Friend of mine has an uncle with a pair of these Bozaks. Not that anybody needed to know, just fired off a memory with the thumbnail and got me to click. Very high end speaker of its time and highly desirable today. Nice videos and subscribed.

Delighted to stumble onto your channel and subscribed. Clearly you and I have some common history in audio. When I was about 16 I would visit THE high end audio store in town. They had Klipsh horns, the Ohm speakers and of course my dream team. A pair of Bozak concert grands ina little room no bigger than 10 foot square. I’m still remembering That Day. I bet you and I could gab for hours about vintage audio and people around us would have no idea. Those concert grands had a combined 8 of their variable density felt cone woofers that moved a lot of air. I can’t say for sure if they effected me or not but my theater here has a dozen 15 inch sub woofers. Yea I can move a lot of air with those. Wish we could chat on the phone. A typical high end hi fi in those days would be the B 302 matched with a McIntosh MC 30 power amp, maybe a Fairchild preamp and a Browning Labs FM tuner. A Thorens changer along with a good selection of the yellow jacketed Deutsch Grammophone Gesellschaft premium long playing records.
Really big magnets for such old speakers. The toroidal coils on the crossover look nice! ..Everything inside the box looks very nice to me :D. Thank you for the Video :).
The Bozak and Old Blue should be a musical duet to behold. Amanda McBroom on the Sheffield discs Growing Up in Hollywood Town and West of Oz might be the perfect performances to bring new/old Hollywood music to this old system. And you don't need stereo to enjoy those albums.
I own 3 pairs of Bozak speakers, the biggest of which is a pair of B-310B Concert Grands. The woofers and mid range speakers are spectacular, but the tweeters are a bit lacking by today's standards as they are cone speakers. I owned a pair of B-302's that I shouldn't have traded off to a friend of mine that still uses them.
I’ve never heard the Concert Grands, but I’d like to. Always been fascinated by truly enormous speakers that look like they could fill a concert hall. Do you listen to them regularly these days?

I converted mine to bi amp using a home built 6SN7 pre amp a Marchand electronic crossover which drives a Yamaha M85 amp driving the woofers and a Dynaco ST 70 amp to drive the mids and tweeters. I have have a pair of Bozak B-301 speakers in the garage system and a pair of 401's on the bedroom TV driven by a Fisher 800C receiver. The Bozaks do really well driven with lower power tube amps with the exception of the Concert Grands due to their size, need more power to sound good.
I am very surprised at what you found inside the 302. I was Chief Engineer for Rudy for 17-years and have never seen anything like that. Did you buy the 302 new? It sure looks as though the thing had been serviced somewhere over the years. Anyhow, that it a very nice video in both content and presentation. Enjoy the audio!
Speaker technology has advanced lightyears in the past 50 years......But these Bozaks were developed mostly by using the human ear. They were designed for the hi fi golden age listener, who mostly listened to classical music which was very popular back then. This speaker system was voiced for classical music. Enjoy!!!!!
Hopefully you would consider other material than fiberglass for dampening. Maybe the material for pillows like polyester batting. Hate working on speakers and getting the itchies.
We carried Bozak products back when I was a showroom sales drone 50+ years ago. Even the big floor-standing models never sounded particularly good to me and I don't remember any of them ever actually being purchased -- they just sat there, looking fancy and collecting dust while we moved a fuktonne of KLH and (once the L-100s hit the shelves) JBL stuff. There's a reason the name died along with its namesake -- the speakers were technically interesting, but unexceptional performers given their sizes and prices, even by back-in-day standards.
Ha! Yeah, it sure did. But, believe it or not, it’s supposed to look like that and it’s safe to handle. The cabinet was completely sealed so no chance at an infestation. A real risk with ported speakers, for sure.

I just bought my first pair of speakers last year... Bozak Concert Grands. This is a slippery slope.

Fiberglass would be well suited, but it’s just one of the materials I’m considering. I hate that itch, too!
Asbestos to make them more flame retardant and the ports can be cancer cannons.
