Good looking out bud, if you notice at the beginning of the video I had one but I realize that the panel was too small for that one so i will have one on in a week.
You’re definitely in over your head, with the correct generator and a 50 amp input you most likely will run almost everything especially since it looks like you don’t have central air since there’s a ac unit in the window
The residence has central AC. The homeowner elected to add the window unit in case the power goes out they only have to run the window unit on the generator and not the entire house.
An inspection is always recommended for any electrical work done in your panel, which is an additional charge but what I would recommend is for you to get a local licensed electrician and that would take care of everything, if you do it as a diy please get it inspected.
Are you kidding me? 50 amps is A LOT! Remember that’s 50 amps on each leg of the panel. I have a 100 amp panel & when I have everything on in my house I draw 7 amps on each hot leg. I have 2-1/2 ton central air, 1700 sqft house. I can back feed my entire house with a 30 amp inlet with a 5500 watt genny. Your right you have to tell the customer what he can power up in his house with his genny. If he is all electric? He’ll have less options. Don’t forget the inter lock kit so he can’t accidentally have his generator running back feeding his house & the power company power pushing against his generator. There will be fire & smoke. Glad to catch your channel. Take care of that customer please.
Thank you so much for your positive energy. The house is all electric so I don’t recommend using that air on it. Also, I had the wrong interlock kit at the outset so we had to order one that fits the hundred amp panel and they’re all set.
@@adventurousdiyguy They can run the air if they shut everything else off & have a soft start kit on their condenser. They can set the A/C to cool off & on during the day in between running the fridge/freezer. It’s all about using their available power wisely. We would do the same here if we had a smaller generator? I purposely bought a house with propane dryer & stove. Oil heat & hot water on demand. The only items in my house that are 240 volt are my central air & baseboard heat in one room. It’s either one or the other that is on. The other is your customers might want to purchase an inverter generator? We have one & they are much quieter & their appliances will like it too. Many people don’t know this but a dirty generator is fine if your running lights & power tools. For home use they ruin sensitive electronics. Just about anything you buy today has a microprocessor in it. They need clean 60 cycle power. Without it they either might not turn on or will burn out in short order. I tell customers of mine if they go cheap on a generator they pay for it later when their appliances later burn up. Then they are waiting in line like the other fools that burned up their appliances. You could be a salesman for inverter generators in your market.
Hate to say it but idiots do this kind of hack generator set ups all the time. If you don’t utilize an interlock device there’s a good chance you will be sued when a lineman is shocked, killed or power is restored from the utility and the generator is destroyed and potentially burns the house down. If the home owner isn’t smart enough to do the work, they sure as 💩 aren’t smart enough to go through the generator start up sequence.
You need to add an interlock safety kit to prevent back feeding for safety and code.
Keep up the good work bro. 👏🏽🙌
An interlock is needed to prevent operation of the generator circuit breaker when utility circuit breaker (main breaker) is energized.
Great video bro! ⚡️
If you like these type of videos, you will have a jolly time trying to figure out if you need/have a floating neutral or bonded neutral generator.
yo boi is baaackkk!
Dont forget to add interlock kit to prevent backfeeding to the lineman and safety of the home owner 😊

Hi my cousin
Need mechanical interlock
He doesn't know what he is doing
Yes, in some localities you need one in order to pass inspection and a permit as well.

Best use a transfer switch
Hi can you let me know if I have solar panels and now I want to use generator when power outage I heard someone tell both need to isolate
Should have the breaker facing each so when one is on the next is off
That would depend on the interlock.
do you need a permit to install this in houston tx
