      3 sets of 3 strafing runs, 2 eagle air strikes coming from the left and right at the same time, 2 clusters coming in from front and back, then a 500kg to top it off, all flying in formation followed by a pelican that follows the thrower for 30 seconds offering fire support.

      @@thedog5k The chaos more comes from the freeform spells you can make and friendly fire. It's a great time with friends (and still good solo, as you can cut loose without ((as much)) friendly fire)! There's a Magick (specific, awesome spells you can find that you can trigger automatically with a single key, but with a cool-down, or input manually with no cooldown) called Crash to Desktop that instantly deletes a _random_ entity with a cool glitch out effect. Even bosses aren't safe. Went through a level, warning my friend that was the only spell I was going to use. Went about as well as you'd expect. Think I still have a clip on my PC where I deleted the enemy that was about to kill him, then him, then myself immediately after, sending us back to the checkpoint.
      It's filled with all kinds of jokes and references and can frequently be picked up on sale for like 5 USD or something. I definitely suggest picking it up, no matter how you feel about current AH, as it's a great game.

      i play with no sound by default, the bombardment just creates frustration and that is bad for the game all around. i get over stimulated by all the sounds of shooting my own guns so I feel for anyone who does use sound.

      I liked it at first but it got tiresome after like 2 missions and that's even when it helped us out. 😅
      Had to run heavy Armour with explosion resistance and sheild generator.

    Eagle Storm feels much more like coherent military operation.
    Like it is one combined army.

    bruh I can't even lie, the orbital bombardment is fucking hystericl and honeslty lore accurate. The fact that the DSS doesn't care about any friendly fire is so Super Earth. I don't mind it at all tbh

      I'll be honest, it only killed me a few times. I rocked heavy armor and a shield backpack, and the bombardment demolished everything around me.
      Honestly, my problem with it is that since you have to prepare for friendly fire, it really restricts your loadout. In addition, the bombs going off all mission, every mission got to be a bit much, sonically speaking. Given we might be fighting under the orbital guns once a week, that's a lot of bombs to hear and a lot of gear to not use.
      Given the Eagle Storm was so much better, I figure the orbitals will be much better next time around. Hopefully less targeted at us, and showing up somewhat less frequently so we get a break. Or, at least, let us know where the bombs are hitting....
      Honestly, the most disappointing action is the blockade. Just a booster people normally take anyway? So we get one different booster from the guy who would have brought HPO? That's not as cool as either of the other actions.

    Eagle Storm is actually amazing. The Orbital Barrages should be changed to Orbital Laser or something like this. And it must target enemies or breaches, like the Eagle does.

      It's most likely just the Traitor barrage targetting code with the 380mm barrage spread with the range increased a bit. Which is definitely horrible, but extremely easy to implement.

      Or it's intentional. Lorewise, we hired rimworld farmers to man orbital cannons. They don't have an idea of things like trajectory, hitting moving targets, atmospheric entry, or air-to-surface ordinance. It takes entire groups of men with knowledge of triangulation and target acquisition to do such a thing in real life.

    There should at the very least be an indicator to players where the damn orbital strikes are gonna be touching down.
    Like how the meteor events on moon-biome planets have that purple light they cast onto the spot where they’re gonna touch down.

    My wishlist for the DSS:
    1: Ability to change vote for DSS location prior to jump, OR:
    2: Warning dialog saying “Are you sure? Your vote is final until after the DSS jumps.”
    3: Disconnect DSS ability funding from deployment. Once funded, have it show “ready”, and then a vote to deploy.
    4: Reduce cooldowns on abilities. Allow donations during cooldown.
    5: Increase donation caps.
    6: Add indicators where the DSS is firing or Eagles are running.
    7: Add a stratagem to allow helldivers to mark targets for DSS abilities.
    8: Better description as to what exactly each ability is doing on the strategic map. (Needs more info on strategic map in general.)

