  • This video briefly reviews sansevieria plants affected by leaf rot, the causes of leaf rot, and how to treat it.
Leaf rot on sansevieria plants, or mother-in-law's tongue, can be caused by several factors. Here are some common causes of leaf rot on sansevieria:
    1. Excess Humidity: Sansevieria is a plant that does not require much water. Overwatering can cause the roots to rot, which ultimately leads to leaf blight.
    2. Poor Drainage: If the pot or soil does not have good drainage, water can stagnate and cause roots to rot.
    3. Fungal Diseases: Some fungal diseases, such as Fusarium or Phytophthora, can cause leaf rot in sansevieria. This fungus thrives in damp environments.
Symptoms of Sansevieria Infected with Erwinia Bacteria:
    Soft Rot on Leaves:
    1. Leaves will show signs of soft rot, starting with small watery, soft spots.
These patches will develop into larger, wetter areas, often accompanied by an unpleasant odor.
    Discoloration:
    2. Infected leaves may turn yellow, brown, or black, especially around the rotting areas.
This discoloration can spread quickly throughout the leaf.
    Rapid Decay:
    3. This disease can cause very rapid rotting of leaves and stems, making infected plant parts soft and limp.
    4. Slime:
Leaves infected with Erwinia bacteria often emit sticky, foul-smelling mucus or fluid.
    5. Destroyed Plant Tissue:
Severe infections can cause plant tissue to be destroyed, so that the leaves become soft and crumble easily when touched.
Low Temperatures: Sansevieria cannot tolerate extreme cold temperatures. Exposure to low temperatures can damage plant tissue, which can lead to leaf rot.
Pest Infestation: Some pests, such as mealybugs or spider mites, can weaken plants and make them more susceptible to late blight.
High Air Humidity: An environment with too high air humidity can also cause sansevieria leaves to rot, because this plant prefers dry conditions.
Plant Cleanliness: Plants that are not kept clean, for example not regularly cleaning their leaves from dust or dirt, can be more easily attacked by diseases that cause leaf rot.
How to Treat Leaf Rot on Sansevieria:
Reduce Watering: Make sure the soil is completely dry before watering again. Avoid excessive watering.
Improve Drainage: Use a pot with good drainage holes and make sure the planting medium has a mixture that allows water to drain well.
Pest Control: Regularly check plants for pest attacks and take immediate action if pests are found. You can use natural or chemical insecticides as needed.
Maintain Cleanliness: Clean plant leaves regularly to prevent the accumulation of dust and dirt which can become a place for disease to grow.
Place in the Right Location: Make sure the sansevieria is placed in a location that gets enough light, but not too much direct sunlight.
Check and Cut Infected Leaves: If there are leaves that are infected with rot, immediately cut them off and throw them away to prevent the disease from spreading to healthy parts of the plant.
With proper care and attention to environmental conditions, leaf rot on sansevieria can be prevented and the plant can grow healthily.

Kemungkinan besar adalah kondisi media tanam yang terlalu lembab dan kurang sinar matahari kak..
