    We need a good RC car pistol style controller. Thumbs are just not good enough for steering - at least mine aren't.
    I built a prototype RC style controller in lego with hall sensors and an Arduino microcontroller that is already so much better than a gamepad for sim racing.
    Need to add separate brake and accelerator triggers and easy access shifter paddles/buttons and it should be near perfect.

      Good idea. I'd be curious to the implementation into racing games though. Would you just use "normal" wheel settings then? - Marvin

    • @JoeGaffey
      @JoeGaffey ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@OverTake_gg Yes, normal wheel settings. I tested my contraption on AC with no controller afforances. Drove beautifully. Couldn't manage it at all with a regular gamepad.

      I was thinking the same thing. There were a couple of these controllers made for the Original PlayStation and N64 back in the day. A modern one would be amazing

    • @JoeGaffey
      @JoeGaffey ปีที่แล้ว

      @@elbowsout6301 Exactly!
      Those old versions were typically digital inputs.
      We can get so much more fine grained control now with hall sensors.
      A load cell based brake lever could even be incorporated cost effectively I reckon.

    This was kinda a thing in the 2000s i have still a serial port controller with 6 face buttons , shoulder triggers and a dpad with a wheel around the dpad with the same purpose. Can't remember if it had a joystick but yeah not that new , although i really wanted to see this done properly. I guess we're living that moment.

    • @OverTake_gg
      @OverTake_gg  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah youre right about that. I read about the previous itterations of hardware like this. Was my first time using something like that though. But nice insight thank you! - Marvin

    • @JoeGaffey
      @JoeGaffey ปีที่แล้ว

      @@OverTake_gg The old ones tended to have severe hardware limitations - mostly digital inputs. We could do so much more now with modern hall sensors, load cells etc but the design needs to step away from the gamepad form factor.

    That controller looks pretty nice. It would make forza more playable. I'm going to get one once my power a controller breaks.

  • @ThislsYusuf

    Idk, a gyroscope module would have made more sense? So you use the controller as a steering wheel more naturally.

      Definitely a preference thing. I am righthanded as well and found it just more comfortable on the left. But good advice - Marvin

    I tried using the wheel for the accel/decel if mapped to the right stick and it stays mapped to both - I feel like they overlooked the fact that a acceleration module would have been a nice option too its an easy fix if they release another module but for accel/decel - also the spring tension is close but just a little to much and better raised grips on the wheel would prevent it slipping - its pretty good.

    Cool, is this significantly better than the DualSense (regular version) which is known to have the best gyros for steering and is it also significantly better than the gyros of the Vader 3 Pro?
    Thank you. God bless you. Rev. 21:4

    Do the removable sticks and Dpad feel loose at all while placed in the controller? Even a little but would kill me. What about over time, do they loosen?
    Has anyone in CHAT used one of these?

    I think if the wheel was centered and bigger and allowed the user to use two thumbs, then that would give much more precision and feel more natural.

    Forza is already great with a controller, but I'd love this for the PS5 for GT7. Not that GT7 is the worst with a controller, but the inputs are not smoothed over nearly as well as they are in the Forza games.

    • @OverTake_gg
      @OverTake_gg  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I 100% agree. Have played GT7 with Gamepad a lot and if there was a precise way to input with controller I'm sure it would be huge. But would also need to be done correctly then. Was very impressed with the gamepad feeling of Forza however. - Marvin

    ich würde das rad wirklich mal gerne ausprobieren weil es sehr interessant klingt. mein lieblingsgere sind racing games, deshalb würde ich wirklich gerne wissen, ob es sich damit besser steuern lässt. aus der entfernung würde ich sagen, dass die zentrierung wichtig ist weil man sich ja sonst einen wolf kurbelt jedesmal. übrigens, man kann auch den standart controller kaufen und mit dem wheel aufrüsten, der kostet dann weniger weil das wheel modul nur 30 euro kostet.
