Moiz! How brilliant you are, you have no idea. Thanks for showing your concerns for your community. Hope your words become influential to the relevant stakeholders.
Why do people think the placards about food are small problem? She is a journalist, an educated citizen, does she not know how many women are killed over cold food in Pakistan and how many are physically abused for burning rotis. There have been enough articles of these cases. Khana khud garam karlo is a placard talking about a real issue women face
Very well it's a great conversation we are portraying Islam as we want but it's not like that ISLAM is a vast religion we should enhance our knowledge about it. Dr Moiz u r Great

I respect your views and what you are portraying the personality to be. But I just wana know, are you a transgender by birth? Or have you just make up yourself to be a transgender? If you have had been a transgender by birth then why it took you so long to come forward and clarify your sex at this stage of life? You are a man as per your physique, Dr and a muslim too, then why all this?
its more about how a person is mentally or how their identity is, a person's genitals alone can't really determine if they are going to be a male or female mentally and sometimes it takes a long time for a person to figure themselves out(some figure it out early and some late) for example: alot of people only figure out they are gay on their wedding night(and please keep in mind its not something they have control over, Allah made them this way and they have no choice but to accept it otherwise rejecting urself causes huge suffering)
I agree with a lot of what Dr. Moiz has to say, but the tendency to blame white people and colonialism for the problems of the subcontinent is just wrong and involves a ton of historical revisionism. It's just a narrative they've adopted lately that isn't supported by evidence and isn't plausible in general. Also, as a trans person who's been in Western countries and Pakistan, I have faced more transphobia in the latter. And as a person who used to be a lesbian, I have faced a lot more lesbophobia and homophobia in Pakistan than in any Western country, and finally as an AFAB person who lived as a woman for ~28 years, I have faced about a million times more misogyny in Pakistan than in any Western country. The only major negative thing (in terms of social problems) I've faced in Western countries is racism. In fact, it's the only major negative social thing that exists there IMO.
Islam isn't that conservative?? Islam is literally more conservative than Christianity. In fact Islam is more *political* than Christianity, which is why political Islam is more of a phenomenon historically and at present than political Christianity. Christianity also has left and progressive manifestations (e.g. liberation theology, Martin Luther King Jr., Christian slavery abolitionism, etc.), whereas Islam has only conservative and imperialist manifestations, at least as far as major social/political movements are concerned. The reason abortion restrictions are not big in Muslim-majority countries is because sanctity of life principles have never been part of Islamic theology. By contrast, Christianity became ethically concerned (including in ways that involved acceptance of false or overly absolutist ethical principles) fairly early on and in Christian philosophy both natural law theory and sanctity of life became expressed and accepted by many. Natural law theory (developed by Thomas Aquinas), along with Biblical homophobia, became the ideological basis/rationalization for sodomy laws in various European countries. Sanctity of life principles became the ideological basis/rationalization for restrictions on abortion, though they were also used for progressive causes such as opposing the death penalty. In Islamic cultures you also have homophobia because there is Quranic and Hadees-based homophobia, the former of which is based on the same Biblical story of Sodom and Gomorrah (this is also where you get the term 'sodomy' from), where the people of those cities are misleadingly called 'qaum-e-loot'. This is why there is convergence on this point between Islam and conservative Christianity. Islamic cultures, however, have only conservativism, whereas Christian culture has progressive manifestations too, since Christian theology has resources such as the compassionate example of Jesus Christ and the idea of humanity as made in God's image. Hence there being churches that are explicitly LGBT-inclusive, even with gay/lesbian/trans pastors, but no equivalent in Muslim cultures. All Muslim-majority countries are conservative, but not all Christian-majority countries are. In fact all progressive/social justice movements originate in Christian-majority countries. The claim that American is a ghatiya country as far as women's rights are concerned is just absurd. Abortion restrictions are due to a genuine moral problem because there's a dilemma between the value of human life and the value of bodily autonomy, neither of which is particularly emphasized in Islamic cultures. This is a genuine philosophical dilemma, which is why this topic is taught in secular philosophical contexts, and why non-Christians are sometimes anti-abortion too, e.g. the philosopher Don Marquis is an atheist anti-abortionist. The situation of women's rights as a whole in the USA is a million times better than in any Muslim country. Even in terms of abortion restrictions (only one minor measure of women's rights, and also connected to a moral dilemma as I mentioned above), those are not country-wide but depend upon the state. And the US is literally the country where the organized feminist movement originated, lol.
It's fashion to bash Western values but then struggle to become westernized. Women's rights, individual rights, LGBT rights, animal rights, civic duty, labor rights, Good samaritan law etc are associated with the French revolution. We, nonwhites, have had no clue of all the above rights. In our societies, God has all the rights.
So so much love and agreement as a western Pakistani. This is now a fashion is pakistan to blame the west. That’s the only point I disagree on with Moiz. He has a huge tendency of blaming the west and sugarcoating the east and Islamic history.
