Minute 16:30 until 19:20 has to be the best you've ever put up on your channel 😂 Happy you like the records Mazzy and thanks again for all that you've done for the VC over the years!!!
Stunty’s channel is truly illuminating. After all how many videos can anybody watch extolling the virtues of Bob Dylan, The Beatles and the Stones? What Stunty has done is widen my lens when it comes to music. There’s brilliant, brilliant, music out there that doesn’t necessarily emanate from England or the USA and isn’t necessarily pop, rock or conventional jazz. Vive le Stuntois! Vive la révolution!
Hi Mazzy, I was taken by surprise as you showed Angelo Kelly's album Grace. Here in Germany the entire Kelly Family has a certain reputation for mainstream music since decades. Kelly Family members appear on cheesy Schlager shows as long as I can remember. That does not mean that individual family members wouldn't be able to provide stuff that you and me might love. Always willing to learn even in my 69th year, I will listen to Grace via Qobuz streaming; my modern listening booth. And there is a good chance that I will pay Angelo Kelly my respect.
Now and then, here and now, my reaction initially was negative and severely disappointed. But when I let myself go and bought a copy and listened to it at home, I came round to it and fell in love with it.
A whole other level of enjoyment can be had by watching your channel with the subtitles on ( im Scottish and a wee bit deaf ) ..... didn't know your favourite guitarist was Reich Hooter ....really must check out this guy !
that 'i am the dog' cover concept looks like a tribute to judee sill's heart food. ben harper's mother has an amazing instrument shop/museum here in claremont CA, worth visiting.
I dont think of this as "cool kids" music, i think it's music for people who aren't afraid of being challenged and inspired by the unfamiliar. God bless Stunty!
Cheers Mazzy, there was actually 13 questions, hahaha, how did you miss that? Claudine Longet I have most of her albums, and played them every now and then, which I think still does surprise people. But as you said, those are real fun records, and I have no hierarchy between any genre, besides heavy metal, or whatever corny name tha music is described as ^^
Mazzy, hi. Happy New Year from Portland, Oregon. Been watching your video offerings for a couple years and have enjoyed your commentary and choice of themes. Most of the time, I really enjoy your videos, but was watching this one. You Tube showed you holding the Glenn Branca record. I thought, I wonder what Mazzy has to say about Branca? Somewhere my attention was diverted, and then . . . You presented the Wild Angels Soundtrack! Oh, my God. I love you! The segue from Branca to Dave Allen and the Arrows was virtuosic! You are the only person in the world to make that connection! I loved that record back in the day, and I about jumped outta my chair when you presented it. Super cool, super funny. Thanks for that. I enjoy your shows. Michael
Great ones, Mazzy. Always turned on to wild and woolly jams from Dom and Alex. The Happenings MMJ was also the biggest hunt I landed in 2023. What an album. Still on the lookout for a clean OG of that Santo & Johnny. Embedded into my brain from my dad playing his VG- copy at home when I was a kid. HNY, my friend. See ya sooner than later I hope.
The reaction to ‘Now and Then’ is interesting to me. I’m definitely seeing more negativity towards the song after people have sat with it for a few months. Maybe not a true backlash, but certainly a reassessment of the song. Perhaps because my expectations were super low, but I’m still really enjoying it. Of the three “reunion” songs, it is the one I find myself actually wanting to listen to. Maybe because it sounds like something Elliott Smith would have created if he were still around. Or maybe I just think it is amazing that we even have it at all. I’m not sure why it works for me, but it feels like many massive Beatles fans have soured on the song rather quickly. It isn’t suddenly one of my favorite Beatles songs, but I definitely don’t find it to be an embarrassment, or a blotch in their discography.
I saw Bar Italia live in Hoxton in October and I have tickets to their Brixton show in May. Definitely worth checking them out live if they come near you.
Great video... I didn't know the Bobby Hutcherson's Happenings album came out in the MusicMatters series... it is very expensive now... It should receive the Tone Poet treatment.... too bad.. I am sure the Classic series would do a good job, but the gatefold jacket will be missed.
Love that Terry Evans album but only have it on CD. One of my all-time favorite songs is "That's The Way Love Turned Out For Me" which was on his Blues For Thought album with wonderful Ry Cooder guitar. Ry Cooder does a fine version on his Slide Area album. I also like the music Terry did with Bobby King.
Happy New Year Mazzy.will have to look for that Terry Evans LP.. I sure missed a lot this year because of my surgery. But I will be getting my Prosthetic soon. Then I can get out and also start my channel.
Great video, love the one on the wankers. Just wondering how your humming guru is working out? Thinking about buying one off Amazon. They cost a little bit more, but you have to buy all the adapters with it. But they have 30 day free return. Would like to hear your opinion. Thanks.
I'm not the biggest fan of Now and Then, but I do like the interest and love it generated for The Beatles, notably among people who previously didn't know too much about them.
Neither of the Red or Blue albums nor the Now and Then single makes the top 40 charts in the UK for 2023. This surprised me, but there we go . Be interesting to see the North American charts.
I adore Terry Evans (like you, I've seen him with Ry Cooder, along with Bobby King) and have several of his solo albums (a favorite track: "Dancin' With Your Belly Up" -- say no more!) and his collaborations with Hans Theessink. Thanks for the background on "Puttin' It Down." I'm off to search for it right now... (But first: The Bobby Hutcherson discovery of 2023 for me was the Tone Poet release of "The Phantom," in collaboration with Duke Pearson. It just keeps hopping back onto my turntable...)
From Claudine Longet to Glenn Branca in a single, eclectic jump! The Claudine Longet album is on Barnaby, which was actually Andy Williams' own label. Ray Stevens was the most successful artist on that label.
Wow that's a nice copy (at least the cover" of Santos and Johnny.........none of my copies look that good......They are all beat to hell! BTW yes from Brooklyn, New York
Hi Mazzy, do you happen to have a copy of Paul Pena Self Titled album? I'm trying to track down a copy and it's almost impossible, you seem to be the kind of person who could have some knowledge of a location for a copy :)
You know when you're watching a movie and a couple of the characters go into another room to discuss something vital, something you really want to hear, but instead the director cuts to a completely different scene?
That cover sleeve to the Beatles has got be the worst ever. Looks like a 10 year old did it for a straight lines drawing contest. Not particularly keen on the song either. You made this thread interesting because the questions weren't that alternative in my book. Obviously Stunty made them his own. I wonder what relatively normal records he owns 🤔
When will the inferior delivery system of vinyl go away ? I love Terry Evans and Bobby King. I met Terry Evans at a show in Mpls. at Famous Dave's Barbecue. There was only a few people early at the show. I helped carried in some equipment for the band. I told Terry I was sorry that more people hadn't shown up. He told me, even if it was only me at the show they were going to play their asses off. He signed a CD for me and more people pored in and it was a fantastic show ! Played for 2 and 1/2 hours got beers for the band and they went back on stage, saying they got a second wind after those craft brews. Like being in a juke joint years ago. poring sweat and blues elevated to high art . . . th-cam.com/video/CXKQlCQKtIg/w-d-xo.html

