      kiki_pride 493 me too, but Katherine howard was not as well known history wise, as she was just a teenager that supposedly cheated on her husband. She was not really able to do much before she died. But she is my favorite of the six wives :)

    • @amphitritemists4595
      @amphitritemists4595 4 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      Anne Boleyn came first and her execution made it "acceptable" for Henry to execute Katherine Howard later on. Also, Boleyn was the reason the Church of England became a thing in the first place and the fact that he had her killed after starting a whole new religion to marry her was ridiculous. She gave birth to one of England's greatest monarchs and all she gets in return is her head chopped off. So yeah her execution has more significance but Katherine Howard is definitely my favorite of his wives cause of everything she dealt with personally even before Henry and because of her youth.

      Kathrine Howard’s story is much more tragic than her beheaded cousin Anne Boleyn. She was treated more like “slut” when she was child, her first time having sex was at the age of 13 with Henry Mannox who was 23. For awhile she thinks all men have something in mind “Have sex and dumped you when they are bored of you”

      +agharp20 Do you really expect a fair trial from the French Revolutionaries. It was at best kangaroo courts, and at worst mob rule. There was no justice, or defense of individual rights.

    • @marigeobrien
      @marigeobrien 7 ปีที่แล้ว +37

      Being from Austria had no bearing on her guilt or innocence. While Marie Antoinette was a sort of victim of the system, I suppose, the fact is, she was a stupid girl who saw no reason to use her position to help others but, instead, took advantage of it at the expense of the masses. In fact, both she and Louis were guilty of horrifically poor leadership.

    • @jos_meid
      @jos_meid 7 ปีที่แล้ว +30

      Marige OBrien Even if the french system were bad, she had literally no power to change things. Were people suffering, like everywhere? Yes. Was that the exclusive fault of the french royalty/aristocracy? I would argue strongly no. Did that suffering stop after the revolution? Again, I would argue very strongly no. But the point is, even if it were exclusive fault of the french royalty/aristocracy, and even if it stopped after the revolution, she was convicted of an ex post facto crime, was given only the illusion of due process, and had no ability to prevent the alleged wrongdoing from happening in the first place. I stand by my earlier statement of it being a kangaroo court at best. I would also like to call into question your supposed 'fact' that "she was a stupid girl who saw no reason to use her position to help others but, instead, took advantage of it at the expense of the masses." In what way do you think was she a stupid girl? For being married to the king of a country that would later break out in revolution? In what way could she have used her position to help others? She was the wife of the king, but had otherwise no political power. In what way did she take advantage of it at the expense of the masses? By not changing a system that was literally centuries old, and one which she did not have the power to change anyway? I will agree with your final statement that "she and Louis were guilty of horrifically poor leadership." but I would say that being married to someone who is bad at their job is simply no reason to be put to death, or punished in any way for that matter.

      And even after that, she never wanted to believe Nicholas and her grandchildren were gone, but it wasn't any use, and after the Russian Revolution ended, she returned to Denmark to live with her nephew, King Christian X, and she then remained in Denmark until she died in 1928, having outlived four of her six children, the other two people to outlive Nicholas were his sisters Xenia and Olga, who both lived to 1960.

    The execution of Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots should have made the top 10 for its HORRIBLE sloppiness! It took SEVERAL chops of the ax to kill her, and even more shocking, as the executioner grabbed the top of the severed head to raise it the public and said "God Save the Queen", the head fell down to the floor, and the shocked executioner was left holding a big bunch of hair!! Yes, Mary was wearing a wig. Her cousin, jailer, and longtime rival Elizabeth I was NOT pleased with how things went- despite everything, Mary WAS a queen.

It is unclear who gave the final order, as the committee that , theoretically, organized and represented the various partisan formations always denied giving it. The two most agreed upon theories, to my knowledge, are that either the order was given by a high-ranking communist liasion with the partisans or possibly by the formation's commander himself, who apparently had behaved in a similar way a few times in the past. Besides, there really wasn't a proper government in Italy after the armistice, the country being divded in two and the king having been stripped of his powers by the allies.

      I'm atheist. I don't deny the fact that there had to have been a man named Jesus that was a carpenter and was a very kind and generous man. I also think he had beliefs people didn't like and became too powerful and refused to bend to the powers that be so he was killed in an horrific way for it. As for him having these abilities to rise from the grave and cure disease, they may be explained in other ways, logical ways that do not mean he is the son of God. I tend to believe in logical explanation more than the other one. Just my opinion though. Far be it for me to discourage others from their faiths. If this is what makes them happy and what they believe in their heart of hearts then more power to them. I'm happy for them. I truly mean that.

    • @parkerdinhwilliams15
      @parkerdinhwilliams15 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      gemery101 I deny the "fact" that Jesus was a real man, because the evidence isn't conclusive, but I don't deny the possibility of his existence in history. There is strong evidence that Jesus is actually just a metaphor for the sun (starting with the Pagans) that has been distorted over the centuries.
      My problem with religion has never been about people's person beliefs regarding their own existence. My problem is the indoctrination of people, to the point that many follow orders from religious leaders without any doubts, they are more willing to believe that the future of our planet and of our species rests in the hand of some magical sky being and not in our own. I also HATE how so many religions fully encourage discrimination, that "infidels" or "sodomites" or "sinners" should be considered somehow lesser than themselves.
      In theory, religion is supposed to be about peace and community. In practice, it empowers those who are too blind or stupid to see reason and yet believe they hold some kind of ultimate truth, no matter how ridiculous that "truth" is. The empowerment of irrational people is dangerous, simply because they are much more likely to make decisions based on beliefs and superstition over facts.

    • @gemery101
      @gemery101 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Parks Doge yeah I totally agree. People should ask questions instead of letting their religious leaders instill fear in them. Many people have a lust for power and are greedy. So what do some of them do... End up trying to put the fear of God into whoever. The more fear and desperate people, the more everything gets all screwed up.
      That's super interesting about Jesus possibly being a metaphor for the sun. I'd never heard that before. I know it hasn't been proven he ever existed as a man but I look at it this way, the odds are just as good that he did. Where did the story originate from? Someone could have made it all up. We may never know.

      His life is based on the life of another god, Mithras. There were about 16 gods with the same life story as Jesus. Some of the most christian churches in Rome were built on top of the Mithras temples, and if you were able to go way down into the depths, you would see altars below for Mithras. Christians, as far as my research goes, just used these same life stories to make their own god, Jesus. There is no historical proof for his existence, unless you believe the bible is historical fact, dictated by a god himself, which I do not.

    Fun fact: the bird at 5:12 is a Mute Swan( Cygnus olor), which are usually strongly territorial with just a single pair on smaller lakes. One hard flap of their wings is enough to break a grown man's leg!

      But Rebecca said "By Governnment/state" but considering the fact Russia is still in revolt period and had no Government yet, it's not counted. While the France already had a new formed government when the royal family was executed.
