Whatever drum brand any drummer prefers are the best drums in the world. The paradox of course is sitting behind the drums is the worst seat in the house. Let someone else play your kit and listen to it facing the drums, even if it's your kid sister or a guitar player.
Completely agree. In 2019 I had the great fortune to be able to buy I new acoustic kit. I’ve got a mid 80s square badge Gretsch USA custom and wanted something different. Tried lots of stuff, including a DW collectors kit. Bought a Tama Star Walnut.
@@AekseyCHO Mate, you will not regret it. My Gretsch kit is maple, and quite bright-sounding. The Star Walnut is much darker and rounder sounding, not as “pointy.” Absolutely beautiful kit. And LOUD. Stuff me!
Thats becauze it has Evans drumheads on it. Ive never heard them sound good on dw drumkits let alone any other drumkit but ive heard they should sound good on Tamas but idk
Problem here are the heads! If you really want to know what a drum can do, use Ambassador Clears top and bottom and tune them the same way, then repeat the test!
Really good video! However, I must say this isn't a fair comparison. Different tone woods will resonate differently. Maple, bubinga, birch, oak, etc. will all respond and sustain differently. It would have been better to compare maple to maple. Regardless, you tuned both kits really well.
Both kits sound very similar to me. Have to say that I felt like I was on a rollercoaster ride with you moving the camera back and forth so many times. Don’t do that!!
I got a DW performance for like €2700 which was cheaper than the Tama starclassic €2800 and its the best drumkit I've ever heard. The DW Design and Performance series are the best bang for the buck and even pdp drumkits sound good
@@Xcrv I'm glad you're happy with it. We all have our own opinions and I don't knock anyone for that, but I've A/B'd DW with kits half their price in the studio, and have often found the cheaper kit sounds just as good. I cut an album with a band back in 2009 where we tossed out a $7K DW Collectors in favor of a $1200 Tama Starclassic Performer. If someone is spending that kind of money on a kit, get a Sonor SQ2 or go for broke and get a Craviotto.
@@RobCartwright at the end of the day it indees is opinion based, but the sq2 is like €7000 to and imo is the sound not even that much better than DW, yes it may appear more "musical" but it doesnt really the rock sound i have in mind. So for €2700 i have the best drumkit i could have wished for
I can see the appeal of DW with the very focused and pro sounding tone. But the Tama sounds full of life.
TAMA!!

Both are good, but I prefer Tama Star
I agree!!
Tama
Tama has more tone and the DW sounds flat.
Awesome!

TAMA all the way 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
Both are good, so thats why I have an electric kit with both in the module 😃
I have tama bubinga and a pearl masters on my ekit. Both are from ggd and the tama has the Vinny Paul snare which sounds amazing

I completely agree with you.
But I can't because I'm too lazy. :)
It's comparable enough with this heads right now.
Tama let's go!!!!! I'm choosing Tama 100%
I prefer DW's kick, but Tama's toms.
DW kick is definitely louder and meatier.

TAMA !!
Without a doubt TAMA

tamas a better brand by default, DW Is overrated
DW has less tone but has a fatter sound. I prefer DW.
I agree!
dw cope
Well one is maple /one is bubbinga. There going to have completely different tones to begin with.
That’s like comparing apples and oranges
And DW sounds the best anyways
@@stevenfederico2594 wrong!

EL Tom 2 tiene una cola bastante fea.
