I’ve heard from a doctor that I trust, that it’s not cold and flu season…but a Vitamin D3 deficiency season due to staying inside more and not getting much sun. Decreased vitamin D3 equals lowered immune system and therefore you’re more susceptible to getting sick. Makes sense to me…and I also LOVE Cardio Miracle!!

@douglasnielson8250 listen to Dr. Berg on TH-cam and other Dr. They say 10000 is just maintaining..just being in the sun for 30 minutes will give you something like 50000 IU. You do want to take the K2 supplements with it because it can build calcium in your arteries without it.

It's not really an "either/or". Viruses are often killed by strong sunlight, which declines in winter, they transmit better between ppl sharing air in close proximity, which increases in winter, and lack of Vitamin D and the stress of being stuck indoors hurts your immune system. Whole bunch of stuff coming together.

I've been listening to some talks several times as well.
I loved Elder Bednar's talk. I always feel a bit like there is a deeper meaning to some things he says.
This morning, I watched a channel called Spiritual Survival. He seemed to agree. He said the Book of Mormon is less of a history book and more of a book of prophecy. I've heard the phrase a 1,000 times that it was written for our day, but this time, when he used the word prophecy in that context, for some reason, it hit me differently.
Then he quoted President Benson (who I love ❤️) and mentioned Heleman. He used the phrase "in a few short years" (paraphrasing) So this guy from that channel did a search of the phrase in Helamen, and four scriptures came up about our present and their past. I looked it up as I listened to him. It was really cool. The title he used was something about talking in code, but I don't necessarily think Bednar was talking in code. He was laying it all out. It's up to us to delve deeper and ponder things. Anyway, I mention it because I thought you might enjoy it if you hadn't already. Knowing you, you're way ahead of the game. 😂
    Much love ❤️

I get the sense there are members who don't understand this concept of Justice, Mercy, Faith and Works. It's not that hard. Our good works are a result of our desire to follow Christ. There is no contrary between justice and mercy, faith and works. It is very easy to understand. We just don't have to bend to protestants calling us blasphemers. Salvation (ie resurrection and immorality and the chance to meet Christ) are free - no works necessary - this salvation is the definition that protestants have - we agree with them. Eternal life - living with and like the Father - requires us to DESIRE, ACT and BECOME (also through the power and mercy of Christ's atonement - without Him all our works still would not add up to anything near Celestial) - BUT - we must ACT, it MUST be by our own free will and choice. We accept the full blessings of His merciful atonement BY our free will to act and follow him (through making and keeping his sacred covenants). We are not magically changed because Christ accomplished the atonement - we are majestically changed because we CHOOSE to follow Him and accept His gift with our DESIRE - through to - ACTIONS - through to - WHO WE BECOME (the who we become part is all a miracle by him through the sanctification of the Holy Spirit of Promise).

Loved it, Scott. You hit the nail on the head again. There's something wrong when a human puts another person on a pedestal as if that person is cut from a finer grade of cloth. Or talks down to others, as if THEY themselves are cut from a finer cloth. Either way, it's not a very healthy outlook, I don't think. Our culture has a way, it seems, of creating an atmosphere where both are pretty prevalent.

Interesting thoughts on “all we can do” Scott. I have never ever read it that way. To me it reads that whatever we can do in our lives comes to nought without the Atonement. It’s not an after condition; that the Atonement doesn’t count unless you do lots of good works! To be totally honest it is beyond my comprehension that anyone could read it that way. Actually that interpretation blew my mind. Wow! I truly stand all amazed!
On a lighter note I always use green chilli relish on my hotdogs and would dream of putting ketchup on them 😮.

Elder Uchtdorf gave a talk correcting this bad interpretation of "after all we can do." Its 19th century English for "that's all we can do." The same language is used when the Anti Nephi Lehites mention that repenting of there murders I forgot which chapter, also, I feel the same when they mention that in the temple, I hope people understand this principal of grace better in the church before going in the temple. Good insight! And I agree, a little criticism goes a long way, I think is important to highlight that we still uphold those called as prophets, while at the same time making space for our thoughts on whatever issue.

I was a convert to the church at the age of 14, over 60 years ago. For some reason, I never thought that scripture meant that the atonement was only effective AFTER all I could do. I always read it to mean that no matter how many good works we did,it was still only through God's grace that we are saved. Now I understand why protestant friends think that we are trying to earn our way into heaven through good works. That goes to show, it's all a matter of the way we understand what we read.