    It's so funny that the playerbase abandoned the Mastia gambit when we were set to win because of dev meddling. Now, there is no way to save the DSS.
    Edit: The Devs just made the decay rate 0.3% now. Win by default, best kind of win

    I love the bombardment. It adds to the cinematics and immersion. High Command is know to go overboard without care to the expendable divers. This is perfectly fitting in the lore IMO. Bombard the planet and throw some divers in to clean up. Then in a week they don't take responsibility, but instead blame something else (a miscalculation and that engineer is being sent to reeducation, etc.). I honestly love it and think people need to chill about the complaints here.

    The general expectation I and the people I talked to was:
    1) 1~2 Extra stratagems on that planet ( selectable or not )
    2) 1 extra booster ( selectable or not )
    3) Some effect to planet defense/liberation
    All 3 at the same time with some resource requirement.
    We got all of those in the worst possible way...
    P.s. : Much like Pirana games (mechwarrior online, mw5.. ) I had low expectations and am not overly disappointed, I have been trained to expect bad service on the first run, an apology and several weeks of the state till some incremental improvement... it is what it is....

    The DSS was a disappointment. This is what it should have been:
    Unlocks 3 new stratagems for the planet it’s on, a mini nuke, 720 barrage, and a more powerful orbital laser. We SHOULD be able to see it in the sky. The stratagems use should be team wide, so they aren’t too OP.
    The DSS should have been a player hub of sorts. Maybe 3-4 squads could be in there. It would be cool to see other divers going into missions.

    Why people are disappointed: long drawn out MOs causing players to inadvertently build up hype. The result was a random bombardment that functions as a lethal ‘planetary hazard’ at best and a menu for a resource sink.
    How to fix in the meantime: include additional incentives to play on the planet containing the DSS, such as an ammo buff of 10 to 20 percent to primary weapons, reduce strat cooldowns since it’s a super weapon, or include additional Strat slot or complimentary Strats. The planetary bombardment and eagle storm should have been unique DSS specific stratagems instead of ‘planetary hazards’.

    Day 1 absolutely left the most sour of tastes in maaaaaany mouths. And unfortunately, first impressions are VERY important. Even if they rework the barrage, a lot of damage has been done, that one may never be active again.

    I mainly like the Eagle support but weirdly it worked on AA emplacements as well which normally disables eagle strategems.

    I would like to see the different bonuses fire different stratagems for their types according to what enemies they’re trying to hit, but then the community can spend even more resources for a specific type to be used.
    For example, the current Eagle Storm can use the Strafe, Rocket Pods, default Airstrike, 500kg, Napalm or Cluster stratagems on the current mode, or you can enable a specific stratagem to be used for all Eagles (like how the Eagle Storm currently works).

    Yeah I use sound to listen for bot patrols and chargers running at me. With endless barrage I can't hear shit or focus at all.

    In my game with the orbital bombardment, one of the guys brought a walking barrage too, and it was very very fun on my ears...I got snuck up on by so many patrols because I just couldn't hear anything anymore.

    4 HellDivers on a mission, and hundreds of bots, and somehow the orbital bombardment hits the HellDivers more than the bots. The only way this is possible, is AH programmed them to drop around and on the HellDivers. My only question is, why?

    Itd be cool if they randomized the eagle storm, just imagine eagles constantly swooping, small explosion, big explosion, and Gatling fire just constantly , that’d be crazy cool. They can program it where the small explosion airstrikes only come within a certain distance so it doesn’t wipe you and then have the 500kgs further out

    The DSS would probably be best served as augmented logistics, doubling your available or providing extra mission or bonus stratagems; being able to call in two 380mm barrages at once for example. Later updates can enable it to provide stratagems that cant fit on the destroyer, such as holding the bomber that was leaked

    The strafing run gets shut done. And targets patrols that are near you. And they are able to actually accidentally destroy key objectives for you.
    The planetary bombardment is the definition of insanity

    The whole idea of Helldiver-side planetary modifiers is great. Later on both bots and bugs will get their respective ones for sure. So the galactic map will be like a proper board game, with campaigns on planets having much variety. Perhaps we'll have Eagles flying while bots occasionally drop hulks in random spots. Different themed "brigades" will be here and there, further modifying the experience. All in all, seeing those 3-7 day cooldowns on DSS gives me impression that there should be around 10 of them at the very least. Basically planet-sized stratagems with their respective cooldowns.

