Well, they are smart, that much is clear
Eren was silent (that’s against his nature) all the time during the trial while being called a monster and threatened to be killed, but he went completely feral when they threatened mikasa and he even fully accepted being called a monster after he was told that he tried to kill her. “I might be a monster but she has nothing to do with it”.

I don’t understand how there are some different sub translations that get Levi’s rank wrong. In this one, it’s lance corporal, in another it says commander, when it has always been captain.
Well the dub literally completely changes mikasa’s personality… so it’s not that big a deal in comparison lmao.

This isn't a spoiler but wanted to share that Erwin and Levi were both already aware that Eren had regeneration powers (from the reports of the Battle of Trost, etc). So Levi knew this when he beat the sh*t out of Eren in the courtroom.
It was still just a bet by them, because they only have ever seen him regenerate after being a titan, right? they're not sure yet if he can also regenerate even on his human form

you can just pronounce the names as how the anime pronounces it
Miche Zacharius is the original spelling in the anime (Mike Zacharias for manga and fans translation).
Japanese do not pronounce words like English alphabet, hence they combine the 2 words and call it mi-ke or mi-che or mee-kay
Suggest to use the original official english subtitles.
Also . Hange Zoe is pronounce as Hanji Zoe in the official. Han-ji 2 syllabus as the anime pronounce it.
PLEASE WATCH "your lie in april" I watched it 2 days ago and i can't believe how good it is, I still want to see Aot but I want to see 2 grown, smart, analytic men watch it. I think it would be better to watch 2 eps at a time so you can get it out of the way and get back to aot.

In fact for this case, Pixis already explained if you are ruled by fear, you cannot fight the titans. that is not reverse psychology, that makes perfect sense. so while they get to spend time with their family, it will only be a short while. so why not sacrifice to the good of their own family, everyone's family. that is a stronger motivation.

The subtitles you have been using are a bit different, you should get the original official English subtitles. It may not be perfect english as it is translated from Japanese literally (you can tell when you read the official ones). but the words used are more clear, more accurate in their meanings and intentions.
These subtitles you used have been modified to be more grammatically correct and in sentence structure. it is more for proper english speaking audience. but they changed the words used, hence it changes the meaning and intention to certain degrees.
For example, in 30:12, instead of saying "I'm certain I could kill him. The problem is that there'll be no alternative."
it sounds like Levi "thinks" he can do it, due to the phrasing of the sentence and words used. Sounds like he has no other choice (no alternative).
but in the original official English subtitles, he said : "I'm certain I can kill him. The only problem is I doubt I can do any less".
here Levi sounds confident which aligns with the scene. He speaks in a rhetoric manner to bring out a point to Darius Zackly, and this is very different from "The problem is that there'll be no alternative". The word "only" is omitted. makes a big difference in conveying the intention.
This is just one line. imagine, the whole episode, the whole anime, all the intentions and character portrayal are lost. That's why people argue about subs, different subs and dubs. The words used are different. Some other subtitles simplified the sentences and cut out words. The meanings are all lost.
I've read over this twice, but I don't understand how "no alternative" sounds less confident then "I doubt I could do less."
I thought it was an interesting change, but I'm more distracted by the fact that _finally_ a subtitle doesn't put that "like a dog" part that bothers me (and reactors reading it)

Sorry this is getting long, it turned into a vent moment because for every anime I see there's an obvious mistranslation or localization for _easy_ phrases that even I can hear (it's part of why I dropped jjba in 1x1 )
I personally think you only need to skip the intro for season 3 pt2 and season 4 pt2. Those intros are kinda spoiler landmines.

“Han-Ji” “Zoh-ee” for Hange Zoe and they go by Hanji. That’s the person with the glasses and pony tail. And then the sniffer guy is “Mee-Keh” “Za-kah-ree-ah-ss” or Mike Zacarias. Not “Mike”.hehe
Try to remember the subtitles are great for translations of intent but when it comes to names you have to listen for the characters pronunciation. Most often with names like Jean for instance people will see it spelled Jean in the subtitles and mispronounce it as “Jeen”. Even immediately after the character says verbatim that their name is pronounced “Jon”.
While taking notes try to listen for the character when they say the name and write that down as well.
(Luckily I don't hear Jeen as much
I assume it's people without much language (name? I dont mean learning languages, just hearing them) experience or smth, bc I think it's a common name if you're on the internet (or that the pronunciation is widely known)
It's just one of those things that feels common until someone doesn't get it
