dont know if anyone gives a shit but if you guys are stoned like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all the new series on instaflixxer. Been streaming with my girlfriend for the last couple of months :)
Vielen Dank!
Pumping onto the plane is a truly neglected topic in windsurfing. Thanks for bringing it up. Nice to see how you "get low, to go" to make yourselve easy on the board. Also nicely visible starting at 2:51 you drive the board downwinds at around 20-30 degrees angle. Keep up the excellent tutorials.
Many people believe it's done in a second. You showing the 8 times you were pumping set that straight, thank you. It helped me to imagine my rig were a large spoon which I could use to catch air to get forward. Hard work nonetheless...
Congrats to 16k, Nico! You are putting up so much great content and valuable information for us! A good mixture of entertainment and learning, all of that for free! And you always have such an amazing positive attitude! So thank you very very much for that! Your 16k are well deserved... now on to the next 15k ! :-)
Hi! A while ago you where talking about making a video about slalom fins. Since this is apparently the most important thing like tires in F1. I think a lot of people like to hear more detailed background information about this. I love your videos so far so please keep going !!!
The year is 2023 I go back to watch this 3-year-old video as a review, a polish to my windsurfing style. 10,000 subscribers 3 years ago Today, October of 2023 You're more than 50,000 You were very good then You're even better now Thanks for all your work I am a better windsurfer from watching and listening
That is so fun! Was out in Puget Sound mucking about and wouldn't get unstuck, tried doing what we do in MTB on PumpTracks with dirt jumpers and *bam!* board popped up and away I went. Thanks for the extra tip on pushing the board forward and towards the fin for more drive! :)
Damn, I haven't seen such good quality windsurf video turturials in a long time. Awesome job and thank you for the effort of making these videos! you have definetly earned my subscription and a good tumbs up!
This is good! I didn't know there was so much to say about pumping. It's something I've done for years and never really thought about. I'm going to pay attention to my technique from now on!
Thanks for the technique...I’m looking forward to trying it out. It would have been helpful if the video showed that you eventually did get planning and no longer had to pump.
As a freestyler i'd recommend putting both hands behind the harness lines (as far back as you can). That gives you much more power to pump, since you can use both arms to pump instead of just using the back arm. And of course go downwind.
Thanks a lot Nico ! Absolut great job ! I am an advanced beginner, and your tutorials and also the rest is absolut epic ! Please keep going even during your Pro pensum...
In lighter wind I can pump onto a plane as discussed, but can't stay on plane for long. Oh well, guess I should use 5.8 instead of 5.3 to keep the plane going. Otherwise, any tips to maintaining the plane in marginal conditions?
Great as always video Nico Ger7🤙🤙🤙 once again you are a very blessed man with a beautiful and nice wife to share life with. Great spot to sail in also🤙💪😁
Hi Nico..Happy U r able to come go back to the water..Here in Brazil it will take a little longer Please tell me. Does this method vary depending on the board? I mean it works with a formula board beispiel?
I attempted it today, but my hands couldn't continue for long. A few pushes, and my biceps didn't have enough power. Do you just grab the bar for balance, or do you need to pull it up to your chest?
Thank you! It's best pumping technique video! In future tutorial maybe little more about arms position on the boom. You have right position of course :), but there are good example with Alara (3:32).
I think, for the public channel I'm not going to talk more about the pumping, but that's something we can discuss in detail in the channel membership group.
Sounds quite complicated:))) so many things to do and control in same time 😜😜😜 the one part is contrary with my thoughts..... Peter Hart advised to keep board even with water level fore to aft. As your advice it kind of jumping.... Need to try 😉 Thanks!!!! Great job 👍🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻🤙🏻
Nice video once again, just what I need. The part where you mention you start with a bent front elbow and extended back, is a bit confusing. I do not really see this back when you are in the water. Also it feels awkward for me if I do it. Moving both elbows at the same time feels more natural. Can you explain this a bit more? thanks!
Excellent explanation! Thanks! Observation: It seems you pump better and differently on the left side. Your pumping on the right side looks different and not as dynamic as on the left side. Which arm is your "strong arm"?
Super Video. Auf so etwas warte ich schon lange. Muss ich nächstes mal gleich versuchen umzusetzen. Fällst du vorher immer auf Raum wind ab bevor du pumpst?
One thing that would be cool is if you would add approx wind speed, sail size and board size to these tutorials. What you are using at the moment of filming that is. Thank you!
Gear used in this video: JP Slalom 71 + EVO Flight II 8.0 Conditions: Approx. 10-13kn when it was light, up to ca. 15-18kn when it was stronger. But I tried to shoot the pumping when it was lighter, obviously 😄.
the difficulty for me is to transfer energy well into the legs, to be well placed to have the right timing to step back and put on the straps you really need a good physical condition in the light wind to go to planing
Thanks Nico. Could you add your weight to addl specs requested earlier.. But, in the end, we all know it's the wizard not the wand :) But this purple wizard provides excellent info to us wannabe wizards.

