it's pretty viable if you know how to play it, without double action surge abusing lords stance block with action surge white flame charge and having good tracking with your block will be where you wanna improve the most if you don't wanna do double action. You're missing out on a massive portion of damage output though.
I macro in EU ping cause I do the combos too fast and it often results in me having no charge when I double action. So I actually have to make the macro set to a slower speed at the moment it equips the charge.
