Poirier has bad mentality sometimes. I always thought Poirier is a bad matchup for Islam, becaude Islams game starts on the feet always, and methodical, precise strikers have the best chance against Islam. I wish he had more confident

At least Chandler can neutralise the wrestling potentially and has the KO power to boot. Islam has better striking than Khabib and arguably equal wrestling. He runs through the LW quite easily imo, his only real competition is Arman.
@@nicholascoob1350 islams wrrsrling is way different than khabibs. Islam doesnt shots, he always fighs conservatively. And Poiried has bad confidence due to his two failures in title fights. That lack of confidence was pretty evident when he locked charles on his guard in order to finish the round. Poiried is a black belt in bjj, he submitted holloway and pettis, dont talk like he doesnt knows how he handle himself with both islam and charles, he needs to attack people on the ground just to show the opponent that he isnt scared, which he doesnt do.
Poirier has been in some brutal fights. Fights that would have cowed lesser men. Fights that would have made others think, ''I've had enough now. Time to go for a pay day and retire'' but not him. He keeps coming back to face hard men at the top of their game. Poirier is a tough guy.

Poriers been looking kind of stressed/disturbed for a while now, for some reason. I still favor his fighting style though, he has a nice shot selection.

If Chandler tries to bang with him he is going down in round one, Dustin defense is way better, he dont get caught often so Chandler power is useless against him, however Chandler used to have a good offensive grappling game back in Bellator, if he can take him down and submit him the fight is over.

Poirier's always jittery during fight week, its a mix of cutting weight, tension and he obviously isn't comfortable doing media. Doesn't mean much, people were calling him mentally shook before he dusted Connor into irrelevency.
Since fighters answer the same questions with the same responses before each fight the only interviews I watch now are the ones with DC

I still remember Dustin training with Tim Credeur on that Fightville documentary. One of his teammates had a fight coming up and was slacking on training. They beat his ass so bad for it haha. That was a wild time in MMA.
