Odd, you're revisiting themes from another author who repeats phrases and observations with only slight variations in his stories, Harry Turtledove. You also need to cut way down on the similes and metaphors. Reusing the disco ball one was completely cringe worthy.

The short story wasn't bad. A lot of repetition of the same point that didn't really advance the story or fill-out the narrative. The terrible AI "art" was frankly distracting though.
