You can't add texture or change coloring of anything on Sims 4 they got rid of that after the Sims 3 was finished. You can add Custom Content (CC) I suggest watching videos on how to do that though. You can get new make up, hair with customization on hair blending new clothes etc.

if you want to have like different toned hairstyles, some of the in-game hairstyles have them (depending on the packs) you need to download some custom content, there are tons of options! :)
there are usually links that enable you to download mods. You just gotta go search! :) Sorry I cant give a more detailed answer, as I've never downloaded mods before
If you want darker parts on the hair you need to get some Custom Content. Just type in on google Custom Content hair Female and choose whatever hair you want. I have some styles that are two-toned. Btw they are for free you just need to download them. I hope this helped! :)
Also these are the steps for downloading CC 1. Find the CC you want on google 2. Download it 3. Open it up and right click cut 4. Find the Sims 4 folder, go into Mods 5. Then make a new folder in Mods called packages. 6. Paste the item you just downloaded into the packages folder and then it will be in your game when you log on. 7. Do these steps as many times as you want to get more CC. 8. ENJOY!
Emily DeGruise the game might crash if you download too much but apart from that it's been fine for me. If the game does crash just delete the CC that made it crash
You should go to the simsresource and download a custom content hair which has the brown roots :) Also if you don't want the sharp cheek bones click on them and there are more options of them. (You'd have to put the cas.fulleditmode cheat to do it though)
Some things you could change did if u want -the sim's mouth is too wide -zoeys face I think is rounder than the sims -nose maybe a little smaller - hair color
Heather 0806 when you have chosen a hair you click on the changing colors thing and then you can click on the roots, highlights and other stuff and just change it. Sorry I'm not good at explaining and English is not my first language. But it should be quite easy to find where you can change the different things individually.
In your sims series I think you should make nala as a human and she can be your child. Give her the same traits and personality as dog nala. It would be interesting to see what you think nala would be like if she were human. Just an idea.
For each clothing occasion you can also change the hair and makeup for each style. You can also change anything about your sim after your first creation by going into a wardrobe in the game. Xxx
HybridEntity AJ Actually, cc for stuff like hair, make up, and clothes are generally very small files. I have hundreds of cc, and all of it together doesn't even equal a single GB. CC has always been supported by the game. If it wasn't, they wouldn't give you an option to turn it on. And as far as it not being safe, as long as you get your content from trusted sites (aka TheSimsResource), it is safe. It also wouldn't slow down their game if they only got a few things. Like I said, the files are very small. A hair style or two won't break their game.

Alfie I've got a tip for you cos I'm addicted to Sims basically you can only change the hair roots in Sims 3 so basically you can only chose one colour for Sims 4 hair also you can make more than one every day outfit also all the others all you have to do is click the arrow above the symbol
about the hair... - in the sims 4 they dont have the option to change th colour of certain parts of the hair, that was in sims 3 -also, if you deide you want to edit a sim once you are already in th game (eg if you have a child and their hair looks really silly, etc) you can press Ctrl-Shift-C and that will bring up a search bar. type in 'testingcheats on' and then type 'cas.fulleditmode'. then Shift-LeftClick on the sim, and press edit in CAS and then you can edit them :)
