Never watched footy show but the show used to be fantastic when Trev was there until 2008. When Bec Replaced Garry Lyon, the show started to drop. Since Brayshaw left 9, the show was on its final legs. Craig Hutchison became the new host of the show and ratings have started to fall. Hutchison was a very bad host- I didn’t know why Nine picked him. The writing was on the wall after Eddie and Sam left. Sadly, the show got the axe after 25 years.

AFL is more than a game to a lot of people to a lot people it's a passion going and seeing their team play week after week I know because I'm one of those people.
For my dad, it's a religion lol. He was an accomplished amatuer player, he also played state carnivals for South Australia. I can't remember the exact name of the program he was in, it was like a junior/development league for all SANFL teams (basically where the prospective players play before they get picked in the SANFL seniors) he represented Glenelg in it and if it wasn't for injuries and off field issues (mostly alcohol) he most likely would've played in the SANFL a grade when it was 1 of the 3 big league's in Aus with the VFL and WAFL just before the AFL expanded. So everytime he talks about the game, ya can see it means abit more to him lol
It's a shame they don't use this song for a full intro like they used to. What do you think about League Nation on NITV? Even though I don't watch as much NRL as AFL, that along with Marn Grook are great footy shows.
Never missed this show living in QLD even though it came on much later than the NRL Footy Show, but always a barrel of laughs with Champagne Comedy and the theme song was the best. We thought this show would never end cos the Footy never ends. We often wondered if the blue cartoon logo of the football player for this show was actually modelled off Sam Newman cos it does look a bit like him. Also remember the funniest line ever thrown at Sam Newman was by Mario Fenech from the NRL Footy Show. Mario asked Sam if the reason why he had been seen hanging out at the Maternity Ward of the local Hospital was because he was waiting for his new girlfriend to arrive. Never seen Sam go so quiet and stumped without a comeback, while everyone else was pissing themselves laughing at such a pearler payout!
