You are the only one who went straight to the point to measure properly a deck (10x12) for labor cost everyone else speaks to material cost and beating around the bush with a bunch a lot of unnecessary ......thanks, I'll hit the like button, more videos, please

Question How much is to remove about 60 12ft deck wood to remove old wood and install new . I would like to know price to see if I'm getting charged right ?
I own a roofing company but have existing customers asking for deck repairs, etc. Do you have any type of ballpark idea of how many hours it would take per man to remove and replace deck boards ? Existing are screwed in and boards are roughly 16 LF each. I bid a few jobs earlier this year but lost them - apparently I was higher but not interested in being the lowest price guy either. Any advice would be great. Thank you
Cost to repair deck boards is a sliding scale. We have a $500 minimum and that will get up to 60LF replaced. $8-10/ lineal foot after that. Though that price is fluctuating a bit right now due to material costs
So if there’s an elevated deck of 27x16, that’s 430sq but it’s also an addition, with railings of course but the old deck was smaller so if I were to do it for $60 per sq, that’d be $25,800 plus $1,000 for demo and it has 7 steps, so about $1,200 for the stairs? And since it’s an addition, it needed more foundation for the new addition for support and you said in a comment to add 15% more for an elevated deck so more or else, it would be about $30,000-31,000? Cz that sounds like a lot of money for a deck. Am I wrong here? If you could help, that’d be great, thank you!
Short answer is that I wouldn't price or quote labor only. I've had too many instances where we run into issues that I then have to submit a change order for time lost and, from my experience, this is always a hard conversation to have. As a result, we have stopped doing "labor only" type jobs
To clarify the reply above the video was made before the prices really took off from covid shortages. Prices were still close to pre-covid levels but shortages were common. Pricing didn't really start taking off until fall/winter last year
I'm trying to calculate the cost of a 30x30 deck, a tree fell on it and it would be demoed and new construction. Do you charge any variable for the lay of the deck? For example 45 degree cuts, 90-degree cust, or 135-degree cuts? Same question for picture framing the deck. Appreciate you.
Yes absolutely, depending on the material selected, changing the layout of the decking will change how the deck is framed. Laying the decking at a 45 may require the joists to be 12" on center and will be 16 on center maximum. As a result, changing the decking layout could affect the cost as much as 25%. The same goes for picture framing. Depending on the layout, picture framing could also dramatically increase the price. This is due to the required blocking and waterproofing material that needs to be applied to it
People pay those prices for labor or did lumber just sky rocket sense I last checked? My goodness I'm in the wrong business. Lol 😆 and a few others on here I'm sure. Fuck school let's just rip off some Doctors who are too scared to build some basic shit over a few weekends with a friend Lol.How this man can say those labor charges with a strait face is beyond me. I guess if they'll pay it right?🤔 Second thought! You go Gangster! Hats off

How much should a 217sq deck with treated wood cost roughly?
This deck will only be 5’4 above ground so not very high.
How would you price labor only if they are providing all materials. It will also include 28 poured concrete footers

Does your pricing described in your video include digging and pouring footers?
Not poured footers, here in NC those aren't required. The pricing discussed here is also pre-covid so a lot has changed since then
