"Dance Hall Days" is probably my favorite Wang Chung song. They also had a hit with "To Live And Die In L.A." which was the title song from a movie of the same name.
The 80s sure did have some very fun songs that just got everyone on the dance floor not only that it just makes us feel 👍 good. Those good old days 😃 wish music today had the same feel. Some of it does
This was a cool video in in the 80’s when I was 16. The artistic style was so awesome back then. But it’s really aggressive & chaotic to watch, now. WOW! I’m 57. This was and is a great catchy song.
If you wanted MTV to play your stuff you needed a novel video and this is a great example of that. Bands just had a lot of fun with videos back in those earlier days. Other examples of innovative videos were Peter Gabiel's Sledgehammer and Dire Straights Money for Nothing which were both MASSIVE hits and played to death everywhere - you couldn't get away from them!
That was back when music videos were relatively new so they were wearing out those effects, same way like when you discover a new food you like and you binge on it until it makes you sick. There was some creative work but by comparison to modern videos you might get the reaction you just got.
One of the most popular and catchy tunes of the 80's, and reflecting the times, attention catching videos were part of the music sales formula. We grew up in the mTV, Vh1 Friday Night Videos era. The 80's! Great, fun times!
They were originally called "Huang Chung" which is Chinese for ":yellow bell" they changed to Wang Chung because people were always looking for them under "W" in record stores. The video was done by Kevin Godley and Lol Creme who were the MTV video kings in the 80s and was actually banned in places due to fears it would trigger epileptic seizures. They also did Herbie Hancock's "Rockit" and many other great videos.
This was pure mid - '80s power pop dance music. You could hear the same driving rhythm in Sheena Easton's and the Pointer Sister's music. Great fun on the dance floor but still needed to be spiced up with some house at times.
Yep, I remember seeing this on MTV when they actually played music videos all day. Who could forget this one. Fun reaction as usual. I would suggest doing the original video for Don’t Let’s Start by They Might Be Giants for another memorable MTV throwback.
A real staple of the '80s - the music video was a big part of the Multi-media Renaissance that defined that decade. "Wang Chung" became synonymous with 'have fun'. Check out their hit DANCE HALL DAYS.
This my sh$t!!! Everybody dance more!!! Wang Chungin is Dancing... Let's Go & To Live and Die in L.A. are great songs...as well by them. Everybody Wang Chung Tonight!!!! 🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃
This was a good dance song. We used to have a great time dancing and acting like a fool without a care in the world 🤣🤣. Those were the best days of my life 🕺🕺👍
Oh my god - when I was young I sometimes filled in for the house DJ at the only club in our town. One of my secret gems was this song, always filled the dancefloor. Thx for bringing back those memories, love and respect from Sweden :)
Now you two make me really feel old! We used to rush home from school to watch this video on MTV. And we thought it was the coolest thing ever!! We didn't complain.
You should check out the group called Strictly Inc., which was a collaboration between Wang Chung's singer Jack Hues and Genesis's keyboardist Tony Banks. They have great songs such as The Serpent Said, Strictly Incognito, Charity Balls and the only music video they had for the single Only Seventeen. 🙂
Thank goodness, I thought I was the only one who physically cannot handle this video without getting queasy. Thing is, I can watch other stop-motion stuff like "Sledgehammer" just fine, so it must just be something with the particular frame rate or the "strobing" between two frames that gets me.
Their soundtrack for the film " To Live And Die In L.A." is incredible. "Wait" is my favourite track with the title track a close second. The film itself is a 1980's classic directed by Wiiliam Friedkin - the car chase is sensational!
My wife and I both love this bamd. We bought the album not long after we were married in 1984. This album is great. You have to react to the other big hit off this album: Dance Hall Days. The video is way different and not so freaky. This is some great music. Goof band.
Y'all should jam to... The system- don't disturb my groove. I literally just discovered this song yesterday and I'm hooked. It came out in 1987. Also... (Lakeside-something about that woman). If y'all could get around to these, I'd be so happy, thank you in advance. 💜💙
this video caused MTV to start putting epilepsy warnings before certain videos, a fact Pokemon and Nintendo would learn was necessary 15 years later........
Nice! Wang Chung? I watched the last new wave stream and don't recall this one on the stream. What stream did this win on? They were a fun new wave/dance-rock band from the '80s. Lots of good songs/videos from this group. They split up in the late '80s, but reunited during the '90s. Check out videos for "Dance Hall Days", "Let's Go", "Live and Die in LA" , "Praying to a New God" ! You hear a lot of their music on movies, too. I think they'd like Information Society as well, similar band during the late '80s and '90s. But, more synth heavy. Also freestyle influences. Pretty upbeat.
In this episode of Brad & Lex, an involuntary "oh" leaps from the lips of Lex immediately followed by a wondrous "bop" equipped with peppy yelps despite her motion sickness to the visual aid of the 1986 chart topper. Brad seconds the nausea notion but still manages to display a reluctant "rock" while nursing his pupils.
The 80's were such fun for music. Music videos a new format and playing around with video added to the fun. One thing for sure. You will never forget this video or band. Wether they fit everyone's taste is another matter. But yes I like weird. The white stuff was very chic choice for recreational pharmaceuticals back in the day Especially when inhaled. See Scarface if you need visual aid on that statement. 🤣
I remember I used to work wit some guy who was Philipino and we would talk crap so each other back and forth 😂 I ended up calling him Wang Chung cause this song would come out on the radio when we worked together 😂
Brad makes a great point. Music should be heard not seen unless you see and hear it live. The influence of video detracts from its art and beauty. . MTV was just a PR ploy to sell groups and sounds. Music draws you into itself. The video takes you away from it.
Ahhh, the days of MTV when you'd switch it on after school while doing homework. When MTV actually had music. Great stuff!
Those were the days
True story.
You can't induce seizures with a music video!
Wang Chung: Hold my beer
LOL!
Hold MY beer: play Rest In Peace by Extreme, with the lights out. Seriously, do it and get back to me!
Republica's Ready to Go video as well :)
@@Trifler500 Love that one. 👍
"Dance Hall Days" is probably my favorite Wang Chung song. They also had a hit with "To Live And Die In L.A." which was the title song from a movie of the same name.
Wait ?
Agreed. "Dance Hall Days" is a really good one!
I liked their first single Don’t Let Go better than DHD. To Live and Die… is great!!!
Yep. Jangly acoustic guitar in the midst of synthesized sound was refreshing. Still holds up.
For some reason I always forget they sing Dance Hall Days! I do love that song.
This was such a HUGE dance club song!
I saw The Cars in 1984 and Wang Chung was the opening act. Good times.
The 80s sure did have some very fun songs that just got everyone on the dance floor not only that it just makes us feel 👍 good. Those good old days 😃 wish music today had the same feel. Some of it does