    I just wish the defensive/offensive options weren't tied to the bombardment/eagle storm
    like maybe the community wants an eagle storm while we're on a liberation campaign or getting the bonus booster while defending a planet and so on
    these kind of combinations would've been pretty great imo

    Orbital bombardment and eagle storm needs a visual cue for where it’s going to land like how the meteors light up the ground before impact. I also think we should get some more personal augmentations when battling under the DSS. DSS specific strats, the big 3 boosters should all be free, stuff like that. I wanna actually feel like I’m fighting with the home field advantage.

    Definitely agree with the sensory overload. I could only play a couple missions at a time and then I had an actual headache and my ears felt fatigued. I would take a break and it would go away so I would do a couple more missions and the same thing would happen. This really needs reworked asap.

    I loved the Planetary Bombardment. Shit blowing up everywhere, so much fun and chaos. In my experience, I would only die a couple times per mission (lvl 10) from the bombardment. But I exclusively used the Fortified Heavy Armor, and often without the Shield Pack.

    I would NOT be surprised if the Eagle Storm being unavailable initially was a consequence of the backlash to the 380mm saturation. I imagine it was supposed to be the actual Eagle airstrike, but was changed to the strafing run

    I honestly expected acces to some OP stratagems like the hellbomb drop, Carpet bombardment or railgun barrage. Also I'd love if we had a social hub on the DSS and access to some permanent upgrades. Just having the hellpod optimization booster 24/7 as a passive would be enough of a quality of life improvement for everyone.

    Even if the bombardment was implemented well, I still think AH should have added a unique stratagem to the DSS based on the fact this game is all about using stratagems. I just think the DSS is "neat" so far, but something that is "neat" shouldn't need a 1.5 month arc to get. DSS should have been released in liberty day to really get the democracy hype train going.
    Also, there should just be a passive buff that doesn't require donations whenever the DSS is on a planet. It could be something small like 20% stratagem cooldown reduction or make the Orbital Blockade always active.

    My way of fixing Bombardment if they aren't gonna make it a stratagem buff thing, make it so periodically (every 5 or so minutes) the bombardments start falling all over enemy hotspots such as bases/bug nests. Warning is given out 10 to 15 seconds before firing, and for stuff such as blitz and eradicate missions it'll be after every 2 minutes. With eradicate missions set hard coded designated areas where the 380's will drop depending on the map
    This way it'll reduce team killing and still be useful for missions.

    The DSS definitly needs more work. Egale storm works nicer. I think the rework bombardment was the walking barrage with only 1-2 salvos per enemy before it chooses another enemy then it be more friendly+further from the player.

    I play the game pretty casually with friends so we were still having fun in the absolute chaos, but yeah it was rough. Got a clip kicking around somewhere of me dying to a 380 shell, getting called back in, taking about ten steps and instantly eating shit to another 380. Greatest belly laugh we had that night, but I hope they make some substantial changes here LOL

    I actually like the idea of multiple orbital lasers raining down for support because they inherently go after objectives and enemies. Maybe even rework it to where the orbital lasers stop themselves once all the available units/buildings are gone to add to the idea that they are manually targeting units/objectives ro help you. It also provides that similar cinematic feel as the strafing runs.

