i don’t understand why minowa didn’t just start throwing shots at brook’s sides as hard as he could. those sides were completely open, could’ve very easily gotten some clean liver and spleen shots. anyone here got some answers? i’m just trying to understand why
I am no expert, but in some positions, it is difficult to strike with enough power to cause a meaningful impact, so Minowa might have thought it would be a waste of energy.
Also, considering that Brooks had control of the position, if he was exposed to Minowa's strikes, he could adjust the position to avoid it.
When was he going to do that? He was on his back most of the fight and was handily outstruck when it was on the feet. He just isn't on the same level at all. In the past I have seen Japanese fighters being overmatched by Americans because the Americans cut more weight and were just bigger but here Brooks is totally superior in every aspect of the fight. He took it to the ground to give Minowa no chance of a lucky punch.
