Jay Black was simply one of the best voices in Rock. These guys aren’t even in the same class.

This sort of sums up my thoughts…..The 3 original Americans here (Sandy, Late Howie and Marty) look and sound in great form though none were ever lead singers, they retain their nerdy, inimitable stage personas. Listening to the Jay replacement, (who has an excellent range) makes me think about how an Otis Williams , Duke Fakir or Henry Fambrough would feel if performing today with anything less than a Ruffin,Stubbs,Or a Bobby Smith style replacement lead singer on leads? That’s how I feel listening to this Jay on here. He never mastered the art of singing from the soul. Not knocking him, just not anything like a Jay Black.

Harmony of the backup i 3:34 singers is off and not tight at all.

The original rendition is apparently inimitable. These 2010 geezers bear no semblance to their form of yesteryear. Mere silhouettes of the singers they once were, In other words: they suck!