Hi Nico, the problem when i try to pump is that by board is going slightly upwind.. or when i get planning, the board isn't planning enough to go in the straps and go full power..
Most people try to get planning on a beam reach (90 geg to wind direction) which requires a ton of wind. The Pros like Nico go 15-30 deg. downwind and oncle planning go back up again.
Nico Prien Lots of sail pumping was always necessary in San Diego, even on the biggest gear. I haven’t windsurfed in almost 18 years but would love to get back into it - I bet these new boards are noticeably more efficient in marginal winds. I have no interest in foiling, though! It’s impressive how early they plane......but I would miss the water contact way too much.

Great video! What is your sail size and how is the wind speed?
Can you teach us how to waterstart?

Very true, thanks for your comment!
When there is almost no wind best is to stay on the beach and have a beer 🤙
That's when you go surfing! Then when the wind picks up grab the sail 😂
Perfect answer this is what i want to write to !! You stay at the beach and look some asses.... !!!!!! Filakia no pumping nothing................

Thanks, trying my best 😄✌️
Thanks Nico, I found this very helpful.
Nice video were I found many tips to understand how this pumping works...
thanks for your videos Nico and your all things you share with us!
Sound design is on point for this one! Editor deserves food this month!
Good to hear! I spent a lot more time on the sound design these days.
Good tutorial thanks :) I would be very interested in that light wind technique video you said you would make 😁

This is good! I didn't know there was so much to say about pumping. It's something I've done for years and never really thought about. I'm going to pay attention to my technique from now on!
Thanks Nico. I shall be sure to try a bit more pumping next time on the water in marginal wind which at my local lake is just about every time!
Thanks for the technique...I’m looking forward to trying it out. It would have been helpful if the video showed that you eventually did get planning and no longer had to pump.
Thank you for pumping tutorial ! it helped me for foiling :)

Thanks a lot Nico ! Absolut great job ! I am an advanced beginner, and your tutorials and also the rest is absolut epic ! Please keep going even during your Pro pensum...
This video really helped because I don’t live in a windy spot can we do some foiling videos seem as everyone is getting into it

I like it how the boom is too high! Cheers
Haha, it's not though 😄✌️
Sweet👌 is foil pumping technic the same?
Nope, it's slightly different.
Thanks for this 😀🤙 I'm struggling to come up in planing in low wind. These were good tips that must be tried next time on the water. 🤘
Thanks Nico

Insane video Nico (y)
Thanks Christoffer!
Hi Nico,
Love your tutorials mate. I was wondering if you could do one of these on how to get going on foils in really light wind? :)
Fritz Kola ... Good decision Nico!
Haha, yes 😄✌️
My problem is putting my feet into the footstrap, how can I solve this problem?
Sehr geiles Video, danke!
Really useful - thanks :-)
Excellent explanation! Thanks! Observation: It seems you pump better and differently on the left side. Your pumping on the right side looks different and not as dynamic as on the left side. Which arm is your "strong arm"?
Thanks Nico!
Super Video.
One thing that would be cool is if you would add approx wind speed, sail size and board size to these tutorials. What you are using at the moment of filming that is. Thank you!
You’re absolutely right. Will add this to the description later on.

When i do the pump my board goes to much up in the wind how do i fix this?
push the board downwind with your front foot while pumping.
the difficulty for me is to transfer energy well into the legs, to be well placed to have the right timing to step back and put on the straps you really need a good physical condition in the light wind to go to planing
Your video helped me a lot, thanks!
It really helps transition to planing.
That's like the clutch pedal on a car : you have to find the sweet spot.
Love this😍
Happy if it helps you! 😊
@@Nico_GER7 It is💪
Thanks man.
For me usually in light wind it also helps to put the hands quite close together. What's your take on that?
Sure, this way you stay away from the sail and have more amplitude for each pull.
Thanks Nico. Could you add your weight to addl specs requested earlier.. But, in the end, we all know it's the wizard not the wand :)

I sent you idea for faster planing 🤙

Looks like the boom was a little high for her.

Plumbing kill your back ! That is the reason most have back plain🥺
