I was made to pay £10 for an app to help me recover the file but to no avail not until I stumbled upon this video on youtube. The first method worked and help to recover my lost assignment, saving me from sleepless days and hours lost writing a new assignment. Thanks once more

Wow! After 30 minutes of unsuccessful attempts this video guided me to success. It was the method shown around 1:20 - using the Mac's Finder. I had no idea! 2 hours worth of nonprofit work saved! 🙏🏾 I clicked subscribe with a quickness.

I had written a bit of my end-of-term essay and then my MacBook started acting up, and for so reason, it asked to restart and I did just that but I had saved my document in space probably when it came back on, I could not find my work. I jumped straight to youtube and searched because I didn't want to lose all the time and knowledge coming up with the half essay and then I watched your video. I used the utilities method because the first ones could not help. I finally got my work, thank you so mucccchhhh
When you close a Word document without saving changes, Word immediately deletes the corresponding AutoRecovery file, and you're pretty much screwed if that's not what you wanted to do. I did exactly that, and lost a couple hour's worth of work that I had actually wanted to save. (I hit "close", changed my mind about closing the file, and accidentally hit "Don't Save" instead of "Cancel.") It turns out that if you have Time Machine active, there's a chance that it captured that AutoRecovery file before Word deleted it. Go to the autosave destination folder, per the instructions in the video, then enter Time Machine and see if you got lucky.

So I woke up the next day and both file document icons have changed to the default icon which is the word document default one. I go into it and *everything* is gone. I spent so long on those reports and everything I have written has gone. The files are still there and I did save it since I remember saving it. Any help?

Hi there, thank you for your question! If the file was not saved and autosave was turned off, then it is unlikely that the program will be able to recover the file. Look for any backup files that may have been created by the program. Check the folder where the file was originally saved. Sometimes, the file may still be there even if it was not saved.

I had to retype it from memory as I shed tears of frustration. Believe in yourself, the progress you had made was only possible because you’re capable and can exceed your own expectations. ugh option 1 took me to a completely different thing, and my tmp folder was empty! The file somehow closed like 30 min and im screwed :(