Wang Chung really good. He wrote the music for a motion picture. "To Live & Die in L.A.". Great movie.
The Cars - You Might Think is another prime example. Also those ZZ Top videos with the car and 3 girls.
Fun is the operative word.
Music wasn't too bad either.
Thnak you for putting my thoughts into to words better than I could have.
@@alexo5861 Anyrime Alex 😊
also which came first, this video or max headroom? I think this video might have taken some ideas from max.
Maybe eventually Wang Chung's other hit Dance Hall Days will get put on a poll and win.
Dance Hall Days is my favorite Wang Chung song. It just made you feel good!
Yes, Dance Hall Days!
Speak in tongues and understand!
This packed the dancefloor! Great tune, thanks.
In 2024 it still packs the dance floor
Let's Go - Wang Chung
Brad & Lex, their other big hit "Dance Hall Days" is next for you!
Excellent song! My actual favorite WC song!👍👍😘😘
That’s their best hit
Dance Hall Days is a vibe
Maybe you don't make it onto and win a poll.

This song sums up the times when it was released. Life was so much fun and everybody was happy.
Yesssssss
Because, in part, one of the greatest American presidents ever was in office.
This was the sort of thing that was on MTV back in the day that made you want to watch all the time.
Hell yeaaaaah
Everybody had fun. Everybody Wanged. Everybody Chunged 😀
I loved this song as a kid in the 80's. It was all over MTV and VH1. Happy times!
That was back when music videos were relatively new so they were wearing out those effects, same way like when you discover a new food you like and you binge on it until it makes you sick. There was some creative work but by comparison to modern videos you might get the reaction you just got.
Happy happy times indeed. I still have this one on my iPhone to this day

Ooh pointer sisters had great tunes
"Everybody have fun tonight"
"Everybody Wang Chung tonight"
Words to live by... 😉
This group was a sensation even in my native country El Salvador during the 1980s as a young teen .....
information society- Pure Energy
Ooooh one of my all time FAVE!! I was a teen and danced to this one so much at all the parties with all my classmates
Overdue!!!! I need to Wang Chung tonight, for sure.
This is one of those songs that you hate but it gets stuck in your head forever.
Yep, I remember seeing this on MTV when they actually played music videos all day. Who could forget this one. Fun reaction as usual. I would suggest doing the original video for Don’t Let’s Start by They Might Be Giants for another memorable MTV throwback.
class of 87!!