Great channel, Norman! Diggin' the Alternative Vinyl Tag concept. I'll have to try one of these too!

The Wild Angels Soundtrack is a perfect way to kick start 2024.Thank you MAZZY🕶️
Now and then, here and now, my reaction initially was negative and severely disappointed. But when I let myself go and bought a copy and listened to it at home, I came round to it and fell in love with it.
"Sleepwalking" is a beautiful song and I enjoy it every time. Cool to see that Wild Angels, fun soundtrack to a shitty movie
Ok. Got me with Das Koolies. Mentioned this record a few times now and I'm off to snag a copy at Neptoon on Main in Vancouver. Cheers Uncle Mazzy!

Hahaha 🎸✌🏼
The Twits is by Bar Italia, 4th LP
That’s right damn it.
“When will the trolls give us all a break and let people enjoy what they enjoy?”
They are simply anonymous losers who cannot put themselves out there to create original and creative content. Jealous wankers. I pity them. 😵💫

Damn, I had copied & pasted the questions on y phone. And it seems. It cut off the last two. Oh well. Fun anyway. Cheers!!!

Thank you Michael. And intense guitars deserve fun guitars afterwards 🎸🎸🎸🎸

That song and record is so good ✌🏼🎸

Free as a Bird is my fave of the three

Hutcherson's Happenings LP is insane. "Bouquet" might be the greatest late night masterpiece I've ever heard.
New artist for me - Watchhouse (all their discs are very contemplative).
Keep ‘‘em rolling.
How about a series of a different hat for each group
Love that Terry Evans album but only have it on CD. The National released two albums in 2023 & would have been better served releasing neither.
I’d bypass The National and just head straight to Tindersticks. The National stole from them wholesale.
I love that Branca stuff
I had an MMJ on my list for a while too - A Night In Tunisia. Congrats on grabbing Happenings!
Santo & Johnny nice!
FYI Sir Chloe is playing in Seattle in March.
Happy New Year Mazzy.will have to look for that Terry Evans LP.. I sure missed a lot this year because of my surgery. But I will be getting my Prosthetic soon. Then I can get out and also start my channel.

Works great had it a year now

Boy,, with United States of America in the last thumbnail and Glenn Branca in this one, you really know how to catch my attention.👍
What a great idea!

Claudine Longet appeared in Peter Sellers “ The Party “
I know you got some sparks in that collection of yours😊
Yes I have many Sparks records
From Claudine Longet to Glenn Branca in a single, eclectic jump! The Claudine Longet album is on Barnaby, which was actually Andy Williams' own label. Ray Stevens was the most successful artist on that label.
Funnily enough, I did play Claudine Longet LPs and Glenn Branca in a stream of mine a couple of years ago ^^
I think I heard you play the Branca. Missed the Claudine ✌🏼
Wow that's a nice copy (at least the cover" of Santos and Johnny.........none of my copies look that good......They are all beat to hell! BTW yes from Brooklyn, New York

Sorry, I do not!
Hi Mazzy did you ever pick up U2s Songs of Surrender in 2023?
I did not 🤠
Thank you Mazzy. I think after this latest fakakta release, it’s time these Beatles guys broke up.
You know when you're watching a movie and a couple of the characters go into another room to discuss something vital, something you really want to hear, but instead the director cuts to a completely different scene?
Nice shirt Mazzy. Check out John Doe and The Sadies "Country Club"

I enjoy your videos because they are shot in HDR.
CDs preferred!
