I stayed in an abusive marriage for years, could not find the strength to walk out but I finally did

  • When Carol got into her first marriage, she ignored all the red flags from the word go. She knew she had no business being with that man but the fear of, “what will people say” was so strong that she opted to remain in that marriage for years.,
However, after years of suffering, she left that marriage, started doing inner work, attended therapy and got to know herself more.
Then one day, love presented itself again, but this time she was ready, aware and healed. She said a big yes, and the rest is history

I shed a tear when Charles said "...I want to apologize for the Trauma and the pain you've been through. Even though it wasn't done by me, I think it's appropriate for someone to say sorry...". This is truly healing.

I lost everything being in a mental abusive marriage for 43 years and I lost everything during the marriage. It
effected my life and my children. I have found an Amazing Loving Nigerian man now for 6 years. We have met challenges because I am African American Black strong woman. I always asked God to send me a Godly man who will love me and be my faithful Hubby. We put God first in everything we do. God’s Grace and mercy has been the anchor for us.🙏🏾🇺🇸

Everything was like she was talking about me. Even though i don't have a ring on my finger yet,im hoping for the best with the person we trying at the moment. May i have an happy ending like Carol and i tap that in Jesus name.

Thank you so much Lynn for bringing Carol to the show! Her story resonates with so many women ( and men), myself included. We need to share our stories and give each other hope. Leaving a failed marriage does not mean you are a failure, it is the marriage that has failed, a distinct entity from you as an individual.
I believe marriages fail because we marry for the wrong reasons e.g. he paid my university fees it means he loves me. Narcissists do that so they can control you. Desperation makes young girls rush into marriage because any act of perceived kindness is seen as love.
For those who can afford it, i challenge the women on this platform to identify just one girl to sponsor through school, related or not. That act of genuine kindness will help one girl to have an opportunity to marry when she is ready, not because she needs financial assistance.

You have encouraged many ladies going thru toxic relationships and those yet to get married to take note of the red flags....thank you for giving Lynn her flowers while she is still alive...🎉🎉she has really healed many lifes. Life lessons learnt:-
-everyone has greatness inside of you.
-you are not what happens to you.
    - take time to heal...healed people heal others, hurt people hurt others.
Lynn keep up the good work and stretch your tent.

There is just so much of us ladies who would or occassionally fall into this trap, " he's been so nice to me, he has sacrificed so much for me" , and then he makes an advancement and truthfully you may not want to consent but the thought of how much he has done blah blah .... you fall in. Yes as she is saying learning to affirm your No is something that every lady can learn and be unapologetic about it. Personal dignity for self matters and doing it for the other is selfish when you are hurting 😢.

@Lynn you should organize an online meetup for singles men and women who ready for marriage, who have gone through self work and healing.

Victims of abuse stay in abusive relationships because of the emotional damage that's inflicted through emotional & at times physical abuse - it's nothing to do with cowardice. When you are not in the right state of mind it's very difficult to make rational decisions. It's important to empathize with victims & survivors of any form of abuse.
