    Hey Jeremy, I'm looking at a Scorpio LV, mostly for day touring on the Great Lakes, some 3-4 night camping, and surfing on Lake Ontario in the fall. But I'm borderline-sized at 6" 170lbs and in winter size 13 bootie. Do you think LV is a good fit,or should I go with MV? Tia

      I think the LV will work. Especially if you want to surf. You'll have more control

      Thank you! As much as I would love that, I am in the used market right now until one day I build up the savings.

    Question, I have been kayaking since the late 90's but never sea kayaking always rec and sit on top fishing. I am looking at getting the Scorpio for a while now and think I'm actually going to get one this time. I am 6foot 6inches, 240lbs and wear a size 13, what do you think would be better for me the HV or the MV? I can't find a good discussion on which to get and there is no local shops that carry them to try out both.

      You need the HV if you plan on taking any gear at all. The weights on the website are the boats capacity essentially. The HV will also give you the foot room you need.

      You need the HV for both the displacement and the leg and foot room.

      @@Outdoorsnb awesome, thats the one I've been leaning towards. I am guessing the green has been discontinued? Also thoughts on the skudder system vs just a skeg?

    • @Outdoorsnb
      @Outdoorsnb  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ninjazxd I prefer straight skeg but that is because of Paddle Canada training. It would honestly depend on what you are used to with your past recreational boats and if you plan on taking BCU, BC, ACA or PC courses (depends where you are). If you were planning on courses I would suggest skeg.

      @@Outdoorsnb Thank you for the knowledge, I live in north Georgia so mostly lake paddling and trips to the Gulf of Mexico and the Carolinas for the Atlantic. Fishing kayaks in the past I had an old town predator 13 that I put a rudder on, it didn't really need it but was used for a sail that I had. Don't have the sail and really don't plan on using one. The other kayaks that had them were pedal driven.

      The video is 4 years old. They now only come in Sunbeam (Yellow), Lava (orange) and Turquoise. I know, i had the green when I owned a Scorp. It was my favorite colour too.
