Through action, a man becomes a hero. Through death, a hero becomes a legend. Through time, a legend becomes a myth. Through hearing a myth, a man takes action.

What I love about this comment section is how this music brings everyone together from all walks of life. All sharing their stories and experiences. Its beautiful
❤ much love to you from Florida Zain. It's so refreshing to see the comment section after we have been ( globally) so detached from each other. One thing that brings us All together is MUSIC . 😊
@Laura L. music is an experience and it's experiences we all share together that build bonds in todays world we're all so busy inflicting bad experiences onto each other that we forget we are essentially all the same.. we eat, sleep, bleed and feel. it's what the Internet was truly created for, ppl all over the world can share this experience (of this art) together
Sure...and beautifull soundtrack and movie...only the real version went difderent...the gladiotor trained the emporor who was put against fight to other gladiors but the emporor gave bold sword's who werent sharp to fight against him...his sister betraided him and so the gladiotor who trained him found out and killed him in his room with a not bold sword, his sister was banished and later murdered bye the new goverment, same as the gladiotor.... The classic story was more a drama then the movie version....only trust youre commanders they will fight and die with you...is what his father said The classic family who cannot be trusted....his sister costed him his life...and in the end here own
I think that period between 2000-2005 was so great for this kind of epic historic drama movies, like Gladiator, LOTR trilogy, The Patriot, Troy, Alexander, A Knight's Tale, Kingdom of Heaven, Master & Commander, Last Samurai, etc.
I completely agree. That specific period in the American cinematography was simply spectacular. An unbelievably number of remarkable period pieces were produced during that time.
I am from central Italy, all my family too. I remember going to Rome almost every weekend with my parents when I was a child, and I remember my father telling me about ancient Rome. He was so passionate about it. He clearly felt a deep connection with our ancestors. Now I am 24, I don't want to sound exaggerated, but I get emotional everytime I see something about ancient Rome. I feel a deep connection with my cultural ancestors too. I love studying and learning about them. And I feel really proud. So that's movie and its soundtrack are gold for me, it literally makes me cry. Saluti from Italy, the birthplace of the Empire. ❤️🇮🇹
My beautiful mum showed me what courage is..facing death every day ,fighting cancer .she died with dignity and honour..mum u are amazing and inspiring,a true warrior..rest in peace we miss u xxxx
Over three years ago I lost my beloved wife, friend, soulmate. My heart aches everyday. When I hear this music it brings tears to my eyes because I know she is waiting for me with open arms, only to fill my empty heart with her previous love that I so dearly miss. God give me the patience to wait because I will always feel broken until that day comes. In the meantime, music such as this gives me some peace and a sense of calm.
So sorry for you loss, terrible times, yes she waiting for you but you have a lot of living to do my friend. Time will heal but never forget the good times.
Be thankful you were lucky enough to actually find your soulmate, make your heart smile when you remember her and that crucial moment were you stopped and said hello and not just kept walking and never knowing what might have been.
OMG! I feel so sorry for your loss, pal. May your wife rest in paradise where she will be waiting for you. And you will see her again. But not yet...not yet.
He looks down at you right now with a smile on his face, proud of your bravery and waiting for you to come home but indeed not yet :) may God (whoever you believe in if you believe) bless you and your son
I've never seen this film, I've always found Russell Crowe to be the epitome of a douchebag, but I'm curious why everyone has the same comments "but not yet" and are dedicating some mediocre soundtrack music to dead ppl? Am I missing something?
My brother was addicted to this soundtrack since 2003. I remember exactly his reaction everytime we were listening together !. unfortunately he died in 2012 . I can not forget him .... i can not forget this soundtrack.
The time when movies taught us boys what it means to be a man. 20 years later I am sitting here with my 6 week old son listening to this incredible music from the movie that taught little boys to be good men.
Personally this film did not teach me what it meant to be a man, i was to young to understand, though after going through so much shit and agony, i started to think more for myself instead of blindly following people. Now i refuse to be chained up, i refuse to pretend to be someone else. I'd rather be alone then be with people around me who wouldn't stomach me because i wont act a certain way. If that is a aspect of what it means of being a man i think i am a step closer of understanding what it truly is.
I wholeheartedly agree with your comment. Just watched this movie for the first time at 27 yo and it was so refreshing compared to all the BS we get today. Anyone know any other movies along this line (i.e. movies that show "what it means to be a man")?
@Dawson Davis I see your point, but thats obviously not what I meant. And yet, I am not the one who insults other people just like that. Apart from that, I also hope that the world will eventually become a better place.