    I am more like you I found the absurdity of the DSS funny but I agree with all the complaints, it should not have been that badly implemented.
    Mostly looking for the guild/clan stuff and the leaked big stratagems that probably comes with the clan system.
    Edit: As for the Orbital Bombardment I think it would be better and be more cinematic if it was more like the Eagle Strafes that are obviously targeted at enemies and it was a MIX of things based on enemy size. Large blips gets like a 3x Precision Strike salvo in its general area with a long-ish cooldown, then they should modify the Laser and swap it with the Gatling Barrage so its a targeted MOVING Gatling Barrage that fires a bit like the Eagle Strafes, just 3-4 second bursts then a couple of seconds cooldown, then it goes again etc etc.
    100% agree that the DSS should be a powerhouse and making things much easier but it needs to be visually appealing without being a constant sound filter.

    The bombardment is wild should go by grid as map is constructed in squares so seeing a square is under attack you avoid then it randomly switches to another square until all have been hit shuffles and startscrandomizing another square

    Since they are probably reworking the Orbital Bombardment, I wonder in what direction they’ll take it.
    If it adds a comical amount of salvos/projectiles to our deployed barrages that would be good but not everyone would notice since barrages aren’t as popular typically.
    I’d like to see it reworked to become a Super Walking Barrage. Mark the start and end points with colored smoke, and then it creeps from start to finish so players can see where they shouldn’t stand instead of playing the lottery.
    IDEALLY, they add a function that shows estimated danger zones of barrages or lethal stratagems in general on the map.

    Eagles wouldn’t spawn for me, orbitals killed my team, AH railroaded the MO, and this patch reintroduced tons of bugs.

    So it takes a full day to move the station, and each of the “bonuses” the station gives has a 1 week cooldown……
    Edit: From what I’m hearing, the strafing runs are good, BUT I WON’T KNOW FOR WHO KNOWS HOW LONG BECAUSE THEY’RE ON A WEEK COOLDOWN AND I’M AT WORK!

    we deffinatly should have had actual buffs and extra dss stratagems like a nuke every 5-10 minutes 30% extra ammo and extra damage on guns like pips said in his stream that and if we got a cooldown reduction on our attack stratagems like 25% or somthing helpful since we literally have a massive station we should have faster attacks

    I just played with the eagle storm active and its insanely good! the thing that makes it good/better than the bombardment is it hits everything Infront of you and your team thus hitting the enemies that are pushing your team. as to the bombardment I have heard of some class setups for it, which I was wanting to try but eagle store became active. As to how they fix it I'm unsure, they could make it shoot tighter clusters around the players but highly focus on heavily populated enemy locations (bot drops, medium-heavy bases).

    Honestly I like the orbital bombardment and Eagle strafing run stuff, but how I see they can make the orbital bombardment BETTER, is to make it where it has a yellow or blue circle that gets smaller the closer it is to hitting the ground, just like on moon or volcanic planets- where if there's volcanic rocks or asteroids coming down, that you can clearly see where they're going and get out of the radius before your team stands still to rest for a second without getting blown up.

    Orbital bombardment really disappointed a TON of divers and soured the 2mo we spent building the damn thing to just continually get killed by it and possibly lose the mission because of that crap. Eagle strike is OK but just with the bombardment was used first REALLY showed how little is was tested. They are really going to have to rework a lot of the station at this point because of how bad the release came out. DSS- dumb sample sacrificer...

    I actually like the eagle storm. I love seeing the strafes all over the place. The orbital is crazy bad though. We should just get a free 380 with maybe twice the length or bigger explosions or something.

    I found the barrage pretty atmospheric (I've only played 2/3 games so far so it hasn't gotten old yet) but we still need a proper superweapon. Maybe a Death Star-style superlaser which can delete an entire enemy base but takes 20-30s to charge up or for the DSS to get into position

    Firstly, for the cinematic part the DSS should be visible from the planet surface in orbit. Secondly, it should fire massive cannon-tower shots onto the planet surface, which explode like a Hellbomb and obliterate enemies. This can happen every so often so as to not become overwhelming, and the effect seems pretty strong. Obviously, it should not target anywhere near the players to avoid unnecessary TKs, but could soften fortified targets and distant patrols pretty well and would awesome to see a giant laser bolt impact a patrol heading your way.
