I got to see it twice on a massive IMax screen. It was truly astounding and felt as if I were seeing the film for the first time. In that format one can appreciate the tiny details that are somewhat lost when viewing the film on even a good sized flat-screen tv. The Star Gate sequence blew my mind-even without any sort of chemical enhancements. A modern audience will probably find 2001 deadly dull but those of us who appreciate great cinema will be thrilled by the experience.

2001 is really popular in Japan. They were showing it in 70mm and Dolby stereo in the theatres in Tokyo when I was there in 1984.

I can't believe that they predicted the future to such an extent!

Stanley Kubrick was a stickler for absolute realism, and correct extrapolations of current technology. He hired the best people in the world to advise and design this wonder work of science fiction. The space shuttle sequences were so accurate and the Deep space ship was amazing, and could be a ship today. The correct depiction and prediction of A.I. was also eerily prescient.

It has been said that the only thing they got wrong was assuming that Pan Am would still be in business in 2001. 😉😁

Le monde vous répond d une illusion qui se réfléchit d angle et d hauteur en direction.
Time and Space, together for anything.
Un retour sur un ouvrage invisible et dure.
    Cette table à servir.
Sa personnalité, en transfert et suspendue.
Vous auriez dû en parler plus tôt, elle a été sondé de la même origine et par un bord avec une réponse de votre proximité.