I saw Hans Zimmer in concert last night and he played this song and the actual lady who sang it for the movie back then performed it on stage. It was incredible
i suffer from severe anxiety n last few days been depresed n bit suicidal but listening to this has helped my mind be at peace n relaxed. this music is my therapy all those struggling we are together we will fight on and win ❤️
Why are you suicidal? You already get 100 years to live if you lucky then it will be dark till enternity just like the millions of millions people before us. Just live, eat and drink and f**k. Why should you end you live sooner? Be strong in mind and body and enjoy life.
I lost my dog a couple of years ago. He lived a long life but it was still very sad to see him for the last time as I left for school that day. I’m sure now he’s running free chasing whatever he wants, and he’s at peace, and I know I’ll see him again, but not yet. Rest In Peace Jack. I love you so much.
I lost my dear dog and my loving father in these 2 years. Wherever they are l hope they are together. Playing out there, where pain exists no more. Hope not far away on the future, we'll be together again.
I know exactly how you feel. I can see my Wyatt and Sam running together on the other side. I miss them both so much. The hole in my heart will always be there.
My dog name was Tomy. And still some punnish me for that. And he was chasing his new owner last time I saw. Street dogs bites him I and my bro saved him with rocks . So sad Tomy I couldnt look after u summer house garden . Coservative My father says no angels at home:( but Tomy protect a factory till die
In my opinion the most emotional part is the end...when black man bury the statues of the Maximus family in the Colosseum: "I ll see you again...but not yet...not yet."
One of the most beautiful soundtracks in the history of cinematography. It totally expresses the sadness of each character. Love everything about this movie.
Dedicated to my friend Rich Kemp who died last week from a 9/11 related illness. He was a hero that day and will always be a hero to me for all his hard work in making this world a better place… “Absent Friends”
My husband died in an accident this August 1. We watched this movie together. He was only 48. I love you and miss you so much, my love.. my youngest son is just 12..he misses his dad so-so much.. it’s heartbreaking for me watch him going through so much pain..
Such a beautiful movie, with a beautiful message, with a beautiful soundtrack... Really miss movies like this, it has so much meaning. Too bad all the films now days are about, sex, revenge, senless violence, and the wrong ideology of what a man should be. This film shows what a real man is, and when to spare a life, and when to take one.
Josiah West Totally agree with you about nowadays movies, Josiah. I miss the olden days too when movies were better. These days Hollywood only creates remakes of remakes of remakes. There seems to be no inspiration left... :(
My karate teacher sadly passed away recently and I listen to this and recount the memories of him in my mind and I smile and honour his teachings as he made me the man I am through hours of patience and guidance and I will honour him until the day I die rip sensei ♥
RIP PAPI. April 17th 2020, Coronavirus took the strongest and most successful human I would ever know. I listen to this when I hit those squats..I can hear my dad's voice.."dale mi hio"
To my mum who left me recently...one day hope to be with you again. Meanwhile hope you are in the place where good souls go as you were one of the best.
Probably the greatest piece of music in the modern era, this song and movie means so much to me. Nothing for me can compare to this masterpiece of art in both music and cinematography and will always truly be number one. It resonates with so many people and this is something to be cherished as we probably won't have anything so beautiful produced again due to time.
Yes brilliant music. Brilliant film. Brilliant acting. Whilst Russell Crowe was the star of the film, J,Phoenix was excellent. You really hated his character and he portrayed it excellently.
I was 10 yr old when I watched Gladiator with my Dad. I remember always repeating the part where the soundtrack plays in the movie. Still listening to it now in 2022 but without my hero. Miss you Dad ❤ #GreatestSoundtrackInTheHistoryOfMotionPictures
My thoughts are with you All. I lost my Dad, Mom, and Brother. Music such as this, releases our pent up emotions. Gospel music does the same. Go ahead and cry, cleanse, release it all. Then celebrate. They are all Resting in Peace.
I lost my grandmother when I was 10 years old and I miss her. Hearing this reminds me she is a better place in heaven and she is always with me in spirit.
Just watched the Gladiator and I must say this movie is so amazing that its still better than most of the big budget Hollywood movies , even until this day , and I shall never forget the emotions i went through while watching this movie . Hands Down one of the greatest Soundtracks I've ever felt . Gives me hope.
Canadiana O Movies have become social propaganda tools. Either that, or they're just regurgitating stories that have already been told to death. I've drifted away from movies completely, and have come closer to games - which occasionally tell great stories without the Hollywood-esque tropes. Let's just put it this way - movies no longer have directors like Kubrick of Lynch (or even a Spielberg/Scott of old).
