I like the atmosphere of season1. Even when they were casting spells that were less serious, the lighting, ambient music, and effects felt much more mystical and witchy.
I actually loved that they used to do selfish frivolous spells at the beginning of the show. Just wish they weren’t so strict about using magic for personal reasons as opposed to just vanquishing demons all the time. Considering the premise, this show could have been more spiritual if it took itself more seriously.
It does make you question the point of using magic, and make magic feel a lot more like a burden than a gift if all you can use it for is battling evil instead of gaining something for comfort. Of course, love spells seem to be more for learning a lesson and seeing things for themselves, but the way you are always expected to not use it for yourself just occasionally seems unfair. Unless you're a monk.
@@saroxkingdomWell it appears that very small things like how Paige orbs the ice cream or Chris’s dirty diaper while personal gain doesn’t usually backfire. But yeah. Here is what I think would have been a good idea. Witches originally weren’t allowed to use their powers for themselves in any personal gain like at all. So the ratio of evil witches were enormous in the ancient past. So either the elders, angels of destiny, magic itself or the gods, create a new rule. The Karmic Rule: That good witches can use their powers for personal gain in reasonable fashions. But they have to be just that good witches. Destroying evil, being non evil themselves, protecting innocents, etc. But they can’t use it to become rich, famous, or anything too great or harmful. But small stuff like help with house work, maybe getting a job, helping with cooking, the kids etc would be an acceptable use of their powers. Almost like an allowance of how much of their power they can use on themselves. This rule would have been made not only to reduce the amount of evil witches but also to make it a more free choice to be good or evil. As with little options in being a good witch many would turn to what allows them to use their powers on themselves. But that is also what the show doesn’t mention. Good witches can have the blessings of a whitelighter, the muses, sandmen, etc. Evil beings can’t.
I’d say there’s a fair amount of seriousness in the show especially when a character dies or nearly dies, Leo’s healing touch seems to have limits and can only heal so many types of injuries.
I loved the part where it even works on Kitt. and their female cat sits there scared while she gets a LOT of Tom's meowing at the window. One tries to paw the wire off the window to crawl in "Go away..Horny TOMS"
I like how piper & phoebe cast a love spell to see if they might be able 2 find true love in the charmed episode dream sorcerer & piper was thinking smart when she tells phoebe that they should reverse the spell & i like that piper & phoebe kept telling prue to use her powers against the dream sorcerer & prue told the dream sorcerer good night & used her telekinesis to push him off the roof piper & phoebe are right about their big sister she is stronger when she's really pissed off

I noticed that too! There's something so nostalgic about thus atmosphere

Well, Paige and Phoebe still using personal gain spells until more season yet.

First and foremost, Goodbye Shannen. Life was unfair to you, but now you are finally at peace.
Season 1 was so magical
I always loved how the spells would backfire on them😂

I love how they was always scared of big sis lol and then she gives them a pass and they run off into the sunset 😂💀
Ikr I like that too
Watching the series again and I'm on this episode. Could you imagine the boys (Wyatt and Chris) doing this spell with the male requirements? 😂
Foreshadowing much phoebe!!
Indeed, I think they both got exactly what they wanted, right?🤔😉
I miss when Phoebe and Piper where sharing and half braincell 😂
good video to watch again
In 2023 that would be called grape and people will be canceling Phoebe. Back then it was just fun TV.

Not play with Love😂😅😆
Endowed….. 😅
Some don’t like to say it but they totally think and want it lol love people like Phoebe
Foreshadowing of Phoebe needing glasses later on 😂😂😂
Everything in phoebe's list sounds everything like cole and nothing like coop
Ah yes... the 7-episode-long relationship versus the 4-seasons-long hellride (pun intended)
The writers did Cole so dirty
I'm guessing that's also how real life works. What we want isn't always what we need.
Season 1 to 3 were magical and Wicca on its core. It died down with Prue’s Death. They started including Avatars, Utopia, Academy mess
To be fair i thought season 4 was on the same level as 1 and 3. But yes 5 onwards was kinda lame
That guy was rude as fuck
Wich episode is this
Dream Sorcerer

It made the plot so good. But I’ve always loved Charmed!
Well that's kinda the point lol. Using magic for personal gain is not the right thing
@@christopherpericolosi-king4979Yeah, and this spell especially was really unethical