Loved your comments on Grace. Wendie and I are currently serving in the Texas Dallas East Mission office and I write an email to friends, and family. This past Sunday I actually wrote about grace and works in my email, after studying Moroni 8. I know you don't need any support in your comments, and your thoughts were crystal clear but I am going to post my email here as a second witness to you comments. Feel free to delete this if you don't feel it is appropriate.
Good Morning my Favorite Fellow Followers of Christ!
I have a lot on my mind this morning, I hope I can articulate it all, in a concise manner. This week I finished the Book of Moroni, in the book of Mormon. Chapter 8, was of particular interest. It turned my attention to Grace, then Works, then to the origins of modern day Christianity, and finally judgement.
Chapter 8 is known for Christ's teachings on the baptism of little children, and immersion, and how through the atonement and his grace, it is not needed until one achieves the age of accountability. I know most of you know this, but a quick read of chapter 8 would help understand my motivation for this writing. After studying Grace, which led me to Works, I now have a personal understanding and opinion on the topic, which I am going to share with you. I will not ask that you accept my understanding, but that you seek out one for yourself, as these concepts seem central to the great plan of happiness.
I believe Grace is how we are saved in God's Kingdom. Grace is, simply for my purposes, unmerited favor and love from God. To me, this is central to God's design. Many would say that it is through our works, but I would challenge that notion, and state that once we accept Christ, once we have applied the Atonement of Jesus Christ, once we have come unto him, accepted him, have been baptised through the proper authority, once we have become a new creature in Christ, that it is through Grace, and Grace alone that we are saved. Works, simply, are the outward manifestation of our being "saved", and that we can in no way, ever do sufficient to say that we have done enough to have earned a place in God's Kingdom. To this point, I suggest the following analogy, "we, mortals, can not give the Lord a slice of bread, that is not already his, and by where he will shower us with a whole loaf in return." Obviously this is not an original thought, but to this end, we are made of dust and will return to dust once our spirit leaves this body, and who's dust is it, God's dust.
I love the simplicity of the Book of Mormon and its teachings, especially Chapter 8 on Baptism. Now I am not suggesting that works are not important, but the over emphasis on works, seems to cloud our judgement. It's what can allow for pride to enter into our thoughts, or the judging of others, as to whether they are as "Good" as me, it's this comparison that can create the divisions, in our families, neighborhoods, wards, and the World. It's this notion that others are not doing what I am doing, rather than the simple understanding that the works, The Works, is the outward manifestation of one's commitment to Christ and God's plan. Instead of focusing on the WORKS, where we see a lack of, perhaps, we should be focusing on the conversion, and how we might be instruments in helping those around us become more converted to Christ.
God's Edict of Judge not lest ye be Judged, or with the judgement ye judge, will ye be judged. Wow, we are going to be judged how we have judged others, we truly will be our own judge as we stand before God, at the judgement bar, and be judged how we judged others. It will be a true judgement, not where one can continue a potential deceit of one's ownself, rather a truly righteous judgement. (OK, I can see I have some repenting to do here.) So to me, it is by and through the grace of God, that I will be saved, and I can know where I stand by the works I am doing. Am I going to church, partaking of the sacrament, repenting, studying the scripture, listening to conference, having meaningful discussions with God, (Prayer), listening for his direction, (personal revelation), and then following the whisperings of the Holy Ghost, and learning and living the Christlike attributes. Do I see Christ in my countenance? Salvation is personal! One's parents, spouse, children, extended family, friends, etc will not be standing there at the Judgement Bar of God, we alone will stand in judgement of our life, with Christ or his designee. Am I kneeling in prayer with my spouse, and we feasting on the words of Christ with my spouse, and I attending the temple with my spouse, if not, why not. I believe it goes back to pride, to adjusting what I want to do for what HE wants me to do. (I can see I have a lot of "work" to do and repenting to do) I don't want to appear to be Christlike, I want to BE Christlike. I hope you all do too.
Lastly, I leave with you to ponder the original Nicene Creed of 325 AD, The version of 381 AD was a great perversion of the truths contained in the original creed, it reads:
We believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of all things visible and invisible.
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, begotten of the Father, the only-begotten; that is, of the substance of the Father, God of God, Light of Light, very God of very God, begotten, not made, being of one substance with the Father; by whom all things were made, both in heaven and on earth; who for us men, and for our salvation, came down, and was incarnate, and was made man; he suffered, and the third day he rose again, ascended into heaven; from thence he shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
    And in the Holy Ghost.
But those who say: ‘There was a time when he was not;’ and ‘He was not before he was made;’ and ‘He was made out of nothing,’ or ‘He is of another substance’ or ‘essence,’ or ‘The Son of God is created,’ or ‘changeable,’ or ‘alterable’-they are condemned by the holy catholic and apostolic Church.
There are a lot of truths in there. It is vastly different from the creed of 381 AD. One can see, just as the people in the book of Mormon became degraded quickly, so did the truths in the original Nicene creed.
Have I told you all how much I love you all? I do. May all of our works this week be a witness of our conversion to Jesus Christ and God's plan.
    Elder Ted

