I still can't believe you are away from here, but you know you will be here with us and remembered by people who ride with you, who love with, family, and friends. hope you see how many people show up here for you.

Life is but a stopping place,
A pause in what’s to be,
A resting place along the road
To sweet eternity.
We all have different journeys,
Different paths along the way,
We all were meant to learn some things,
But never meant to stay.
Our destination is a place,
Far greater than we know,
For some, the journey is quicker,

In the book of Deuteronomy 31:6 when Moses is 120 years old he’s standing at the shores of the Jordan river with the Israelites. He tells them…
”Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”“
‭‭Deuteronomy‬ ‭31‬:‭6‬ ‭NIV‬‬
Moses is telling them this right before they are to go into the promised land.
Shawnita’s husband, Shane said this was Shawnita’s scripture for the year. She kept it on her phone and close to her heart.
If you ever spent any time at all with Shawnita you know she was super sweet, super friendly, and extremely brave. I’m not saying she wasn’t ever scared, because like most she knew Bravery wasn’t the absence of fear, but the fortitude to move forward and endure. She lived life. One full of selfless kindness and encouragement. She was adventurous often going places and doing things that not very many women would do. She was in pursuit of excellence and was willing to go above and beyond especially to make people who may be as scared as she once was comfortable in the presence of their fear. She was a friend to everyone and a stranger to no one at least not for long. Chris Myers was telling me how she was there to make him feel welcome on one of his first rides. That’s just who she was.

Moses is telling them this to the Israelites because he knows they’re scared AND he’s not going with them, but he also told them that Joshua, their new leader is going in ahead of them.
I’d like to think maybe this is the passage Shawnita wanted to share with us in her absence….Be strong and courageous.
Do not be afraid……..the Lord your God goes with you.
Maybe she was saying this to us….. maybe she was saying this to Shane and her family and to EVERYONE …..you stay here I’m going to go ahead. I’ll go first and check it out, you stay here and don’t be afraid. God is with you.
Today would have been Shawnita 50th birthday and we’re going to have 50 seconds of silence. These few seconds of stillness will feel like and eternity but think to yourself and ask God what is it the He wants you to see in this time of being still; what does he want to show you; reveal to you? I finish this moment of silence with a brief prayer for the family.
