interestingly the creators of many Bioware video games, Mass effect, Dragon Age, Star Wars Knights of the old republic. They were medical doctors and im pretty sure they were also brothers. Seems a highly intelligent brotherly duo is a very powerful company.

It's telling that in most of The Brothers Grimm fairytales involved children being harmed or even dying in brutal ways. Scare tactics were (and still are) a very popular teaching tool so children can recognize danger and how to deal with it.

Well meaning Professor Rabkin seems to be laboring under the false assumption that an objective narrative is even possible. I would respectfully submit to him that a 100% objective narrative is impossible. Every narrative incorporates the viewpoint of the narrator to some degree. The narrator's perspective on the events being reported are seen through lenses tinted by the sum of his own life experiences. This is not always a bad thing. It's just one of the limitations of human knowledge and of the human condition. So when the good professor informs us of the "hidden agendas" behind those who originally put European folk tales into writing, I say "Big Deal !!! That's nothing new !!! How is that different than Fox News and MSNBC barraging us with diametrically opposed political viewpoints of reality within every 24 hour news cycle ? " The people in the time of the Grimm brothers certainly had an easier time in figuring out the truth in 1820, than we do today in "technologically advanced" 2020, when the incessantly conflicting barrage of narratives from the Internet and social media threaten to rob us of our very freedom of thought. ... jkulik919@gmail.com

Modernity through discursive practices to protract nationalism with oral folklore was their main intention. Also, the Grimm brothers wanted to hybridize uncultivated forms of pragmatics like monosyllabic to polysyllabic vowels. Moreover, they ended up altering their folklore to fit the bourgeois because the “others” were too constrained in factory labor. They got caught up in capitalistic revenue in the end.

Let's not forget Grimm tales are steeped with hermetic alchemical secret knowledge the church wanted to keep from the people but which they tried to get out in the form of stories and images.
