First car i ever had was a 1.6 L Capri. I went on to own a 3.0 and finally a 2.8 injection. Loved it , and wished I'd kept it , can't believe what they go for now.
Great video, I had a Caspian Blue 2.8, A816HSM, I loved it! Unfortunately the boot was too small for the pram when my daughter was born. I replaced it with a MG Montego, which was a big mistake!
We’re still hanging in their with the owner to sell, if you message us with what you would be willing to pay for it, we can always make an offer for you. Best regards V.
That’s awesome. It has the full RS interior. We are still working with the owner. We have rejuvenated his passion for the car, so he’s currently organising all parts to sell to us or do the work
Nice Capri 2.8i definitely worth saving. But if you are going to take the project on good luck finding the parts for these, you might as well restore a Ferrari lol. Luckily I know the right people if you're stuck for bits or I might have what you're looking for. The answer to your friend is, those aren't the correct wheels they're off a 2.8i special 1984 onwards. It should have pepperpot alloys on an A reg 2.8i with shark grey cloth Recaro seats. Also it's got the wrong injection stripes on it, they're the ones off the early 2.8i 4 speed models. Also Black was a special order colour and the 2.8i came out in 1981 to replace the 3.0 range, hope this helps. 👍
Most likely wrong wheels, they were from the Injection Special. They were a dealer option & lots of people fitted them as they are the same size & offset. The stripes are the old style which only came with 4 speed gearbox cars which had the cloth check trim. That one is most likely one of the interim cars which had the 5 speed box, pulka dot seats & pepper pot alloys. Those cars also had the later style of stripes with the turn down either side of the injection text. Not much changed mechanically over the years, it was mainly trim & colours. Main change was the 5 speed in '83 & the Special which had an LSD, half leather & the 7 spokes. The 280 was the same car other than the colour, stripes, full leather & 15" 7 spokes. They did know how to rot! I wouldn't necessarily agree with the banger racing for V6 Capris either, the V6's always retained some value even in their lowest ebb as they were worth money in parts alone, the rough 4 cylinder cars were pretty much give away at one point. The mk1/2 Granny V6 was the darling of the banger racers!
Yes you should bring it back to the garage with you, adding, yes you should bring it back to life again ..please. What a rare and lovely find, it's a superb worthwhile project, waiting, nay, crying out for someone to take it on! (That;s so very, 'A' typical rust, it's exactly where my Mk 1, 1.6 XLR rotted out, killing it.) Shane. :-)
Ian Galbraith we are getting there with the owner, but we’ve just done too good of a job telling him how good this car will be when done, he’s now tempted to do it himself. One way or another, this car will live on, but with us 😉
Love capri's, had a mark 2 and mark 3 back in the 80s. Fords and rust were like salt and pepper unfortunately 🤨 back in the day. That one looks like it's gone really bad , nice low miles though on the engine, and good interior , so maybe worth a shot .Like ya say ,may be some money to be made .
I had and leront to drive in a ford capri it was a 1.6 lazer but we put a 3ltr in her when I got my license in 96 my parents said it was far to quick to have so I ended up with a 1.3 ford escort and love of my fords still lives on to this day. I have a ford focus rs rep
Hi Simon, the owner is not willing to sell at the price we have offered. In our opinion the car requires a full nut and bolt resto. We are however still hanging in there.
@@simonloveless8924 he said he will restore it himself, but we’re not sure this will happen, if we bought it we would only want to resell it to someone who can appreciate it and go on to restore it to its former glory.
She's worth saving I know body's not to bad floor plate's can be bought of the shelf I know Capri's in side out I have had 6 of them from mk1s upwards ex ford engineer wish I was younger I would restore her in my sleep breaks my heart to see Capri's been left to rot they were in my opinion the most beautiful car ever made by ford today's car's are no style no soul crap boxes.
It needs brand new floors sills engine needs coming and replacing all the old parts on it and put in brand new parts plus brand new brake lines too restoring it sell it at car auctions you may get a lot of money for it.
Yeah it is worth it but it all depends how much it's going to cost to buy that in that state would only be about two grand maybe less maybe about 1500 quid needs a whole complete floor what are you doing that you Mazell take the engine out and service the engine give👍
Ian Wiggins we are in discussions about next stages, a lot of research also into the parts we need. Exciting project but in the meantime, we have some old school motors in this week which we are filming,
There is one other idea for you is when you get the car its worth having it sandblasted and cleaned bring the car back stripped clean to prestige metal. There is sandblasters out there could do it for you but it depends how much it would cost you. It's worth checking it out.
Arron Smith brilliant thank you, we are still trying, we have done too good of a job with the owner on how cool this car will be, he’s still not sure if he wants to let it go. Hopefully at least we can help him get it on the road.
If the owner of this Ford Capri wants to restore himself fine leave him to it and just walk away you have tryed all your very best. So what can you do now then?
@@simonloveless8924 we believe in time it will become available as the owner is an older fella and won’t have the time to do it, hopefully we’ll get the call, we also keep in regularly contact.
It's not worth it surely Guess its supplied with the Shark Grey interior Wheels are off a later Special.Wouldnt bother front wings will cost you a fortune Sorry guys.
The Capri is making phenomenal money. Mine was built in may of 1983 and I have had her for 32 years now. And she is my baby.
First car i ever had was a 1.6 L Capri. I went on to own a 3.0 and finally a 2.8 injection. Loved it , and wished I'd kept it , can't believe what they go for now.
Capri fans out there are saying why wouldnt you restore it. Have to agree with them. It will take a while but it will be worth it.
We agree, the owner is still deciding after our passion renewed his love for the car
Love it. Still regret selling my 2.8i special way back in the early 00's. Guy I sold it too wrapped it round a lampost.
Such an icon, we are still hoping the owning will sell

I see some of the Ford Capris Brooklands 280. In the Classic Cars magazine.

Goodluck In Restoring it it will look great indeed.
I had 5 Capri's in the 80's. The best 2 I had were a 1979 3.0S UBG3V and a 1982 2.8i DTJ900Y.
Subscribed to see the rest of this! Great stuff. Good luck with it fellas 👍
John Harrison great to have you onboard, a lot more to come in addition to this car
I need this! Deserves a proper restoration!:)

Have you thought about looking in the Freeads paper?
You boys have your work cut out for you good luck with it!
I think it's worth One Idea in mind is how about looking at the AutoTrader see if they have got any Ford Capri 2.8 Injections going try that?

You can order ford parts from Germany for that Ford Capril 2.8 Injection. Another one I could think off check on the internet.
Those wheels look later, probably off a 280 Brooklands.
Do it I know someone who owns one in grey it’s a 2.8 injection with the pepper pot wheels it’s Mint and looks brand new
Good Idea is restoring it.
Try e bay because they may have old Classic cars up for sale to buy. Could that may well help you it's just one idea in mind there.
dont forget the 280 brooklands!
How much did you get it for
We still haven’t got our hands on it
Do they not want any publicity for their business?
Auto parts you could try because they do body Panels doors bonnets.
Have you tried Ford based up north Yorkshire for Panels for the capri?
If you don’t do it somebody else will.
