    A fantastic demonstration of how to control your speed while carving at that pace. I used to be a ski instructor and cameraman, and as much as I appreciate the guys being filmed, the real skill is all in the hands of the cameraman. Lovely to watch and good work fellas.

      I wonder if this wasn't taken with a 360 camera, based on the low resolution, constantly-changing "zoom", and the incredibly precise framing even when the skiers move unexpectedly. Still, the fantastic result actually demonstrates the power of 360- cameras!

    • @danielndk
      @danielndk ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@kuanjuliu Nah, its just basic software stabilization. Those zooms and warps are because of the calibration. Although the camera man had to had a gimbal also, and even then there would be trembling.

    They make this look so damn easy. I'm sure it's the result of skiing every day for years. I used to ski pretty seriously, but realized I could never get to this level if I didn't live at the mountain and ski every day. Some people get off watching powder skiing or skiing through trees: this is what does it for me! So beautiful.

    I think many people who are have watched this video are missing the actual point of the video. Yes these gents did a great job over such a long distance. However as one viewer (Fish bowl) pointed out that they wisely wore knee braces to reduce tendon damage. Fyi - Ski-mojo is an augmented (spring loaded) knee brace so I think these folks were actually demonstrating how good their product actually works over such a long hall. The skier in yellow at the end of the video is also wearing them.

      They didn't give it so much effort anyway, piece of cake for a skilled skier.

    • @tainicon4639
      @tainicon4639 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@prazskabavoracka they are making very low aggression GS-SG turns on slalom skis. I didn’t want to be the guy pointing out they weren’t doing proper turns because everyone else in the comments was singing their praises haha
      Don’t get me wrong solid skiing… but very relaxed, with the occasional goofy form (often very stacked up and they both tend to have low hands which they asymmetrically drop back).
      Still impressive for 8 minutes of continuous skiing ahah
      I need some runs like that to build up my stamina

    • @MrLoesoe
      @MrLoesoe ปีที่แล้ว

      @@tainicon4639 yes true, quite low aggression indeed. They ski quite relaxed, pressure on outside ski even seems limited sometimes which I find strange, i need loads of pressure on my outside ski. Do you think more aggression is sometimes needed? Especially for slalom? Happy to learn from your insights

    • @tainicon4639
      @tainicon4639 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@MrLoesoe absolutely. If you watch World Cup video of slalom races you can see the amount of aggression they are using. It’s all about a rapid transition to the new edge with a high contact angle to the snow and then a movement of your body weight onto the front of your boot to flex the ski down. If you look at the shape of a slalom ski the narrowest portion of the ski won’t make contact with the snow unless the ski is flexed such that the angle relative to the snow and the arc of the ski pushes the underfoot region inline with each other (that is hard to explain with out a ski in my hand to show it haha). Basically quickly get the ski on edge and push into it like you are trying to break the ski in half. If you do it right the ski locks down into even the hardest surfaces and as soon as the turn finishes releases a good chuck of that energy back to you (feels like you just jumped on a trampoline). This energy is ideally redirected back across the hill to enable a rapid transition to the next down hill edge and assist in loading the ski. If you mess ip you launch in the air haha (a lot of World Cup video has this mistake as it’s easy to make in a race course if you get off balance).
      But also… that’s completely unnecessary if you aren’t racing haha.

It is incredible how fluid, effortless and easy this looks. But actually being able to ski with such elegance and control and freedom....I am finding it so very difficult to learn. Maybe my bar is too high judging by the comments of others saying this looks easy but should not be assumed to actually be easy. Sheesh.

      Best advice I ever got was to shorten my ski length after 30 plus years of slope absence due to knee and back injuries. K2 Blades were my weapon of choice. Not only will you progress at a much faster pace, but have all the more fun doing it without all the trials of tribulations of "proper length" skis until you're ready. Cool Runnings!

    • @prazskabavoracka
      @prazskabavoracka ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@sandflea23 That can truly help, I'd say get agile skis such as slalom ones, I see a lot of people having GS skis which makes no sense for them, but they must have it anyway...
      But with injuries, do not pick the top slalom ones, they are too hard for you, will not forgive a mistake and can hurt you again. Some slightly below top will forgive an will be nearly as good as the top ones, but not so hard on you.
      I also picked shorter ones for freeride due to having a bad knee... it still works.
      Just have a good time.

      No. This is the whole point of this video. They are promoting a product ,called ski mojo (it is the black harness seen on the legs of the instructors legs), which allows you to ski with less effort. Its like an exoskeleton for skiing and essentially assists you in the physical aspect of skiing. So the instructors really didnt put in much effort to complete the run since it was assisted by this exoskeleton.

    • @SkiMojoFrance

      The exoskeleton (www.ski-mojo.ski) usually decreases the muscular power from 30% on the quadriceps allowing longer runs like this but the hamstrings are working 10% more. Saying they did not put much effort is maybe a bit exaggerated. Those ski instructors are of course very well trained but the effect of this spring based mechanism is insane according to their feedback. Better edge grip, better control, better position etc.

    Awesome video... and sweet conditions. As an older telemark skier with bad knees, I can honestly say that without my Ski-Mojo, my days of dropping a knee on every turn would be long gone. I also occasionally use my alpine rig (training heels included) with the Ski-Mojo, and have felt like I could probably do a long non-stop run like that with no problems I would heartily recommend the apparatus to anyone who needs that little extra support to either get back on skis after knee injury, or are looking for an exciting (and comfortable) way to extend their days, and their season.
