Yes, that happens because your FEAR factor is predominant, once Vata, Pitta and Khappa is balance, that FEAR will go away.
Its ghee for some ailments n for some they use honey. My grandpa use to put honey in his eyes everyday
You cant open because fight or flight mechanism or Pingala Nadi imbalance is there.
Natural way of life was best.

I have once done this Tarpana back some years for curing Myopic Astigmatism. At first when I opened my eyes, there was total darkness and I thought I became blind. The whole treatment was however, great.
From where can you tell ? How much it cost?