Salah yeah i dont know what this movie had but, the fighting was great, everything felt very authentic and you felt the character, even the bad guys, maybe hollywood needs to go and watch its own old movies and learn a thing or 2.
I had a brother who died due complications from his bipolar disorder (that was his battle but he fought just like a gladiator)......when I listen to "Elysium" and "now we are free" I cannot help to think of him and how his death in a way as painful as it was for us, it freed us. 😖🤧😖💔😖. I have the hope that one day God will restore our lives in paradise and I shall look into his eyes and know he too is free.🤗
Thank you for these beautiful words. We had my brother's memorial service today, and like your brother, mine also was a gladiator with his challenge. Listened to this on the way to the funeral and now at home crying tears of love and joy. Thank you again for writing this.
The whole of Rome will carry him, a general who became a slave, a slave who defeated an emperor, there before Rome's eyes, a leader, a true great leader, had died before them, he could have made Rome wonderful, rid of it's corruption, he could have gone to war and still have his soldiers full support and loyalty, on that day, they lost a true emperor, a true protector of Rome, maybe he did need to go, maybe he did make a difference, but his legacy will last as long as Rome, Maximus Decimus Meridius, Protector of Rome.
i am suffering from depression for a year now and life is miserable at the moment and while listening to it i just closed my eyes and rimincised how good my childhood was and now i have years in my eyes,i will come back to this comment after exactly 5 years from now.
Dont give up brother. Never give up. Hope you feel better. May be silly what i gonna say now but life is hard as it is beautiful. Try to make your best in this journey. God bless you 🙏
Life is a funny old thing. Ups and downs. It is hard sometimes. but try to see the glass half full. At 62 I have had moments of despair. My wonderful wife and soulmate has been my salvation. I have been so lucky. Not rich, but who cares! Stay strong.
It's truly amazing how we can all speak different languages but music is the one language we all understand, I'm reading all the comments and honestly it's hard not to get emotional with this music, I pray for everyone who has lost their loved ones, we will see them all again, but not yet!
Lost my father a few years ago, I watched this movie with him a lot. Makes me cry every time I hear this song. I miss you Dad, the day will come and we will be together again
I agree. And the day he dies should become a celebration. A Memorial Day if you will. The music and life this man has brought to the Earth is unreal. His music makes me cry, makes me fall in love, makes me want to be like im. The day Hans Zimmer dies will be the day the world looses a part of itself. Its music, its love, and a part if everyone who has witnessed his music. I for one know, that I will throw a party and celebrate is life the day its over. The day his is over, is the same day another like im will be born. I hope when Heaven welcomes him, they play this song, and many of his other ones. He deserves a throne and a welcome that is Worth his talent. Sorry this is long, but I have grown up with his music and I respect the heck out what what you commented. ❤️💝 💕- Marina theWolf. Amen 🙏.
Hi lisa. I agree. The song did come from heaven. Its the song i wish to hear at my final goodbye. And i never say goodbye. It represents what i fear the most... Ive never done any type of reply or left a comment like this. But i saw what you said some time ago. And thought maybe theres some one out there who understands. Thank you. Emeric
@@bane1476 humanity is corrupt and evil. This song is pure and sincere. And its why it came from above. Its why every mother mournes thier loss. And now its raining. Take care. Emeric
What a nonsensical statement. Humanity is corrupt and evil. This song is pure and sincere. Yet it was a human being who composed this song. Your logic is faulty. So either humanity is not corrupt and evil, in which case it can produce songs like this, or it is, in which case it can't. Or possibly it could do this even if it were corrupt and evil. Mothers are free to mourn their losses, as are fathers (again, nothing to do with what I said). To say that this music comes from humanity is not to degrade it, but to make it infinitely more valuable, because it shows what humans are capable of, despite all their flaws and faults.
While overcoming addiction, i used to listen to songs like this and read some of the positive comments! It helped me tenfold! 8 years sober now n i still come back to this song as it gives me the uplifting feeling that we all need from time to time!
Literally this masterpiece has it all. Stellar acting, top notch writing, engaging characters, incredible directing, fantastic costume design, perfect art direction, brilliant cinematography, captivating visual effects, and a beautiful musical score!
Dad.... I know I was never the best son to you, and I know whenever you get mad at me, it was because you loved me, you died too soon, hope you're happy wherever you are now, RIP...
First time I saw Gladiator I was 11 or 12, my dad was watching it in the basement so I watched it with him. Around that time I also got Oblivion so I was just getting into fantasy. This movie and it’s soundtrack will forever remind me of my dad, and being a kid, wish I could go back to those days sometimes.
I don’t wanna grown old either I always just think of the fun times I had before the times rn back in preschool and kindergarten etc etc and I drop tears 😭