I wanted to add to your past comments on the BOM settlements. If you have time to watch or read Tim Alberino's 20 year research, study and architectural documentaries from around the world, a much bigger picture of facts come into play with the ancient civilizations that built the megaliths , and who they were and what happened to them that paints a bigger picture of ancient glorious civilizations superior to our own modern world. It's so fascinating and removes the boundaries we've put around what God can and can't do and who can and can't access Him. I'm so glad I'm a convert who came to the church as an addition to what I'd already studied, researched and formed a belief I was on the right track. But there's so much more. Anyway with your knowledge and curiosity, I thought you'd appreciate his efforts as a strong knowledgeable Christian gather facts to prove once glorious civilizations on the face of this planet well before the flood and cataclysmic events that destroyed them.

Huh.. I dunno.. that's a good question. Myself? I suppose if we are "all one", an attack on one, is an attack on all.
That's why the other prophets talked about being less polarized.
Moroni Fastened himself, Girded himself upon a rod, a pole.... (there are 2) I dunno, maybe people need to "let go" of the different poles so they can become 1 again.
Maybe that's part of the gathering...
But that's just something I saw from when I was reading the BoM

There's a lot of texts that are missing, not just from the book of mormon. But from the old and new testament... the book of mormon mentions this, that someone erased the words of another, that they shouldn't have done so.
I suppose since that was done, they must need be written... do the works, or you cannot produce fruit.
Without works, the word dies, but we all know, the word can never die.
God loves His children so much, God provided a way, from the very beginning.

I think “after all we can do” refers to repentance. That really is all we can do cause we can’t take advantage of the atonement unless we do. That’s how I see it. Might be wrong.

Proving the contrary between mercy and justice, faith and works is a great topic to wrestle with.
It seems to me that 'through your faithfulness' is a prominent theme throughout the temple (think initiatory & endowment).
Also, D&C 130 comes to mind:
"20 There is a law, irrevocably decreed in heaven before the foundations of this world, upon which all blessings are predicated- 21 And when we obtain any blessing from God, it is by obedience to that law upon which it is predicated."
It seems to me that we clearly do not "earn" our own salvation. It is through Christ that salvation if offered, but we may reject the offer by not having faith, not repenting, and not obeying.
Also, it seems to me that any good works that have come out of me have only come because the Lord has changed my nature and removed, at least to some degree, my "disposition to do evil" and replaced it with a desire to do good. Good works are a natural result of the atonement of Christ.

    • @Jeanie-nv7lo
      @Jeanie-nv7lo 17 ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

Good works are a result of our desire to follow Christ. There is no contrary between justice and mercy, faith and works. It is very easy to understand. We just don't have to bend to protestants calling us blaspemers. Salvation (ie resurrection and immorality and the chance to meet Christ) are free - no works necessary. Eternal life - living with and like the Father - requires us to desire, act and become (also through the power and mercy of Christ's atonement - without Him we all our works still would not add up to anything near Celestial) - BUT - we must act, it MUST be by our own free will and choice. We accept the full blessings of His merciful atonement BY our free will to act and follow him. We are not magically changed because Christ accomplished the atonement - we are majestically changed because we CHOOSE to follow Him and accept His gift with our ACTIONS.

Side thought, for your natural medicine cabinet:
Chanca piedra is for kidney stones, milk thistle is for liver health, cranberry pills for urine infections, garlic oil and Oregon oil for immune system (fighting infections and colds)
    B12 energy booster
You can ask your doctor to test your vitamin and mineral levels. They just don't like too, it's expensive. You should, as part of your yearly medical. So you have the information, long term, it is more cost effective, as it indicates early warning signs.
You should avoid taking any medication unless you have the deficiency and require a boost.
Otherwise you are causing more work on your organs to clean your body of non required substances.
Like how most people don't actually need vitamin c, because it's added in many items. There's also where you live... the seasons, your dna, and medication can affect how your body works

I kinda lean towards what you are saying, but I do think there is some personal accountability we all need to take. Like you mentioned earlier, the Book of Mormon was written for our day, so I think that scripture in Nephi has some application and meaning for us now as well. I know we don't live the law of Moses, but we do have the principles and ordinances of the gospel.
