema vids on the net - very cool! I can't believe this was free!?!
This was very clear and well explained. It was nice to see a variety of skill levels demonstrating. The punching from odd angles is very useful.
One of the better explanations I've seen in regards to Systema.
excellent display of natural body movements transitioned to atttacks, and the relaxed sense lets you feel when a hits comming since your paying more attention to the person's aggro rather then what your gonna do.
very impressed, and no haters! This says something about the quality of this system.

Bravo! Very good instruction! Thank you for sharing.
Glad it was helpful!
Looks good Rob, very well presented.
No.1 art I wanna learn! Sadly I don't know where to train here in the philippines :((

Could you make a playlist so I can watch all your videos in order?
Interesting and well presented. Thanks

Wow. I've trained a little bit of some of these things, i.e. the striking, in Aikido class. My instructor trains systema.
good demo, very similar to wing chun in relaxing the punch until contact
Lovely stuff...thanks for posting

Well done, I am surprised no trolls have mobbed this one.
what is the name of the song at the beginning? thank you

There are a lot of parallels between IMA and systema, and many practitioners train in both.
thinking about it if i can afford it with may thai as well is there full contact free sparring
arlington county is basically washington dc, the other side of the potomac river. but if you wanna spar we gotta get friendly first haha
@mattm1836 double leg takedown? This isn't for MMA or wrestling, this is for street self defense.

Cool stuff.
whats the name of the song at the beginning?
looks intersting. it´s good advertising too of course. got me curious.

where are you training ? i would like to pop in and try this system
hm.. i wonder why when 1 person attack not that hard, but the other person suddenly struggle down... any body can please explain me why?

How long do you guys think a real fight lasts?
Systema works pretty well when someone is trying to kill you.
this system is to inflict as much damage with as little possible energy expenditure

THIS LOOKS FUN BUT I LIKE MUAY THAI!!!
great stuff SYSTEMA,BALLS UP THE COMMENT...I.LEFT thanks rob rich.
Three words...BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU. I´d like to see what they´ll do on the ground.
why is systema so easy to learn
@mattm1836 u obviously missed the whole point, try to understand what is Systema before droping some random pointless comments
@hobbesthecat7 I feel bad for you.
😃😃😃
@neocyberwarrior see website at systemauk dot com
Good.
I'm getting a 'lazy' vibe from this art.
seems a lot like combative tai chi
@4:00 haha

some good stuff, some really bad techniques as well. just my opinion
krav maga is better!
