Thank you for this analysis! This band is the whole package, the tunes and lyrics, the musical craftmanship, the performances, the visuals, everything is so well done, enthusiastic and joyful, and they have a wholesome vibe of true friendship which I feel with lot of young bands. Amazing debut album, and they also made some fantastic cover versions of fheir favourite artists like Kate Bush, Blondie, Sparks ...
Beth, you absolutely love the contrast in the vocalist’s performance, going from delicate to gritty. Your analysis makes the listener appreciate the song even more.
Great reaction and analysis! I'm so glad that I could introduce you to TLDP's music at the Patron Party a few months ago. They're easily my new favorite band and as I said then, I really do think that they could be the next Queen. IMO they're the greatest thing to happen to popular music in a long time. Great musicianship, great songs with, in most cases, very pointed lyrics and they're brilliant performers. They really do have it all ... aside from a drummer. lol
There is a radio friendly version of this song, often used for TV performances. Sinner and My Lady of Mercy are my favourites but the whole album is top drawer. They also do a great cover of This Town Ain't Big Enough For The Both Of Us and Call Me.
Simpático review Beth - I like that you don't lose too much of the flow of while making observations. For me Prelude to Ecstasy is the best album since I bought Bowie's Hunky Dory in 1971. Really! I've enjoyed a host of individual songs since but not entire albums. The crazy thing is, like here, they're even better live. I get your redefining feminine power title - I've seen many interpreting in the old way - but as you mention in the video it's about naturalness - which is why I figure it's so infectious across all age groups, genders and non-binaries. It's an all inclusive "expression of love without embarrassment or shame or fear," That's the real power of it. Abigail talking to Radio Primavera Sound May 2024: And I remember when I wrote "I will f*ck you", I was just like 'yeah, true - that's what's gonna happen mate!' (laughter). And I didn't think, yes, this is kind of an important political female statement, which I think is in itself kind of a good thing because it's second nature, you know, to feel like you have that agency and that power. And I hope that's how women feel when they hear it, that it's not weird. It can be that natural. You don't have to be passive or being assertive or even just confident in your sexuality. It doesn't have to be a huge mission. It can just be something that sits naturally in yourself."
Saw them at 'The Caves' in Edinburgh in February doing an acoustic set and last weekend at the O2 Academy in Glasgow. They are the real deal, absolutely fantastic band
Your video came to me today, and I'm completely in love with you. With the way you make your videos. I'm here watching several of them, and getting emotional along with you with the songs. Congratulations on your work!
Slight correction it’s Emily, the lead guitarist who plays the flute, not Lizzie. She also plays the mandolin and is basically a tiny reincarnation of Jimmy Page.
Love this group/their sound. Lyrics are certainly not discreet but after rap/other genres..guess we're used to the rawness of point made. (Sorry, no pun intended). Bright, sharp music...lovely voices. ❤it
There are a lot of all or mostly female bands now, although not equal numbers but, there has definitely been a surge over the last 10-15 years. few are this polished but bands like: Band Maid, Gacharic Spin, Nemophyla, LoveBites, BlackPink, Honeyblood, ExHex, Dum Dum Girls, Triple Nipple, Otoboke Beaver, Die Spitz seem to be doing OK. Definitely not a definitive list, just a few that everyone probably knows but hadn't thought about because its not like its important... Alto / Contralto who cares?
@@LunarCosmic Nice but not a girl band. There have always been great female singers and front women. For voice alone I'm a big, Chelsea Wolfe, Zola Jesus, Haley Fohr fan

Liking the extra info you're putting on the screen. The explanation of "head voice".
YESSSSSSSSS. I’ve been dying for you to analyze TLDP. Please do their Like A Version cover of Blondie’s Call Me

It's a terrific album.
I must admit I only heard of this band when they played Glastonbury this year, but I like their sound a lot. Thanks for another great reaction.

Bravo me gustó el estilo de la cantante al igual que su estilo de vestir escocés señorita Beth 🌹👏👏🍀🍀
nice to see you include agnes obel in your ethereal vocalist examples - can we get more last dinner party reactions & maybe some agnes obel too?
Fantastic live band too. They were great at Coachella
Live performances of the song "The Feminine Urge" are worth a watch too

NAH NAH NAH! IT's TIME FOR "LINKIN PARK - HEAVY IS THE CROWN REACTION" before it's too late. DON'T GIVEN UP 🫡
Great live act
You should react to the live version of By Your Side that is on their TH-cam channel. Is beautiful!
Song with similarish attitude: th-cam.com/video/WquVPcr7U4U/w-d-xo.html Moloko - Pure Pleasure Seeker

Love Dum Dum Girls, too bad they’re no longer together.
@@Kevvinm Lets hope they do an Oasis, I'm not at all certain but they're young enough to all be active.
try Wolf Alice 👍
