  • This morning on Toucher & Hardy, Albert Breer chatted about the recent drop in scoring in the NFL. He pointed out a few reasons behind this trend, like teams getting better at defense and a stronger focus on ball control. Breer noted that many younger quarterbacks are still finding their footing, which can also impact scoring. He mentioned how teams seem to be playing it safe with their play-calling, opting for more conservative strategies instead of going for big plays. Overall, he said it’s interesting to see how scoring can fluctuate from season to season, but this year’s dip has definitely caught attention.

This video is my new go to for falling asleep. The one thing Albert Breer is alright at. Putting people to sleep with his boring and habitually late self

Banning certain defensive coverages is the most idiotic thing I've heard Kiper say. That's a slippery slope. You might as well just start choreographing games like a wrestling match

Baseball did it with th shift to promote offense

@user-bmw528 yes but that's not the same as nfl defense. The shift is very hard to adapt to bc hitters have a hard time putting the ball wherever they want. They have tendencies and knowing that ahead of time is a huge advantage.
In the nfl the issue isn't player tendencies. The coverages can be beat, it's just that they get beat by less "exciting" plays. Offense can thrive against this defense, teams are still adjusting. What will naturally happen is, someone will get very efficient at beating this 2 high safety defense and then defensive schemes will adjust to counter that and when they adjust, the offense can then go back to the more explosive style of offense to beat defenses

Soccer on average has few goals per game and yet no one is clamoring for more goals and it is still the world's most popular sport. And why is that?

Because most of the world is dirt poor and soccer is the only sport you can play with just a ball and nothing else. So it becomes popular. And popular doesn't mean good. See: MCU

I’m sorry Bert but people were FURIOUS with those calls. How many times have people said “you can’t even play defense anymore”

High flying down the field is the most boring football. Now can we get back to running the Erhardt Perkins system. We would be in contention by now if they just stuck to an actual rebuild despite what everyone thought of Mac Jones.

Toucher notices that NFL defenses are getting the upper hand, doesn’t mention that maybe Pats staff weren’t so far off on a general strategy of run the ball. Rushing works against defenses full of light/fast defenders. Too bad the Pats forgot that they need an O line and a RB that doesn’t fumble.

Lol imagine thinking a run first offense works in 2024. You could have the best OL ever but if your team depends on the run, you will fail. See: the ravens

This show is in need of a change. Can anything be less engaging than Fred looking down, texting and unplugged from the rest of the show or Hardy to twirling a pen nervously?
