I wanted to give a quick shout-out to @HudzMcsgo (Twitter) for mentioning the k1to window smokes to me! I think the idea behind these spawn-based smokes are amazing. I plan to make a video about all the details regarding how they work and the timings involved for both T side and CT side. If you want to see this video please leave a like on this comment!
The details are just sooo nice! From the spawn adjustments to the Intentionally missed smoke, to make the bait for the window AWPer too juicy to say "no" to. I can not get enough of you geeking out about this stuff! Keep 'em comin', Sir. Also "If you want to see this video..." is obviously a rhetorical question. Who're you kidding, common. :D
2 months ago I thought (even commented) that this content is great, as I do not have to search, watch, analise demos, i just have it in your video. But it is not true. I would have to spend A LOT of hours to figure out all the details that you mentiened here (maybe i am just not experienced). Anyway, it is amazing. Keep up the great work
Thank you! I remember that comment, haha. Noticing these details and putting it together in a coherent manner definitely takes a long time. But as with almost anything in CS, doing it more makes you a lot better at it and you become quicker to notice these things!
Another great video, this one was really utility heavy, and now I guess I have a lot of homework to do on mirage. Smokes for dayyyyyyyssss! Those spawn based smokes are super awesome, and I'd love to have a video breakdown of them. I also really like how you showed the plays that tabsen makes and where he goes in the lurk position. Thank you!
Nice video again mahone :) I'm just wondering, in a 1-3-1 default, when should you have a guy come up from underpass/2 top mid and when should you have all 3 just come from top mid?
Thanks, appreciate the support as always! To answer: you should send this player underpass more often if you find that the CTs are aggressing upper B/underpass often. By having two players at upper B at the start of the round, you can actually fight the CTs if they decide to be aggressive. If you only have 1 person in the upper B area, they will either be traded quickly (hence giving up total upper B control and allowing the CTs to stack more over towards A), or they have to give it up and play very passive upper B. If the CTs aren't being aggressive towards upper B/underpass, you can have these 3 players towards mid. The 1 extremity B player can share the role of being the upper B/underpass player; see my video on huNter at underpass/upper B, he does a great job of this role. By having more people at the top of mid, there's more utility to share between the players, and the trade potential is a lot greater if the CTs are contesting conn, cat, window at the start of the round. Hope this offers more clarity!
great video once again! i also have a question: why do they throw both smokes, rather than one or the other? they can still get killed by a guy doing the cat jump if they throw either smoke, or a guy peeking mid from connector.
Thank you! Much appreciated as always. The main reason why you'd want both a window smoke and a top mid smoke is because it allows you to take deeper angles onto connector and short much more easily at the start of the round as opposed to waiting to throw the window smoke after taking top mid boxes control. The player doing the cat jump can easily be pushed off with a flash from the balcony (same one as in this video). The player at conn can be pushed off by this same flash or a just a simple molotov from top mid. To further explain: As a T, you can scale along the right side of the top mid smoke (along cat hugging the wall) to easily peek connector without worrying about a player at window holding the edge of the smoke. You can also cross towards chair to take a fast angle towards short without worrying about a player at window simply holding the right side mid boxes. Additionally, you can do a fast connector push through the bottom of mid very quickly if you have the window smoke up already, as you don't have to worry about this player being at the very right side of window (hugging the corner of ladder room) spotting the bottom entrance of connector. If you don't have the window smoke up, all of these things are much harder to do because the CT can simply counter you with the angles I mentioned. You may say that you could achieve all of those things with simply just a window smoke and no top mid smoke. This is where the top mid smoke is handy. As a CT, the top mid smoke cuts off certain angles (the cross from top mid to mid boxes, etc) and also creates new ones if you're repeeking from cat or connector after being pushed off, and makes it harder to get clear cut angles on the Ts. The top mid smoke overall makes it more difficult to manage the fights as a CT because it forces you into difficult positions if you truly want to fight. This risk is usually not worth it for the CTs. It's a bit hard to explain with text, but if you throw the smokes in an offline server and run the scenarios, you will see what I mean. Hope this helps!
Thanks! Probably unlikely as I still have a recent video on popdog from frozen, avoiding doing the same spots until I cover all of them across all maps. Thanks for the suggestion though!
Great video thanks. Also if you make video about teams like Gambit Youngsters could be awesome they have almost 20 win streak how they are dominating tier 2 - 3 scene I would like to see that with your analysis
Could you please make a longer video about watching demos and how to do it? I would like to know what to take look at, what to focus at, buy I just cant fing antything interesting and waching my own and pro demos is boring and i want to change it. TY for great film as usuall :D
Maybe in the future! But I'll give some small advice: the best way to learn from watching demos is to ask questions, and then try answering them. For example, in this video we see that BIG like to throw the jungle cross smoke to lurk up connector and into jungle/window (04:00)... But why not throw the deep jungle smoke so that the player going up connector doesn't have to check the right side? It's when you start asking these type of questions and finding answers to them, that's when you'll be able to get a lot out of watching a demo. And if you're able to give a possible answer to this, then you're already on your way. Hope this helps!

That would be really helpful! You could maybe do it on maps where the timing is really important, like Nuke or Overpass
The details are just sooo nice! From the spawn adjustments to the Intentionally missed smoke, to make the bait for the window AWPer too juicy to say "no" to. I can not get enough of you geeking out about this stuff! Keep 'em comin', Sir.
