Unreal. When I drove the 720s last summer I said it felt as fast as the LaFerrari I drove to 203 mph and few people believed me.

Here we go again with the price tag bla bla bla. There are a bunch of factors as to why that car costs more. Some of them are not even production related. Even if they put another 100k to the base price of that 720s, mclaren would still never be profitable as gm. Look at Mercedes, Nissan, Jag, and Dodge. How can they charge their high performance car cheaper than the rest? Because they can. Those brands never thrives on the sales of their high performance car much like gm while the likes of Mclaren has to survive just on one category which has a very small niche market. I know Merc ain’t cheap but their gt models are some of the cheapest that came out from Europe.
I'd love to see the ZR1 and the 720S in a head to head track battle! And the ZR1 isn't a bad car considering it's price point. There aren't any cars under $150,000 that can match the ZR1's performance.

I've come to the same conclusion about all recently produced McLaren models. Similar to how VW's knew they we're hooked up to emission machines. There is numerous auto-news articles out there about how McLaren is lying about the 720's HP numbers to protect their older cars like the P1 from crashing in value. But this ridiculous thing is pulling more like 850-900hp than the estimated 770-800 translated from the wheel HP dyno numbers. Somewhere, something sketchy is going on, and who knows if we'll ever know the truth. In the mean time, we'll keep hearing McLaren fanboys trash talking everyone to death.

No secrets, if you got a lot of horsepower, a lightweight frame, a very good gearbox and efficient launch control, you get a top notch result. Mclaren put all these ingredients into the 720s.

Anis Beli879 For starters the 918 didn't lose against the 720S in a drag race and in a roll on La Ferrari has too much power for the 720S, also La Ferrari in 1/4 mile has been timed 9.9 9.8 9.7 with higher trap speed so on average in a drag race it'd still have the legs on a 720S, all those 11sec runs are bullshit it obviously ain't that slow.
720S walks 918 on a roll.
LaF goes about neck to neck with the 720S then slowly walks away.

M/T tested the GT2 and got a 10.3. almost the same times as the Turbo-S. no way that GT2 will ever touch the 720S. 'Vette is about 500lbs more, and that wing doesn't help at all.

Sirpalmtree remember that the 600LT is even lighter than the 570S. And that little supercar punches away over its class. So yes, more downforce aero but also much lighter. 600LT should beat cars like the Huracan Performante, 488 Pista, Ford GT, ZR1, etc.

The McLaren is lighter right 400 lb and the Corvette had a passenger and that guy probably adds at least another 150 lbs....and that wing on the Corvette definitely slows it down on the straight aways..

Just crazy.. I watched a video of a supercharged huracan and a ZR1 do three highway pulls and they were neck and neck. Closest race I have ever seen.
The ZR1 Driver needs to engage performance shift in the roll race, makes a big difference. a lot of C7 owners are unaware of how to get the car into performance shift or even know about it..keep posting awesome videos.

The zr1 is phenomenally quick, and on par with huracan performante, 488, 911's Ford gt's etc, im just curious to see why everyone is okay with McLaren CHEATING like that with their 720, which presumibly it should have had those hp figure but in reality it developes 800 plus hp. I have always seen the big 3 Ferrari Porsche and Lamborghini with similar specs of their supercar range, McLaren has got nearly 200 hp more than the competition!!! 488 has 670 hp, turbo s 600, huracan 610 hp McLaren "officially" 720 which is nearly 100 hp more than the competition but on dyno people found out it has got more than 800, for the price of the lambo Ferrari etc CHEATING like that to gain fans and popularity over the internet. Then having Ferrari sell me a 488 that isn’t setup the same as their press 488. As usual the 720S is the star of the show, it's an absolute beast. But it looks so dainty and sexy, very deceiving. I predict the 720S will drop kick a GT2 RS just like it does all other stock non-hypercar comers. I think also, as much as I hate to say, the 720S will pretty much destroy the Ford GT in a straight line. However, I think the 720S vs Ford GT on a circuit for lap times, with the same pro driver that is expert on that particular circuit and practice time in both cars could be very interesting. I think under those parameters I would give the edge to the GT.
720s has already beaten the GT at willow springs with randy pobst driving them both. Its also beaten the gt2rs in 2 of 3 track tests by german car mags. Only time the gt2 has been quicker is with those non standard r type mpsc2. Its a freak! Regardless the ford GT is a great unique car.

Fastest Vette ever has a best of 10.7 135 mph with Aerokit vs 11.0 at 133 for C6 ZR1. Obviously with drag radials and no aerokit they can do a lot more.