Still to this day my friends and I always respond to someone when they ask what are you doing we say " not much, just Wang chunging"

Everybody Wang Chung Tonight!!!!
🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃🕺💃
This is the song Me and my group used to listen to when we were turning it up back in the late 80
"Where have all the good times gone!!"
I remember when this song came out but this is the first time I've seen the video. Now I feel lucky to have missed it for more than three decades!
This was a good dance song. We used to have a great time dancing and acting like a fool without a care in the world 🤣🤣. Those were the best days of my life 🕺🕺👍
HYPNOTIZE is their BEST Song!
I always thought Wang Chung sounded like slang for puking. "Oh man, I wang chunged all night last night".
This played a LOT on MTV!
The 80s, where creativity ruled music videos!
Btw, their band name came from a guitar sound.😘💖
Dance Hall Days is an AWESOME song of theirs!
To live and die in LA is by far their best tune IMHO. Such a great vibe. Dance hall days is also great.
They did the soundtrack for the movie “ to live and die in L.A.” for the 80’s it was right on.
That is a very good movie!
Now ya'll have to go back to USA for Afica ( we are the world) and see how many people you know now 😎
Oh I loved this video back in the day!
Imagine the time it took to film all of the micro-shots in this video.
When this video was introduced, there was a Warning that the Flashing video could cause Epileptic Seizures in some people.
I've always dug that beat. 😎
Love Wang Chung. Their film score for To Live And Die In LA is amazing
I remember when this came out. I was in college. ABC eventually used this for promos.
Wayne Chung tonight
Is the way that elect laughs I know how I could have fun tonight a are a
I don't recall of any group or artists that ever done a video like this, this is truly unique.
Everybody Wang Chung Tonite,,,,,💥💥💥🤘😎
Dance Hall days is a better Wang Chung tune
Brad ,”this hurts my soul”😂
The Wang Chung hit to listen to is Dance Hall Days.
Wang Chung-To Live And Die In LA....one of my favourite film soundtracks
Dance hall days is my fave
Thank goodness, I thought I was the only one who physically cannot handle this video without getting queasy. Thing is, I can watch other stop-motion stuff like "Sledgehammer" just fine, so it must just be something with the particular frame rate or the "strobing" between two frames that gets me.
LOL thats all i got !
Dance Hall Days is classic from them.
Not bad, I remember !
It helps if you blink your eyes really fast while watching it 😅 Love this song, prime 80’s.
it looks like anxiety feels!
"No regrets thats my motto,...that and everybody Wang Chung"
Please react to :
*Wang Chung - Dance Hall Days*
Even better!!!! My favorite !
Anyone remember MTV issuing a disclaimer before they starting airing it about the clip possibly causing seizures? ….yeah, I was a huge MTV fan.
Their soundtrack for the film " To Live And Die In L.A." is incredible. "Wait" is my favourite track with the title track a close second. The film itself is a 1980's classic directed by Wiiliam Friedkin - the car chase is sensational!
I have to think this was an early 80's video that was ahead of its time. At any rate it seems to have Brad's attention :)
My wife and I both love this bamd. We bought the album not long after we were married in 1984. This album is great. You have to react to the other big hit off this album: Dance Hall Days. The video is way different and not so freaky. This is some great music. Goof band.
I really love Dance Hall Days, but slight correction: That song was on the album Points on the Curve, while this one was on the later album Mosaic.
You guys should react to…
The Church - Under The Milky Way

Wow Brad liked it. Wow I’m surprised
LMAO! Same here with the motion sickness 😆

A few more Wang Chug songs:
- Dance Hall Days
- Let’s Go
- Praying to a New God
Great 80s song. Imnovative video.
A perfect example of why everyone says that the 80's were the most fun ever.
Blue Swede " hooked on a feeling" The guardian of the Galaxy!
Yep. Knew the Brad eyes would be out for this one!
Quintessential 80s song.....this was everywhere in 87,88....
This was one of those iconic MTV videos back in the good MTV days.
the name "wang chung" is derived from the sound an electric guitar makes on the downstroke then upstroke
Everybody Wang chung tonight

The cameraman of this video was taken to hospital after the shooting because of uncontrollable twitching😂
Another Hit from them: Dance Hall Days

A great song!
If Homelander was a rock star.
