Happy Christmas! Transforming 300+ year-old Oak Purlins into £5,000 of product.
Big thanks to everyone who helped the last video explode. I didn't expect to film making these but 500 takes quite a long time so plans changed!

It's great! My shed has been completed and it turned out nice looking and sturdy and it is way better than the sheds that many of my neighbors had put up. Of course, I'm pleased with the outcome and this Ryan's th-cam.com/users/postUgkxGZedDTcDfgD7fG_uU4esfx_EgxzlY2_1 Plans was extremely useful to me as a guide.

Instead of putting the sawdust into the compost, you can put it together with candle wax. Then you let the two components dry in an baking pan for example. Now you can cut or break it into small parts to fire up your oven. Cheers and Greetings from Germany. Merry Christmas.

I use egg cartons instead of a baking pan. Tear of a section at a time and they're ready to light.

There’s a few companies around me turning dust into briquettes but the cost is higher than “normal” fire wood. Is there any reason to choose briquettes over fire wood - or is it just cost?

Merry Christmas Carl! (and fellow subscribers!) My boyfriend and I have spent the last two years turning a condemned New England colonial into a period accurate but thoroughly modern apartment building, just the two of us and our beloved table saw. It's always nice to curl up with your videos and feel both less alone, as well as less obviously crazy.

Fantastic to see such wood being honored and 'upcycled' at 1:07 the fungi is fruiting and by the looks of the purple color it is 'silver leaf' which is known to attack deciduous fruit trees as well as some deciduous ornamental trees, so could see weathered oak also being in its firing line.

As a retired Brit living in the Var in a smaller and newer (1750) version of your lovely farm house I have admired and envied your skills in carrying out your renovations. Did I see an old Fergie behind your JCB in your last video? I have recently restored a 1950 version that had lain in a barn in a local vineyard for the last 15 years which gave me many happy hours of retirement occupation. I look forward to seeing what you get up to the future.

This video was interesting, didn’t know what you we’re making until the end. I’ve used a inexpensive K40 laser to do some similar jobs, I would think it could do a quicker batch than your setup. I mark 8 3” x 3” blocks in 5 minutes. The machine was around $400 USD and it’s held up remarkably well, I’ve probably engraved 1000 blocks this year. Enjoyed your video👍

Good project but I do worry about the way you use the table saw. Stand on the side and not behind it, especially when you don’t have the splitter behind the blade. Could cause some nasty kickbacks and don’t leave items on the saw when you’re cutting several things.

You and your dad do amazing work. It seems to me that one or both of you may have had some actual experience doing professional carpentry, otherwise your skills are better than most of the "professionals" I see doing this on a regular basis, and I'm a general contractor specializing in updating and restoring old buildings here in MA, USA. My oldest major project in Bristol, RI dates to 1690, also having done work on the oldest building in town, dated somewhere around 1645-1660. Love watching you rebuild this beautiful old farmhouse. With stuff like this you wonder if it was built on older foundations, as was common during this time. Often buildings were cobbled together from older forms. I love finding the evidence of previous incarnations within the buildings I get to save. Great job on this, and your cinematography and flow is also top notch, Happy holidays, and a great new year. PS my building partner is also a subscriber, and we found you independently.
