It’s really confusing … some coaches says open stance is effective and some say side stance is efficient and some say closed stance is good. Really confusing 😅
I had the same question, so a coach said the open stance is to open up the front leg but the chest should be side on towards point and then showed me many international players photos while hitting, kindly google players images you will understand better

Little open stance like AB devilliers , Virat Kohli use there trigger to make fast reaction. Open side stance use left hand pacer bowls over the wicket to see Ball with 2eyes.

If go with this rule it will work for test not for T20 . If you open up front leg you can hit all the ball. He doesn’t know modern cricket. He Still old school student.
His tip is only good for hitting the ball through long on or straightish mid wicket .