This is the magic of art.
Well said!
@Laura L. music is an experience and it's experiences we all share together that build bonds
in todays world we're all so busy inflicting bad experiences onto each other that we forget we are essentially all the same.. we eat, sleep, bleed and feel.
it's what the Internet was truly created for, ppl all over the world can share this experience (of this art) together

What we do in life echoes in eternity "wow"
Yes
Sure...and beautifull soundtrack and movie...only the real version went difderent...the gladiotor trained the emporor who was put against fight to other gladiors but the emporor gave bold sword's who werent sharp to fight against him...his sister betraided him and so the gladiotor who trained him found out and killed him in his room with a not bold sword, his sister was banished and later murdered bye the new goverment, same as the gladiotor....
The classic story was more a drama then the movie version....only trust youre commanders they will fight and die with you...is what his father said
The classic family who cannot be trusted....his sister costed him his life...and in the end here own
Lets don't forget one of the most significant messages from the movie that what we do in life echoes in eternity!

Let's see, up up away into eternity my bro !
I think that period between 2000-2005 was so great for this kind of epic historic drama movies, like Gladiator, LOTR trilogy, The Patriot, Troy, Alexander, A Knight's Tale, Kingdom of Heaven, Master & Commander, Last Samurai, etc.
All the movies you mentioned men cried watching.
True I wish there were more epic movies like them
I completely agree.

The time when movies taught us boys what it means to be a man.
20 years later I am sitting here with my 6 week old son listening to this incredible music from the movie that taught little boys to be good men.
Your son is lucky to have father like you to show what means to be man
Maybe u were already that kind of man , just needed a little reminder and guidance, I feel the same
Personally this film did not teach me what it meant to be a man, i was to young to understand, though after going through so much shit and agony, i started to think more for myself instead of blindly following people.

Hands Down one of the greatest Soundtracks I've ever felt . Gives me hope.
Dude this damn soundtrack made me cry, only time I've cried in a damn movie, so damn good! that end! why can't we get movies like this anymore :(
Yeah. This has to be the last "great" movie I've personally seen. A lot of movies that came after were good/great, but not as good as this one.
+Salah care to elaborate? A movie is good depending to whose watching.
Salah yeah i dont know what this movie had but, the fighting was great, everything felt very authentic and you felt the character, even the bad guys, maybe hollywood needs to go and watch its own old movies and learn a thing or 2.
made u cry because of Lisa Gerrard and Mr Zimmer. It draws it out.....that's why we listen over n over n over.

Yeah i cried😭😭
The bit when his friend was in the middle of the colosseum alone and says "I will see you again, but not yet... not yet"
brb bawling my eyes out
That always kills me. Every. Single. Time.
💕
Thank you for these beautiful words. We had my brother's memorial service today, and like your brother, mine also was a gladiator with his challenge. Listened to this on the way to the funeral and now at home crying tears of love and joy. Thank you again for writing this.
My thoughts and prayers to you and your family
Your brother must be at a beautiful place.
❤
"Who will help me carry him?"
me* jumps toward the theater screen
😭😭❤🙌🙌
The whole of Rome will carry him, a general who became a slave, a slave who defeated an emperor, there before Rome's eyes, a leader, a true great leader, had died before them, he could have made Rome wonderful, rid of it's corruption, he could have gone to war and still have his soldiers full support and loyalty, on that day, they lost a true emperor, a true protector of Rome, maybe he did need to go, maybe he did make a difference, but his legacy will last as long as Rome, Maximus Decimus Meridius, Protector of Rome.

Bin auch hier ❤️🙋🏻♀️Futter für die Seele . Ohne Musik wäre die Menschheit in einer tiefen Depression.
Most touching comment bro..
