Great job. Yes you should be very proud of your work. A professional caravan fixer looked at mine and said you cant do what we've done, you'll have to pull the hatch out and unscreww the blind screws etc. Cost of course way way more than $14 a hinge. You have been very helpful in resolving my same access hatch hinge failures. So far my 14 month old Crusader Van has 9 hinges that have or will shortly fail on three access hatches (note all my failing hinges have batch number 20210715. The "good" ones have a differant batch number). Of course the dealer's first response was its out of the 12 months warranty ... watch this space. As my whole door fell off I have to quickly fix it while I argue with the dealer/manufacturer. The breakage point for minr being on the hinge line, not near the securing screw as youve shown. Hence my belief this is a bad batch of hinges rather than some other force at play. I did modify the process a bit by trimming a little metal from each end of the pin to better facillitate insertion of the pin and grub screws. Thanks again saved me a lot time and money.
Thanks @mobsy4151 glad it has helped some people. Sorry to hear about your Crusader, that is really poor on their behalf, hope you can get it all sorted
This is a seriously good video. Love my Jayco but replacing the hatch hinge is a very, very, very frustrating. Terrible design fault. I would not have persisted with it if not for this video. Suggest this woman is a brain surgeon in her day job.
Sorry I didn’t get the part number but New Age only had 2 types of hinges for the tunnel boot, they are very different styles so this was the one that suited my doors
My dear, you are a champion. Thank you so much for posting the video, you have saved me a lot of heartache with the exact same problem.
You're welcome, glad it could help
Just a quick comment. Well done! You worked it out one step at a time. More power to you.
